  1. I agreed with Fini. I have been following this thread and I find that the questions that you asked are very weird. Seems like you are interrogating others....Any hidden agenda? If you want to know more, pls be more sensitive when you ask...It's a Sunday, don't get on other people nerves, everyone needs to relax
  2. My personal feel is that it's just a matter of time that Ah Soon declared bankrupt or run away with the money. There are so many signs pointing to closure of business. As for exisiting Ah Soon's customers, please team up and arrange to meet up with him asap. Do not DELAY anymore. So many people have paid the money and yet Ah Soon is unable to complete the work... Something is definitely not right...How to cover 10 holes when Ah Soon has only 9 covers??? As for those who want to get quotation from him, my advise is that even if the quote is 80% cheaper than others, it is not a good basis of comparison.
  3. When we choose a contractor or ID, we don't pay money to suffer nor do we need to understand their 苦中...I pay money to get their service and not to understand their 苦中..If we know that this contractor (in this case Ah Soon) has the tendency to default on the HO date, why should we engage his service in the first place even though we indicate the HO date on the contract?? So that we can sue him?? That will cause more inconvenience and problems! When we renovate a house, most importantly is prompt HO and good quality, of course paying market rate. I have no doubt that the quotation from Ah Soon may be cheap but I strongly believe that if you do enough comparisons, the differences will be small. Seashell, You mentioned that you have saved close to $18k? Let me ask...How much is your total renovation cost? $100k or $200k? If you are talking about $35k to $45k, do you think any contractor is able to slash nearly 40% of the costs? How about the quality of the materials? Good workmanship is one factor. But if the materials are made of inferior quality, no matter how good the workmanship is, they will not last. I hope everyone can learn from Jesslyn's lesson..In my opinion, I think the $10k savings that she gained is not worth to compensate the sufferings that she got from her in laws...their relationships with the in-law have been damaged. Do you think Jesslyn can still get the same kind of repsect that she used to get from the in-laws?? How about the calls to Ah Soon, time and effort to chase after him? How are all these to be measured? Likewise, if your neighbours see that your renov took so long to finish, how do they think of you? they will think that you are stupid or incapable to find such a contractor. Sorry if I have offended anyone. These are just my humble opinions.
  4. Hi Merryman, If you are not defending Lynn, why do you question about Mickey35 sharing on his experience with Lynn and asked him to be more convincing? More posts=more convincing??? If you encountered an ID who couldn't provide you the service that is expected of him/her, we will voice out in this forum and it's up for the others to judge. I am not related to Mickey35 but yet I agree with what he said about you "I can understand you are defending your house design to prove that you have make the right choice, or she is giving 'great discount' for you to defend her. " I shared the same experience with "highland" on Lynn. We came to this forum in search for a good ID as renovating a house is a big committment. For me, I thought that Lynn is the best ID from Ideal House after reading the forum and called to make appt with her. The first meeting was okay and she promised to give me a quotation after 3 days. After 3 days, there was no reply from her and I called again. This time, she promised to give it to me the following day and again it was an empty promise!! Imagine that this is only a quotation and she has given you two empty promises. I wonder what will happen if I gave her the whole project. I think my blood pressure will be the first to shoot up!! Like what Mickey35 has shared with us "This forum is for sharing your encounter/experience with the ID regardless good or bad. Sometime some ID initially is very good. But as he/she received good recommendation, with a lot of new business coming, the atitude will change and become arrogance. Therefore, there will be mix review from different forumers." I don't deny that Lynn may provide good service in the past to customers like you but people do change. Like what negarawan said "When a ID tell me how good he is in the past, I always tell him I only look at the future, not the past. I don't walk with him in the past. Tell me what you can do for me now, and beyond." Having a blog doesn't mean that you are more convincing than others and give you the right to question about others' comments. Lastly, you mentioned that "I just asked for people to read the last 3 pages of every t-blog in my sig for general feedback." In my opinion, if you can't take negative feedback, pls delete "general feedback". Cheers
  5. I have visted U-Home during my search for IDs and was served by one of the Directors. I was very impressed by his presentation and almost placed them in my top list. But what pissed me off was that when I told them that I need time to consider as this is my first visit, his face and tone changed totally. I was taken aback by this sudden change of attitude. Later I went to do more IDs visits and found that the quotation given by U-Home was marked substantially high (40% higher). One word of advice to all is that Please do your research before you commit.
  6. I went to see him once and got a qotation from him too. Even though his quotation is itemised, it is on a high side. I have compared his quotation with another 4-5 quotations from IDs and contractors, all itemised. In the end, his quotation is considered one of the highest. Comprehensive breakdown is not equal to cheap...anyway, most IDs will provide comprehensive breakdown quotations, if you have visited enough IDs and there is nothing to shout about. I have been through this tedious process of choosing the ID with the right quotation and of course with the right chemistry. Adrian is indeed very friendly and service-oriented. But in the end, it's all about money. One piece of advice to all who are searching for IDs, make sure you get at least 3-4 quotations to make an informed decision unless you have a very deep pocket to burn.
  7. I agree with Mickey35. She is not as good as what the forumers said. She lacks in urgency and you have to rush her for things. I spoke to her based on good recommendations in this forum. She really lacks in service. As for merryman, how are you related to her? Why are you so defensive?
