  1. Hello Gareth, I have no idea what CNM is. Would you mind explaining it, please?
  2. Oil removes sticky stuff. Any oil that is convenient and available in your home. Cooking oil is good and always available.
  3. Crikes!! I'm amazed there's so much heat - thankfully of low intensity - going round and round about washing machines. My LG 14331 is about 6 months old, have used it for heavy washes, quick washes, drying, short spin, all sorts of options and it has worked just fine. Noise? Barely heard it running. Anyway, who has time to hang around the washing machine? Btw, I've just recce'd washing machines on request of a family member and guess what? LG's the recommendation of the guy who incidentally isn't an LG promoter. There's now a 9kg front loader besides other models. Also would like to put in my penny's worth of thought on Miele. Every country has it's own 'hero' brand. It seems to be Miele here though I don't know why. Just like buying a notebook, whatever you have decided on, don't look back and say "I should have...(bought something else!)" Good luck.
  4. Looking for best water filter pitcher. Some say Brita, some Pur, so many choices. Which is the best that you have used?
  5. What can be done about controls that don't work after less than 1 year? Can it be due to underuse? Do the $12 controls work?
  6. electric all metal kettle. none at tangs on day i was there. stove type is too risky, might forget about it.
  7. I'm looking for a 1.7L kettle without any plastic part inside. And a flask to put hot water in, also only metal without plastic spout. Looked at most shops in the city, BD, HN, dept stores, none has all metal. Does it exist in any brand?
  8. thanks. what about gaggenau?
  9. thanks for the tip. I checked out dyson. even the promo model is very expensive. the pet hair attachment looks like it helps brush animal fur out of carpet and the suction cleans it up. I would think that any vacuum cleaner with strong enough suction will do the job. if pet fur gets in too deep, brush it out before using the vacuum cleaner might work as well. :-)
  10. Which OS software are you using, original or ?
  11. Hi there. Logitec is globally recognized brand, acceptable as mid high level for PC speakers, pleasant and not exaggerated sound.
  12. I am wondering how much suction power to vacuum clean a carpet with 2 cats in the apartment.
  13. Not in a hurry to buy one. But here's some interesting development going on at the Singapore Polytechnic though it doesn't say when the invention will be put into a dish washing machine. It appeared on tv news a few days ago. Students have developed a technique for washing dishes using small air bubbles that move about in the water thereby removing dirt, unlike the conventional use of water sprays. Does any reader have more info on this?
  14. I've just read on another forum that there was an offer on at Parkway Parade. Perhaps you could check that?
  15. I say, this discussion has found a new home under a different title!! Just to pass on sthg that I had come across when reading up on washers, there were some negative comments from US users on other models of Tromm but not the 14331. That could be the reason the mfr has wisely dropped the name. About the imbalance of washing duvet on its own, I have found that throwing in a few pillow cases or garments with the wash solved the problem. No imbalance, no noise, even with previous washers. It's true that we can never put in the full dry weight of laundry without overstuffing. Keep to your regular load and the 14331 will adjust to the appropriate time. It might perhaps be shorter than the usual washing time of your previous machine. I don't say that it will definitely be so, but try and see. A fair judgment on any washer dryer would have to be from one's experience of having used a machine of that sort, not by mere reasoning alone. No offence meant if anyone reading this has already offered her/his opinion. It is to be taken as an opinion and not a factual statement, right? A happy new year to one and all.
  16. You may wanr to read under the topic LG. I learned how to choose a good machine from all the comments in that forum.
  17. Since there are no replies, I've decided to post a copy of what to do when choosing a dishwasher, in case any one is interested. Let me know if it's helpful and if you have a dishwasher or intend to buy one. - - Step 1 Measure the space where the dishwasher will go. Most dishwashers are either 18 or 24 inches wide and can hold 12 place settings. Step 2 Check the number of spray levels. The more directions of spray that a dishwasher has, the cleaner your dishes will be. Step 3 Look for a dishwasher that heats water to at least 140 degrees. Often, the water heating unit is located within the dishwasher itself. Step 4 Choose a dishwasher with a food grinder or heavy-duty disposal if you don't want to pre-rinse. Step 5 Check the Energy Guide label for the energy-efficiency rating. The lower the number, the less energy the dishwasher will use in a year. Step 6 Choose a delay start function if you will want to program the dishwasher to run when you are not home or at night. Step 7 Consider the kinds of cycles you want the dishwasher to run. Options include light cycles for washing lightly-soiled dishes or china and crystal; normal cycles for normal, everyday dishwashing; heavy or "pots and pans" cycles for dishes or baking pans with stuck-on food; and "rinse and hold" cycles to remove food and odors if dishes will sit in the dishwasher for some time before a full washing cycle is run. Step 8 Buy a sound-dampening package if you think the dishwasher will be too noisy. Step 9 Find out what the warranty covers and whether or not it is included in the price of the dishwasher. Decide on an extended warranty if desired. Step 10 Be sure the dishwasher can be serviced locally.
  18. I've learned that extended warranties are not issued by the stores but by various insurance cos. eg, i understand that extended warranties bought from BD are in reality from a japanese insurance co with which they have worked out a special deal. this may explain why extended warranties vary in price. the store at U Sq told me that their extended warranty could be on the upper end of 200+ because, the guy on the phone said, it's an aig warranty. it's good practice to ask questions even though everyone would wish for a good working machine and never need to call on the warranty. anyone reading this knows where to buy lowest price mattress? and good leather sofa? could be fake leather as long as it looks good and wears well. nice talking to a community all of who are on the same side :-)
  19. Interesting bit of information, leafania. Does it mean that LG won't honor it's own warranty?
  20. Thanks to everyone who has posted on this forum. After reading the entire forum I went to buy the LG 14331 and discovered that it was the last day of a promo! What a blessing. It is quiet during the wash and is not more noisy than other brands that I've used during the spin. Overall, I am pleased with it. Smooth operation. Large tub is really useful. It is smart too so I can do a lighter load any time. Btw, can anyone offer help about a dishwasher? Or know a forum about it? I couldn't find one in reno forum.
  21. I am looking for info about buying a dishwasher. Like which brand, size?
  22. What a load of information. Actually I had wanted to know the normal washing time for WD 10281. Does anybody know? After Cromodora's excellent reasoning, I'm now leaning in favor of the 14331. Is it worth asking at Mega Store? Hope they still have it on promo.
