  1. thanks for putting up the pic of your mom's hood! they cut the hood pretty deep it seems? is the hood wall mounted?
  2. that's right. its the same case of "Don't **** with the chef" - they can do stuff to sabotage your home without you knowing it until months/years down the road. We've kept it very amiable even when we speak to our PM's manager, no direct complaints but more to show that our patience is running out. Aiyah anyway don't think so much. It will be over before you know it..
  3. yep, trunking will be above the hood. my concern is that the trunking's depth maybe about 3" but the hood's depth is 11". it will look very weird with the hood having a empty space above it.. thanks, yes my plasterer also suggested this last night when i checked with him. not sure if my contractor will be able to cut the hood though. but it seems possible according to the cross-section drawing extracted from the brochure: has anyone done this before (i.e. cut the top part of the hood)?
  4. you're right - no way..hahah. thanks again for your help!
  5. argh. never considered that...i suppose we'll paint it some washable paint or something. should work right?
  6. second appointment very fast, within 10-15mins if i remember correctly.
  7. thanks v.much for your advice...but we've already bought the hood! sigh... i think our best option is to make the boxup as thick as the hood.
  8. wah so lucky, yours came with the chicken-wire glass! I had to negotiate w/my PM to absorb the cost of mine leh! like sam said, you must be very excited! looking forward to see your transformation..
  9. yay pcomaster! you did it!! congrats on finally starting your own t-blog! looking forward to see your floorplan, house pics etc..
  10. shouldn't u have thought about the COV before putting down the 1k? 40k COV is alot to pay, in my opinion... HDB valuation report buyers always have to pay - that is the standard. how big is the flat? maybe you can consider the amenities in the neighbourhood and distance to buses/MRT..what made you put down the 1k in the first place - what did u like about the place?
  11. my hood's like this: so do you mean the trunking should be above the hood? is the hood mounted on the ceiling or mounted on the wall? thanks for your help, btw!
  12. Citygas Pipes Installation The gas man is now over at my place running gas pipes and installing the water heater. This was supposed to have been done on Monday but had to postpone it cos my plastering was not completed until Monday itself. We used masking tape to mark out the positions of the dryer and stove for him. Hopefully there are no screw ups... EDIT: Went up to check last night. Neatly done, no complaints. Thanks Citygas!
  13. yes, that's what we will be doing...but then the hood how? is the hood installed below the box up? if its below, then the hood will be sticking out of the box up right? looks very weird leh!
  14. i have a contact of a guy who can do cement screed flooring but you have to supervise the process yourself..we considered this option but decided against it cos we felt it was too much work to coordinate. if you want, i can PM you the contact..er, btw you also must be able to speak chinese cos he's from china.
  15. no leh..my MIL's place has 2 aircons on one wall, one opp. sofa, one opp. dining table. but hers is a 5-rm lah. for 3-rm, not sure how far apart your aircons will be but in terms of appearance, i don't think it'll be weird. in terms of efficiency, maybe you wanna check if one unit is sufficient for the space.
  16. My kitchen does not have top cabinets. I have a chimney hood. I will be boxing up the gas/water pipes which will run above the hood. . . . How to box up the pipes without the hood looking weird?
  17. hey yuene, yes you can get a system-3 aircon for your place. i'm using a system 4! i don't think it will look weird with a ceiling fan & 2 aircons, as long as they're not too close together..
  18. you also have that ventilation hole above the main door? and you're also gonna replace it with a chicken wire fixed panel?
  19. the link is in my signature, see the "For Sale" sign below?
  20. yours only 12 years? mine's like 30 years old!! after plastering, i see fresh sharp edges.. hey sam, thanks for the link..very informative site. will be deciding on my painter soon.. hey dexufto, i'm as much of a noob too. lol anyway yes, you are right that if HDB ever needs to access the pipes, the boxup will have to be hacked. we initially wanted to create an access panel but according to my PM, they can access the WC sewage pipe which we left exposed (see pic with ventilation fan). we chose to put the ventilation fan at the WC area cos of the er...smell the WC will generate. it costs $118 (before GST) from Choo Chiang Marketing and $185 for the installation . thanks for helping me answer, matashi!
  21. not changing main door? is it very old those kind (i.e. like mine)? we also viewed our place once before putting pen to paper. apparently, most would view 2-3 times before deciding..lol.
  22. you're most welcome.. you can make a visit and check out their prices. if i recall rightly, its about $300 for a round table that can sit four. this price is very close to if you were to buy the wood and laminate it yourself, at least based on my own calculations lah.
