  1. Yes the good stuff is at level 5, near the end before the lingerie section. We bought 4 tencel pillow, could have bought more for all the kids but already bought some micro-gel pillows at robinsons GSS costing $45 each. This warehouse sale is a better deal. Go for it man, if getting to Sungei Kadut is not much of a trouble. To reiterate my point, was at an atrium sale at Tampines Mall just now and guess what, King Koi micro-gel s/s topper was selling at $149. I bought for $70! at the warehouse. Like my husband says, retail business is a scam. Never buy retail price, even the so called SALE price is still being mark up 100%. Yup, that was a good joke.
  2. Sleeping on Tencel Its the weekend again! Onward we charge to another Industrial park. This time we ended up at Sungei Kadut for the King Koi Warehouse sale. Looking at the overwhelming turnout, we decided to strategise our beddings hunt. First, we check out things bought by other customers while walking into the warehouse. We came upon furniture on sale at the entrance of the building but we skipped that totally and moved on to our target, which is the Big Sale Tent. We did a quick walk around the humongous tent set up outside the building starting from the right most aisle glancing left and right and mentally taking note of prices. Next we moved on to the foyer of the building at level one which sells King Koi mattresses and beds. We were eyeing the 3-in-1 pull out trundle bed retailing at $999 for the kids but will leave that to the last. Level 5 Yes! the women folks have been vindicated. The good things are at level 5, after a long corridor, office cubicles, sofas, more (higher quality) beds and mattresses, we arrived at the end of the showroom to find high end stuff at a good discount. They have feather/down pillows, silk pillows and Tencel pillows all at $30 each. After testing the pillows, i had my eyes set on the Organic Tencel pillow made from wood pulp and is eco friendly and 100% biodegradeable (in other words, a politically correct pillow). Dont ask me why i need to sleep on a politically correct pillow but it sure feels soft and fluffy. Most importantly i was sold by the advertising text that says "......Organic tencel pillow is also super soft, strong and has its own unique moisture management system to ensure you an orgasmic .....i mean organic yet luxurious sleep all night long". Here's a link on What is Tencel Also bought micro-gel mattress topper s/s @ $70 and queen @ $100 ( Its a steal! actually bought same brand king topper@ $245 from robinsons' GSS ). Not forgetting "luxurious sleep all night long" Tencel King size quilt @ $190. Bought more stuff like bolsters, mattress protector, quilt for kids from the tent before heading home. For those who are interested, the sale is ending on Monday, 2 Aug. For the ladies, you know where to go. For the men, aim higher, dont get stuck at level 1 . hee hee
  3. You can check out The Nature Co at 15 Joan Road at upper thomson area near TCS. Here their website, natureco. If your water feature is small, you can DIY. You can buy everything from them and self assemble. Looks quite straight forward.
  4. Will definitely consider it if we ever open a restaurant. They are exquisitely beautiful.
  5. I really hate to take all your money NeO. What is your wife gonna say if she finds out that she is not going to have her hansgrohe rainshower, blumotion drawers, brandt oven all because the short Kirin is an early riser and was already at the soccer pitch with 3 Saru before you made this post? *$%! you are right! They are @#$%* Gorgeous! To be honest, this zoo is quite challenged in the department of taste and even more challenged in the department of finance (dont even dare to make any bets be it Toto or chap ji kee, cannot afford to lose that last dollar lah). Thanks for sharing the expensive love.
  6. Have you tried those from Nile Valley? I know Thread count can be misleading sometimes cos it can be based on per 10cm sq or per sq inch. And most of the brands just state TC without stating the unit of measurement. For example saw a King Koi duvet set that states 550 TC and on closer inspection it says 550TC per 10cm sq and 300 TC per sq inch. Whatever it is 1000 TC still sounds luxurious. Cant wait to use my new bedsheets
  7. Let's move on to the kitchen As you can see, its an open concept kitchen opening out to the dining area at the far end near the windows. Cabinets not up yet so you have to use your imagination. Floors tiles: same as living room, 600 x 600cm Cabinets doors: mostly white glossy laminate, top hung cabinet and larder unit will be brown. Counter top : white solid surface (easier to maintain than black, less obvious if there are scratches) Floor tiles for Maid's room and yard Floor and wall tiles for powder room and mosaic to make it more groovy (hubby loves mosaic) This pic does not do justice to the tiles and mosaic. Will post another one when it is all done up and scrubbed clean to be continued again....
  8. The blum System as I understand it... Blumotion for door hinges. You clip on this thing on the hinges and the doors will close slowly at the end, ie no slamming. My carpenter provided blumotion hinges for all my cardboards and cabinets at no extra charge. It ranges from $2.41 - $3.91 per blumotion hinge. Try negotiating with your carpenter to throw it in for free. Tandembox pull-out system - Drawers with soft closing runners. Highly recommended, the feel is great! You will have to pay extra for these drawers. They have 4 kinds of standard drawers and 4 inner drawers depending on the height. I paid $1700+ for 21 drawers with integrated blumotion. Cheaper for carpenter to buy for you. Servo Drive - expensive and not practical. The drawers kept bumping us at the slightest touch. Quite irritating if you ask me.
  9. Still **** Room Close-up look at the living room white brick feature wall. We are also having this feature at the Music room wall and Masterbed room wall. These walls are newly erected so we can use the nicer (and more expensive) brick to achieve this effect. We are using Formica wood grain vinyl stripes for part of the living room, dining room, vanity area in the kids toilet and all the bedrooms on the second floor. We wanted wooden floor but real timber is difficult to maintain and costly. We had parquet in the previous house but it could not stand the abuse handled out by my kids. It was full of scratches and dents and the gaps in between became bigger. IDWET recommended vinyl strips cos it feels like wood (you have to feel it to believe), scratch proof (a bit doubtful about that claim) and wouldnt be dented easily even when my kids drop their monster truck (repeatedly). We are using the one at the bottom, marked with an x. The image on the left is how it is going to look like after laying on the floor
  10. Its violin, my dear. On second thought, might hire samgalz instead....i'm sure she will be resourceful enough to find that mouthpiece.
  11. Hi leechaorui, This is gonna be a long post. Pl get ready your coffee. My IDWET (Id with excellent taste) chose all the tiles for us. First we are aesthetically challenged, second we get overwhelmed easily, we are not brave enough to face the plethora of tiles begging us to choose them. I might not be the best person to answer the question why we chose a certain tile (IDWET knows best) but will try my best. Living Room Floor tile : 600 x 600cm cement look alike tile ( i wanted cement screed floor but hubby thinks its too raw, this is a good compromise) Feature wall : exposed brick wall painted white (to have more texture than plain white walls) Ceiling : Dark brown (no budget to install timber rafters which was the original plan) At Main Door Way and side patio, cement slab with loose pebble stones (have always like pebble stones walkway, we had the same thing in our previous house) Chengai wood stained to a darker brown for patio, platform in living room, powder room shower area, build in dining bench, build in bench (secret storage compartment) in Master bedroom and outdoor platform deck at the back of the house. (Using lots of wood to suit our modern resort theme) To be continued....
  12. My ID chose for us. We didnt even go look see. Here's the address she gave me : Surface, 15 defu ave 1, tel 63835001. Heard Surface and Hafary are sister company. Yes it is 30 x 60cm.
  13. I think the other branches have sale too but Centrepoint would have a better deal from what i see in the brochure.
  14. My kids dont create music they only create noise. Actually the music/band room is for hubby and me to relive our depraved "youthhood". Call it Mid Life Crisis, my middle aged husband is seriously thinking of setting up a band with him as lead singer and the kids playing drums, keyboard and guitar (we have also found our trianglist recently). Pl PM me if anyone has any lobang to recruit The Short Giraffe Band. TIA
  15. Wouldnt even dare to compete, I'm just the disciple trying to copycat Samjie lah. She is in a league many levels up. If there is a RT Trivia Pursuit, she will win hands down. Sample question : How many forummers bought Stella rugs from Jackson? She can give you the answer in less than 2 seconds. That's how champion she is. I am not worthy...
  16. Just the person I'm looking for, we have an opening for a trianglist. My 2 yr old refused to play the triangle, he prefers Violin. Nigel Kennedy in the making
  17. You are one BIG open book bro, everybody knows you well. haha
  18. Chance upon a wooden dining table from iwannagohome at Tanglin Mall. I think the price is $1699.
  19. ......where music dwells This will be the noisiest corner of the house. Cant decide whether to call it our Music Room or Band Room or simply The Stage. There will be an acoustic drum set, keyboard and electric guitar plus mixer, speakers and amplifier. On the left is a mini store room and on the right will be storage shelves behind curtains. We want to sound proof this room so there will be carpet on the floor, thick curtains all around, rock wool in the false ceiling and door panel. To further minimize the noise, we have decided to install more rock wool and sound board at the wall shared by our neighbour. Rock wool Wall with rock wool Wall with rock wool and sound board (notice the pelmet for curtains?)
  20. Hi all, Aussino Centrepoint moving out sale - all items under $40 till 1 Aug. For details pl see the link Aussino Sale. ....oops i got infected with the samgalzness too. hee hee
  21. Hey, you are too modest. Can only afford Hansgro-she when we were your age. 4m enough to wrap the whole family, we are a family of dwarfs. Please do. Pass it on. Looks like Samgalz's resourcefulness and "spread the love around"ness have rubbed off on you.
  22. Am Sleeping on 300 thread count currently and not complaining. However, heard friends waxing lyrical about luxurious Egyptian cotton bedsheets. So the princess wannabe in me persuaded my frog prince to gather his horses and chariot to Tomato town to procure some supposedly fine cotton sheets. We were given two sample pillows. One with brand new, waxed (easier to pack) and unwashed 1k thread count pillow case and the other 1k thread count pillow case that has gone through the cleaning process. My frog prince wouldnt let go of the latter. He only relented reluctantly when a rival prince looked like he was about to start a pillow fight. The verdict : - Looks like 5 star hotel stuff, feels like 5 star hotel stuff and sleep like 5 star hotel stuff. We were sold. Have not use it yet but will let you know once we have it test driven.
  23. Sodesne, arigato gozaimas for the enlightenment. Thought it was a beer, pl pardon my ignorance. Btw, how do you say monkeys in Japanese?
