  1. Apologies sforshor... but I did not receive the pm... mind sendingo me the led downlight distributor contact again? Thanks!
  2. Hi sforshor, can pm me the led downlight distributor contact? Thanks!
  3. Hi Sforshor Can PM me the contact you bought your Downlights from? Thanks in advance!
  4. If u're referring to those wireless kind, be mindful that cheap ones shares the same frequencies... How do I know? Coz I got a cheap one & it goes off by itself sometimes.. (Really scary when it's night time!) I stay in a HDB point block & hence the units are pretty near each other... I then found out from an electrician friend that cheap ones bought off-shelf from those NTUC, etc usually has the same frequencies... Hence, when ur neighbor (if happen to use the same brand) press his door bell, urs will go off too! He advise either hard-wire kind or buy a higher price one...
  5. That's what I thought so too... the lower price for small electronic shops is due to low overhead owing to no display + small crew.... I think the salespeople at the bigger shops are probably taught to respond w "export items" if they see customers yearning towards such small shops... Juz thought I ask people here t share if they hv ever encountered issues of "export items" or hv problem registering them w the respective product agents when bought from such smaller shops...
  6. Was at one of the "Big Boys" electronic shops checking out stuff & got into a friendly chat w one of the salesperson... So I propped the "taboo" question of why many people will end up going to small electronic shops (E.g. P***k, E*****t, G** A** B**....) over the "big boys" (E.g. B**t D***, H*** N****, etc...) and is there a "catch" to it? He told me that small electronic shops are able to sell at a cheaper price because they sell "export sets"... meaning if something goes wrong w the stuff u bought, the warranty will not be honoured by the service centres in Singapore... I told him I thought small electronic shops are able to keep price down because they keep their operation small (E.g. 2 or 3 staff, no displays, etc)... but he was very firm in his answer that it's export items and warned me not to buy from such small electronic shops... Asked another staff & he told me the same story... I'm not starting a flaming war of which is better... but juz wanna know the truth... esp from those who hv bought fm such small electronic shops & found out their stuff are export sets or face problems when they can't get their faulty items being serviced in Singapore... Is it so?
  7. but did you, the owner have to end up having to pay for the work at the neighbour place? My only worry is it can't be resolved between contractor and neighbour esp when neighbour start to ask for ridiculous stuff from the contractoe (for this instance, he wanted whole house ceiling to be done up).... In this case, do we revert back to HDB if things go out of hand?
  8. Yup.... My contractor says he will handle everything... told me not to worry... Good on him... but I'm juz stunned at how my neighbour can leverage on a situation and ask for a whole chicken when offered a drumstick.... Want to do the whole house ceiling... whole house?!? That was really ridiculous.... Will update u guys again on what happen... Now my contractor is going to his place to survey the condition & negotiate....
  9. Patch up affected area... I can understand lah.... but I think to hack away whole house ceiling + re-cementing + plastering + repaint whole house ceiling is a bit trying luck too far.... Dun u agree? Sigh....
  10. Need advice... My home started renovation and hacking began this week. For records, it's an old flat in an old estate of 30 years or more... We already did the necessary of informing & apologising ahead to our neighbors for any inconvenience caused. The neighbor downstair can even "smile smile" and say dun worry about it cause they "understand"... Guess what? 1st day of reno during hacking already pattern all come out... They called my contractor/ID and demand for repair of spalliing ceiling claiming my "hacking" work damage their ceiling... even called HDB to complain... but in front of me, they smile smile... Think they expect "free works" from my contractor.... My main contractor out of good will offered to patch up & paint ONLY the affected area but neighbour demanded for full ceiling hacking + cementing + plastering + repainting the whole house's ceiling.... It's obvious they are taking our reno an opportunity to "carrot chop" us or our contractor... I've spoken to HDB for advice but they stay clear of it unless it is really unresolvable... HDB only "hinted" & mentioned that spalling ceiling is expected in old estate and my hacking of tiles shouldn't be the main cause of it... However, out of good will, we can have our contractor "touch up" the affected area juz to please our neighbour... HDB again emphasied "only affected area"... In this case, I want to ask what's my obligation to the neighbour? Do I have a good case to fight?
  11. I think a picture says a thousand words (pardon the lousy drawing... ). My place is those 5-room point block type... It does not have a storeroom but there's an enclave next to where the dining area is. My plan is to convert that area to a store & make it accessible via aluminum sliding doors (See blue line)... A portion of it on the right will be walled up (thick yellow lines) to put the fridge (accessible on the kitchen side)... With the fridge there, I'm not sure if partition board will suffice or should I use hollow block (for the yellow wall part).... Any advice?
  12. My reno will only start in 2 weeks time. As per design, there will be a false wall built up using hollow block & that's where the fridge is going to be. but I'm thinking of cutting back reno cost & use partition board instead... will it be a problem if the fridge's back is placed against a partition board wall?
  13. Is it advisable to put a fridge with its back against a false wall? Any problem w heat ventilation? fire hazard? Thanks...
  14. My current decor is resort look w lots of teak & dark brown furnishing. As I'm moving house soon, I'm planning for a brand new look... I've always like Scandinavian design for their simplistic look... Decide to opt for a lighter shade and opt for white / birch coloured furnishing... My questions as follows: 1) I found out there's now exotic hard wood flooring like oak, birch & maple wood available... Are they practical for our kind of climate? Any problems so far for those who use these sort of flooring? Of the three choices (which are light blonde shades), which is the best choice for our type of climate? Other recommendation? 2) I know IKEA is the default place for Scandinavian furnishing but i dun like MDC, fibreboard, etc... As for their solid wood, IKEA only used pinewood... Which other places can I go for Scandinavian furnishing esp those using solid birch type? Thanks!
