Colors of my house The painting for my house was completed yesterday less some touch ups, which my contractor agrees to "give us one painter to do whatever we want to him" this coming Sat. I dont know if it is common to use different colors for different rooms and different section of the house, somehow I think the house looks alittle colorful. Nevertheless, i kind of like the results of the chosen colors Sungod and white for MBR Dark Grey (columns and beams) and white for the CBR Dark Brown for Walkway outside bedrooms (for hanging of painting) Light brown for wall behind TV Console

Actually, I am most satisfied with the master toilet reno thus far. My project manager gave very good advise on tile selection as well as the matching acessories. In fact, Yen also advise me that the bulk of the tiling cost is not on the tile purchase, but on the workers. He did a calculation on how much I have to top up if I "upgrade" my tiles. The amount was reasonable, thats why we got it. In fact, we upgraded most of our tiles, and the final cost is an extra $600 (not firm yet, guesstimate).

The HG shower sets, taps cost me a bomb and a lot of convincing (my wife) that they are worth it. So I have very high hopes for them... Hope they wont let me down. Else, I will not have excuse to buy them again if I move to another house..

Plumbering Works Completed on 22 Oct The plumbering works are finally completed. All my bowls, basins and accessories (less the common toilet mirror) have been installed. I was there the whole morning to witness the installation process of my beautiful bowls, basins and taps..... Hahahahahaha..... I really love my master toilet, feels like a condo... Sooo happy. However, there are 2 x blemishes. (1) The door for the storage wash basin in not installed properly in the factory. So the door cant close properly. (2) Bought a shower bar set from Poh Joo, but the holder is very loose, no matter how much I tighten, it can seem to take the weight of the handset (This one I think need to bring back to Poh joo to change). I have chosen Nippon's SUNGOD color for one side of my bedroom wall. Photo below taken earlier. Very bright, I like.... I think will go well with black color bedframe and side tables. To see more of my pictures, you can go to : http://www.flickr.com/photos/53912514@N06/

Busy Week It has been a busy week for me, in terms of work. Only after work am I able to go to the house. By the time I get to the house, the sky is almost dark and the workers are about to leave. Anyway, a quick update. Over the last week till today, the contractor has completed majority of the electrical works (less the light fittings), running of water pipe (less the toilet bowls and the wash basin, cause my contractors dont want the workers to use), installed air con (done by Gain City), mounted the false ceiling, replaced uneven/cracked tiles and started with painting. Below are the pictures. I am happy and excited now. Happy because most of the work are done accordingly and as scheduled, while excited because the house is almost completed . Tomorrow will be installation of the toilet bowls and basins as well as painting. By next Monday, the light fittings will be completed. And by the end of next week, I think the carpentry works will be completed........... HOOOORAYYYY..... Aircon in MBR Aircon in Living Rm False ceiling, with Cove Light in Living Rm Storage tank heater in common bath nicely placed Unfinished kitchen pipe box-up

Heehee.... thanks for the advise again. Actually, we thought of mounting on the wall, but then after seeing the nice wall, we cant bear to drill too many holes on it (I know it sounds silly). So we chose not to wall mount. My contractor did mention about the gypsum board, then again, we are worried that over time, the paint between the gypsum wall and the concrete wall will crack. And feature wall is expensive. Haizz.... so choose to place the TV and the sound system on the tv console instead. Sometimes, I think I worry too much... hahahaha....

Hi manutd1972, thank you for the solid advise. In fact, i really love the samsung or philips soundbar. But due to cost we never build feature wall.so have to buy the normal hts. N since we have to buy the normal hts so have to decide between budget, quality of sound, design n most importantly something less complicated in terms of wiring (coz hav to clear the place ).

Since i was only on half day leave yesterday, i went to the house to check on the aircon installation done yesterday. Haizz.... The bad thing about hdb, everything cannot conceal. So many chunky pipes running around the mbr n common br. No choice lar... Hdb dweller, have to accept these limitations. Today nv bring camera. Tomr will go back to take photo.

Mystery "Oil" Stain solved Haha.... Finally after weeks of brain cracking, investigator edward finally sovled the mystery "oil" stain problem. Now my wife no need worried about them The aircon man came over to my house this morning. I was there to discuss with them the way to run the air con trunkings. Afterwhich, I went out to tabao drinks for the aircon man (must be nice to them, then they do nice nice... hehe...). When I came back, I found my old aircon lying at one corner of the living room, and on the floor, I discovered the same "oil" stains. So curiously, I asked the aircon man what is that on the floor. He replied," its the fluid from the old aircon pipes." Then I flashed my "oil" stain photo from my samsung galaxy s and asked if it is possible for the oil to stain the ceiling when the old air con trunking is removed. He replied yes and went on to explain that when the pipe is cut, the pressure in the pipe forces the fluid out, so the fluid splashed onto the ceiling. Viola, and there goes the curious case of the "oil" stains.

Huh?? this set got centre speakers?? Rosman only told me about 4 (speakers) + 1 (sub-woofer) + 1 (amp). He never tell me about the centre speakers leh. Is it because they give only 4 speakers thats why it is cheaper?
-
After looking at all the discussion with regard to sound systems. I decided to check out some sound systems from courts (AMK). While looking at the sound systems, I found this entry level ONKYO HT-S330 selling @ $959. It comes with 4 speakers, 1 sub-woofer and 1 amp. The salesman, I think is Rosman, seem to know a lot about sound systems, highly recommended this set. See picture below. I thought for the price and the brand (pardon me, dont know how to see the specification :S), this set seem quite reasonable. Any bros or sis able to advise?

Waaa... dexufto, you are power leh. I never mention the name of the company, yet you know.. You must have loads of info. I dont know about their quality yet, however with your advise, I will take note. Also on a serious note, just to share with everyone, I really do think that their gate is really cheap. Their cheapest is the $188 wrought iron gate, only 1 design, 1 color (cnnot choose). But if you want to choose from 24 design and various colors, the gate is only $250. Which after asking around, is still the cheapest. However, like dexufto warned, you pay peanuts, be prepared to to get monkeys So i think i better spray more lacquer over the paint or get my painter to help paint another layer over the gate.

Disappointing monday Took leave today because the plumber was supposed to start work today. I have many questions to ask him with regard to the installation of the storage-type heater tank and the running of the hot-water pipes because I intend to invest on the Hansgrohe basin and shower taps. The consideration is, if the plumber tells me that he cant install the storage-type tank, then I can return the tank to Poh Joo and exchange for 2 x instant heaters and the cold water taps. But if I buy the Hansgrohe taps (before the plumber confirms that he can install and run hot water pipes in my 3 rm), and if the plumber tells me he cant install the tank, chances are I cant exchange for anything from Hansgrohe since they dont produce cold water taps (= money down the drain). So, happily I woke up at 8am, make my way to the house by 9am. 15mins after I reached, got a call from Yen. He told me the plumber reported sick, ATTEND C, for dont know how many days. Faint. Anyhow, I was informed that the plumber can only come over on Wed. So no choice, I have to buy all the taps today (since cannot take leave on Wed) and pray for the best, though Yen told me "no problem". On a brighter side, today went over to the wrought iron gate show room at AMK industrial park intro by Yen. To my surprise, they are selling this budget and decent looking wrought iron gate (only 1 design and 1 color, cannot choose, take it or leave it type) at only $188net. Faint again. Cheapest found so far. Fast leg, fast hand, tell the sales lady to register my purchase (before they change their mind about the price).... hahahahahaha......

Hi Vicenzo70, thank you for the advise. With so many people warning me on BOSE, I guess I better think twice I think I will make a trip down to Adelphi to see what are the options available, but if the $$$ is way beyond my budget, maybe I will go for a household brand for the time being. Maybe philips HTS7200/98, looks pretty nice. http://www.philips.com.sg/c/home-theater-s...hts7200_98/prd/
