  1. 3D Designs (Revised) Kitchen This will be the final design. It looks totally different and much more plain without the hood (Didnt know that a nice hood can add so much to the aesthetic of the design). Anyway, we wont be installing a hood, so this should be good enough... We will be hanging some photos or painting on the wall where the downlight is to make it looks better. Living Room As mentioned previously, we do not like the previous feature wall design, so we told Calis (Designer) what we have in mind.. These are what she came up with. Not bad but maybe we got to top up some money since there are more cabinets and the feature wall is bigger now. She did 3 options for us to choose. Living Room 3D Design Option #1 Living Room 3D Design Option #2 Option #2 is out since we want our TV to be wall mounted. Living Room 3D Design Option #3 We prefer this one. The cabinet looks nicer on the right.
  2. Is Broadband better? My friend told me cable better because the broadband quite unstable sometimes...
  3. Yah.. If not for football, i wont take MioTV also..
  4. http://www.renotalk.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=28514 Are you thinking of engaging him?
  5. It's funny that after such a big hoohah happening, people are still thinking of engaging them, asking for their contacts, etc...
  6. Oh ok.. How much do they charge you to open the line again? For me, I subscribed to Singtel MioTV for the football channels and since phone points are included in my electrical package, that's why i thought of just having the point at the TV console area and study area... no harm. Singtel is ....... I have to pay the land line phone bill every month in order to watch TV (cos the MioTV also running on their broadband modem).. even if i dont use any home phone... stupid...
  7. You mean your house dont have the phone point? I think should be no problem asking the electrician to open the line again right?
  8. Good Good! So, you are now waiting for the rest of your furniture right? Must post the "after-reno" pictures yea?
  9. Ceiling & Partition Work Done Kitchen Cabinet Base Done So, now that tiling, windows, electrical, partition & ceiling works are done, we are left with painting, glass & doors, and carpentry works. With Darren's (ID) being on MC due to his health problems, the people coordinating our job are Richard & Calis. Hopefully, our renovation can proceed and complete by end of this month. Meeting Calis & Richard today!
  10. Ceiling & Partition Work Done Walk-in Wardrobe We can see the wall on the left of the photo which used to be the storeroom door being boxed up and now serve as the entrance area for the Master Bedroom. Our Master Bedroom has 2 entrances. Haa.. In The Wardrobe Master Toilet Vanity

  12. Thank you for the reminder!! I would think that the contractor is smart enough to add some stopper to prevent the door from breaking the mirror. Hmm.. I shall remind them again...
  13. The shoe cabinet which is the whole height cabinet with the mirror is 70cm long and 2.4m high... This is full height shoe cabinet so should be enough for both of us.. lucky my wife and me dont have many shoes... The settee by the side is 60cm long and 45cm high... Oh.. I forgot to mention we wont be having any hood.. haa. ok.. then all the more we should have the dark grey L box and sewage cabinets right? Never mind, will ask the ID to change the colour and see whether the colour looks nice...
  14. Haa. Ok.. I know the feeling. Like everytime when we go out and pass by any furniture or electrical stores, always feel the urge to pop in and see although you have been to thousands of furniture stores already.. Congrats on getting your key! You confirmed your ID? When will reno start?
  15. 3D Designs Walk-in Wardrobe Our Walk-in Wardrobe comes with casement doors so this has to be revised... Walk-in Wardrobe Dressing Table Master Toilet We dont like the suspended cabinet with one piece of a different colour.. haa.. feels like we are adding contrast for the sake of adding contrast... Common Toilet I dont think the distance from the basin to the window is big enough to accomodate such a big mirror.. And of course, in reality, there are sewage pipes at the side of the toilet bowl so it shouldnt look as nice and clean cut... haa..
  16. 3D Designs Living Room We like the white & grey wall colour combination but i dont like the feature wall design. Surprisingly, the sofa that we bought looks abit like the one in the design. Foyer We like the full length mirror on the shoe cabinet because we can check our attire before leaving the house, hehe... Kitchen The pink and white and grey combination looks very nice... But then, our house colour theme is white base, so we might change the pink. Or else the Kitchen design will be too different from the rest of the house... Kitchen (Version 2) This is the revised Kitchen colour. The grey and white combination makes the Kitchen looks brighter and more spacious. But, i am thinking of retaining the dark grey / brown colour for the L-Box and sewage cabinets. Master Bedroom The feature wall looks ok but wonder if we will see any contrast for the real thing... Haa.. The bed we got is platform bed too and something like that too..
  17. Not bad! Ikea stuff actually lasted for 6 years!!! $39 divided by 6 years... You only pay $6.50 per year for the bedside tables.. haa.
  18. yah.. the smaller ones are the Kullen series... Looks like Ikea bedside table is quite a popular choice over here...
  19. Haa.. Samgalz seems more anxious than me.. They look fine but need changes, of course. Shall upload tomorrow ok?
  20. Oh.. We didnt see the Vika desks at Ikea yesterday.. Probably missed it... Shall go see when we go Ikea next time. Thanks for the recommendation.
  21. My ID was initially hospitalised for slip disc... then one sunday he met us and complained about his stomach got alot of air and abit uncomfortable... Then that night he was hospitalised for appendicitis... Then i last heard he had an inflammation probably due to the operations... Its been more than 3 weeks and he is still in hospital... His staff said his condition like very serious... So, i guess our job will be pass on to his staff.
  22. Yah. That's what i think too.. So, yesterday evening we were at Courts Megastore looking for matress then walked over to Ikea to check things out. In the end, my wife said she like the Expedit bookshelves because the shelves are square shape which might be better. At least it wont sink if we put lots of books as compared to those one single whole piece of shelf (Billy Bookshelves) which will curve at the middle portion. The Expedit ones are more expensive though at $199 (w149 x h149 x d39): The White Billy bookshelves cost only $79 (w40 x h202 x d28): We will be getting the simple Malm bedside tables (w40 x h55 x d48) which cost $79: The study table, we are not so sure because we dont really like the Galant Study Table Combination. We like this Besta Burs Desk which is long enough for two to use their laptop at the same time.. Only problem is the depth is too narrow at only 40cm (one long ruler and one short ruler length only).. So, its not really a study table. The Besta Burs Desk cost $549 (w180 x h74 x d40)
  23. Haa.. I dont have photos of the sofa... I look online and found something rather similar but ours will be in grey and 4-seaters...
  24. Recent Buy King Size Platform Bed Frame with Mattress ($2680) from Zenith Home Furnishing @ Sungei Kadut. The bed frame actually cost $1300. Initially, we did not want to get the mattress from them because we did not like any mattress they have over there. We told the sales person that we wanted pocketed spring mattress with a layer of latex top (King Koil or Dunlopillo) and he said he should be able to get for us provided we tell him the model we want. So, he calculated and gave a price of $2380 for both bed frame and mattress. So, we went for some mattress hunting. Been to Harvey Norman, Centerpoint Robinsons, The Furniture Mall & Courts to try their mattress. There are some Dunlopillo mattresses (the Spine Support range) at Harvey Norman that we like but apparently, those are their house brands and the guy cannot get for us. He recommended us this Dunlopillo "Elizabeth" which we like too but it is those top range mattress which cost $3000 at one of the shop in The Furniture Mall. He said he can get for us at $2500, so we have to top up the difference. This is obviously out of our budget so we did not want to get that mattress although we like it alot. So, we went to Courts megastore yesterday to try out the mattress. We like this King Koil "Serenity" mattress which is selling at $1999 after discount. Hopefully, he can get for us that mattress without any need to top up or maybe just a little topup. Retractable EZ Hi-Dry Clothes Hanging System ($600) from Ezzi Living. During our shopping at The Furniture Mall, we came across this Tame Promotion Services (What a name!) which specialises in those retractable clothes hanging technology. We first came across this shop during our shopping at the furniture fair 2 weeks ago @ the Expo. We wanted to get those clothes hanging rack that can slide down and slide out to be dried in the sun. So, this Tame shop actually has one system that they are selling at a promotional price of $788 instead of the usual $900+. The sales guy seem to be very confident that his product is the cheapest in Singapore, saying that we cant find anywhere cheaper in Singapore. But, i do not buy his idea and moreover, we do not like his attitude (I dont like those hardsell kind of sales tactics). So, we decided not to buy first and do more research. I came across this Ezzi Living from the forum, went to their website, gave them a call and was quoted $630 for the same system. And apparently, their system is from Australia and the Tame's system is dont know from Taiwan or China. I arranged for the Ezzi Living guy to come to my new house to take measurement and do up a quotation. So, last Saturday he came by and i told him i will take up the system with him on the spot if he reduce the price to $600. He agreed so we will be installing this retractable EZ Hi-Dry clothes hanging system for our new house!!! No more carrying heavy bamboo poles out from the windows to dry in the sun or trying to hang the poles onto the hooks in the kitchen.. Yay! This is the system that we bought, http://www.ezziliving.com/slide.htm 4-Seater Sofa "Sandy" ($1700) from St Louis at The Furniture Mall. We were supposed to shop for mattress but in the end, spotted this nice sofa at this shop, St Louis. It is a low 4-seater sofa that came in fabric. We do not like those L-shape leather sofas and we prefer fabric because it seems cooler and can be washed. I prefer those long one piece sofa (4-seater) ones. We didnt want to buy a sofa so fast ("sofa so fast" rhymes!). The 3 seater one was selling at around $1600 and the 4-seater one at $1780 (after discount). We said we will get it only at $1700 and since they agreed, we just buy it. I realised that it is really important for wife and husband to have about the same tastes and preferences for things. If not, there might be a lot of disagreements when it comes to house renovation and buying furnitures, etc. Luckily, up till now, me and wife have quite the same kind of tastes (both of us like roughly the same colour combination for the house, the same designs of mattress and sofas, etc.). Of course, we do have some disagreements on things like i prefer sliding glass door whereas she feels casement glass door is enough; I wanted to get bookshelves from Ikea but she feels Ikea stuff will spoil easily, etc. So, both have to come to a compromise at times. Luckily, everything is going quite well at the moment.. except our ID (Darren) seems to be permanently staying in hospital. He said he will ask his guy to email me the 3D today for us to see first, then we shall discuss when he is discharged. Hopefully, he can get well soon. PS: Darren's staff called and told me she just emailed me the 3D design! gotta go!
  25. Oh.. Poor you.. I like to play in the rain when i was young thats why i like rain shower.. Was it still selling at $360 when you were there? Normal rainshower with mixer and attached handheld shower head cost at least $400+.. So, maybe you can convince him that it is really a good buy?
