  1. Yes, according to HDB regulation. U can still install both at 2 toilets but when u selling house, HDB officers will request you to remove all unauthorised works. So u have to tear down your heater, electrical trunking and wires for either one of the toilet. Since you install liao, be reminded not to use the heaters for both at toilets at the same time, if not it may trip the whole house electricity. Overloaded. For me, i install heater at kitchen toilet. But master toilet i run the wirings only, in case i really wan to install heater in future. Nex time sell house, i will tell the HDB officer that i run the additional heater point by mistake but didnt use it. My wall also dun have drilled holes marking for the mounting of heater, so they can close one eye.
  2. 2 downlight should be sufficient. But because i intend to do my work at the dining table very often, so a hanging light may be more appropriate... I certainly hope so... once my partion wall is up and painting done... then only i can bring in my bedroom laminate flooring and grills theni can see light at the end of the tunnel. Having the kitchen cabinet is a bonus to me now.
  3. My previous house sink is undermounted, but i am not involvedin the reno proceess then... but i remembered that my tap is also mounted on the sink area (at the edge of the sink). Been to Hoe Kee, they not very helpful in this. Been to SSC - worse, cos it is always so crowded and hard to get a person to attend to you and they dun look confident with their reply... So i fallback to renotalk lo.... Top-mount as far as i know has 1 disadvantage, that is, water can seep through the gap btw the counter yop and the sink edge...
  4. Actually the 1-2 inches lower portion area u can convert it to cove lighting. I thoughy thru a few possibilities to make it less ugly. My Contractor (i shall stop labelling him as a DESIGNER) but decide to give it a miss. Maybe paint that area using a different colour, so it becomes a feature wall alike. aybe it helps. If wat u say is true, then confirmi have to move in without a kitchen cabinet in my house liao.... :-S
  5. But.. is it any type of sink also can do top or under mount? If not, then how do i differentiate btw the 2 types? Thanks!
  6. Too shallow to even put downlights? Did u take the measurement from floor to ceiling? I opt not to do the false ceiling cos i think it is money not well spent (~$400). No false ceiling = no downlights. So i decide to put a hanging light on top of the dining table only... so next time cannot shift my dining table (if i really need to). Why would cabinet take 2 weeks to complete? So long mah?
  7. You have got a point. When selling house, HDB says this is illegal, then you remove the work lo. Remove Box-up is easy. If the removal work needs hacking... then... more difficult....still can o but cost more... For e.g for 3 room flats, only one of the toilet can install heater point only. But many people both toilets also install.
  8. Can anyone teach me how to choose kitchen sink? Is there a different between a top-mount and under-mount sink? Thanks.
  9. Nevermind lo.. now i know my neighbour downstair 'pattern', every little things complain... sian.... Its quite bad for me this period coz i starting on a new job this week, on weekday when i rush down to site, it is all dark, no lights, so cannot take photo. Today i am at site too but forgot the camera, but anyway nothing to take also, just the installed basin, WCs and water pipes. Coming week should be more 'eventful' so to speak. Then try to take more photos...
  10. Maybe like what my contractor says, boxing up is only a temporary fixture. Conceal is like conceal with cement. But still be careful, in govt eyes, anything not explicitly stated is by default a NO.
  11. Alamak, your work is moving even faster than mine. My contractor says most of his workers are held up at the IR jobsite. Haiz.... My intended HO is mid Jan. Nowi think cannot already. Maybe have to move infirst then the do my carpentry work. I am thinking worst case scenario, got lights got water i can stay liao. So you did your false ceiling for dining afterall...
  12. My Contractor told me the wrong size for one of my WC. Hence i bought and delivered wrongly. They will re-deliver tomorrow... As of this week, electrical cabling and water pipes are up. Most fittings have been installed except for the wrong size WC and some toilet accessories. Aircon installation suppose to be yesterday afternoon but the unit below me complained to town council about the noise that are created in the morning. Hence after 1pm cannot carry out any noisy work. So i have to postphone the aircon installation to this coming Wed. Coming Tuesday is ceilnig works and the kitchen doorway partition wall. Thur and /or Fri is painting work. Fri afternoon is installation of window grilles and wrought iron gate. I hope everythig goes fine.
  13. Maybe i should check out the hooks... i only know 3M advertise its adhesive on tv, that advert got Bryan Wong inside...
  14. Wa lao, electrical trunking also use laser... steady... u picked the right guy. When my window contractor do up my window frames, he used strings only...
  15. How do we use the diffuser on the tube? Sorry cos' i see the picture from dama website but can't figure out how these 2 works together. I only know that the diffuser is for diffusing the light. :-p You are talking about the 3M hangers or adhesives? I am only aware that 3M produce a range of adhesives and tapes etc..
  16. Had a discussion with my Contractor on site today: He said things like false ceiling, L-Box are considered as temporary fixtures and need not follow the 2.4m clearance height for ceiling. If you are building a cement ceiling then have to observe the 2.4m height clearance. This is something new. I think i have 2 options now. First is to do cove lightings, can cover up the gas and water pipe. Second is to have the pipes exposed and just fix a hanging light above the dining table... or both.
  17. Measured again just now. My floor to celing height for dining area is 241cm. If do false ceiling, ceiling will be lowered by another 4 inches = 231cm = Fail HDB regulation... But dunno why contractor did not remind me on this.... Now i dunno what to do for my dining area lighting... :-S
  18. Few pictures... electrical wiring is up and toilet fittings ready to be installed tomorrow... My living room tv console power points, tel point, scv and LAN cables all coming in from bedrooms... look ugly... 4 power points seem too much already... This is 4 master bedroom:
  19. His cost nearly the same as what is first quoted to me - electrician intro by my contracctor. Damm ex....
  20. I believe he told me before but i forgotten. I have to go measure again on Saturday.... How do you mount your "dressed up" tubes? Does it need false ceiling? I am thinking of not doing the false ceiling for dining already bcos it makes the ceiling too low and also it cost $480 :-p I am going to stick those stainless steel bar with hooks for me to hang things. Like Ikea kitchen style. It got to be strong enuff to hold bottles like oyster source, cooking oil etc... Never use such products before....
  21. Hi Ossify, do you know the colour of the oil sealer, i am not sure if my contractor is going to put the base coat for me...
  22. Some places they sell cheaper i think because they give the shower head is those plastic cheapo kind. I got mine at $170 together with basins, WCs and stuffs and after some negotiation. Initially quoted to me is $190. IMM got one 707 shop selling at $180 i think. If it is near yr place, can get it, cos u travel far just to get it at $170 also not much difference....
  23. Can anyone advise on how i can mount my cooking utensils/crockeries on the backing if i am using: a. Glass backing b. Stainless Steel backing My kitchen has no tiles. Can drilling be done on stainless steel? Use 3M products to hang things if i am using glass backing? Do they stick firm on the glass? Advice pls... thanks.....
  24. Updates.... Electrical wiring and stuffs are 90% up, ceiling closure and partion door for kitchen doorway will be coming very soon. I have started work this week so no time to go down in the day to take photos. Will try to take more photos on Saturday during the day time.
