  1. For conservancy fees, no need to go town council at all. At least thats so for mine in tpy. Just call up your town council and tell them. They will tell you how much to pay for current month (pro-rated) and subsequent months. You can pay by SAM machine or internet banking or request for them to send you a giro form. They will tell you the account number to pay to.
  2. Hi, How long does it take to apply hdb renovation permit? I'm thinking if its just a few days, then I will apply for it immediately after 2nd appt where i am the rightful owner, instead of asking the seller to apply.
  3. I wondered if i need to break down and rebuild the whole wall just to get rid of the window? Or is it as simple as removing the glass panes and then just add material to cover up the area such that it becomes like a normal wall? Can this be done?
  4. hehheh, no problem, actually ee-ling is a mix of both me and wifey names.
  5. hehheh, actually I am the hubby. hmm..never really considered the ventilation issue. But we don't cook very often. When cooking, i might just close the door to living room and open the service balcony door abit. Another reason why I want to remove the service balcony is becos I don't like the sharp edges of the window. See pic to understand what i mean. I have this type in my house now and sometimes when cleaning can accidentally get cut. Its also more difficult to clean.
  6. Hi El Nino, We are not into having a bathtub so definitely will not have one. What do u mean by mbr bath open concept? Surely the shower and wc area must be walled up right? So expose the basin? There is a window at the wall between the service balcony and kitchen, just besides the door. But i thought of removing that to lessen the maintenance.
  7. I think it looks slanted if taken with reference to that brown door. That door is ajar thats why it makes the partition look slanted.
  8. Latest change in plan. Going to rotate the storeroom so that there is more space at the main door entrance to create some kind of foyer and space for shoe rack.
  9. Hi, you mean yours is 90 sqm? 104sqm is quite standard for old 4-roomers mah.
  10. I'm having a problem with the kitchen. Its small at 3m by 3m. How can i create more storage/cabinet spaces? I think the position of the 2 doors does not help. I'm thinking of shifting the position of the door as shown below. I like the idea of having a bartop. Any ideas how I can create more cabinet spaces?
  11. The 2 bedrooms are small though. The kitchen is also small, due to the service balcony. We don't want to integrate the service balcony though.
  12. Nope, not going to have open concept, as want to keep kitchen separate.
  13. Hello everybody, I've been reading this forum for sometime and gaining lotsa information from all the kind folks here. Me and fiancee going for a 4A resale somewhere in central north as our love nest, waiting for first appt in late April. Already been doing paper planning and thought of setting a t blog here to share with you guys and also to seek opinions. For a start, here is the original floorplan. Its 104 sqm. We plan to keep the reno simple with the emphasis of maintenance free. Hence, minimal hacking and built-in stuffs. This is our current configuration from floorplanner: While waiting for the first appt in late April, shortlisting contractor/ID and plan to start work hopefully in June. Do give your comments and opinions of my floorplan and share how you might have plan it. All comments are welcome!
  14. Hi, 7th month (hungry ghost festival) is around Aug to Sept. Most chinese avoid renovation during this period. I'm expecting to receive my keys around June to July. As such, i might only have only 1 month or less to finish my reno before the period starts on 10 Aug. There is risk that the reno might not be able to complete before 10 Aug. I wonder whats the practice in the reno industry? Do they accept the customers insistence to pause all reno during the period and restart after that? Do any of you had experiences of renovating around this period?
  15. Hi, newbie here. We are now in the process of searching for ID or contractor for resale flat. Wonder if it is a must (by hdb) to engage one with HDB licence? What is the advantage of engaging one or implications of engaging one without? I've been flipping through some magazines and they feature ID companies some of which do not have HDB licence. However they seem to be professional enough and have good business. So is it ok to engage them? Thanks for reading.
