  1. I'm using SAMSUNG WD8804. Just bought for a couple of weeks. Can't tell reliability as mentioned in the other thread... http://www.renotalk.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=32485 I'm using close to SGD1000 to try out a Korean brand WASHER + DRYER. Like you I have shortlisted to Bosch, LG and SAMSUNG. Finally bought the SAMSUNG as Bosch cost about SGD1500 for the WASHER alone. Can't really tell reliability as I only use for a few weeks. You may wish to visit more USA and Europe sites to check on these products. FYI USA WASHERS are larger ones while Europe has about same models. LG uses DC controlled AC motor while SAMSUNG uses AC. Both LG and SAMSUNG use brushless motors. I believe that is why they could provide 10 years warranty for their motors. Please verify with them. Bosch LogiXX8 also use AC Brushless... http://il.youtube.com/watch?v=cDm72H8ZpGc Please compare the features from the catalog. Based on the telephone calls that I made to both LG and SAMSUNG, I find that both companies in Singapore do not know their products well. However, SAMSUNG could provide me with answers quicker. Thus, I believe their customer service could be superior... I might be wrong. Good luck!
  2. wow. price is S$70 lower than what I got from Audio House!!! Same here. I didn't make a trip down to check. If this unit from Mustafa is exactly the same, then I would say it is really a good buy.
  3. Any LOW SUDS powder will do la... SPIN is a local Singapore brand... http://www.uiccp.com/company.html I do not think Brandt recommended only SPIN. Just pick fragrance that you like most.
  4. Very stable final spin. $20 not an issue else I would not have bought it. Just feel cheated.
  5. Huh? You mean you bought the SAMSUNG WD8804? How much did you pay? Where did you buy from? So fast delivered? What about your Brandt? You managed to exchange Brandt for SAMSUNG? What do you define as good? I did not expect you and your husband to buy it and so fast. Like I said in my earlier post. I am NOT recommending anyone to buy SAMSUNG. I have just purchased mine. So I can't tell much about reliability. Although I have done my homework comparing various washers and narrowed down to Bosch WAS32791ME (WASHER ONLY), LG WD1484ADP (WASHER + DRYER) and SAMSUNG WD8804CJA (WASHER + DRYER). I put my money on the WD8804 because of its PRICE, DIRECT DRIVE, SILVER WASH, AIR WASH and DRYER features. I like the LG WD1484ADP Favorite feature but it does not have SILVER WASH and AIR WASH. And no CERAMIC heater. I only use the DRYER when humidity is extremely high. So, a washer + dryer suits my needs. Using heater (for washing or drying) all the time will increase energy bills. I need time to tell how reliable this machine WD8804 is. I do not know kong tai nor goh ah bee.
  6. Made in Korea. Brandt is a good brand. You should get them fix your problem. Korean washers are only starting to gain market share. I am using $949 to see if Korean made washers are reliable. I believe most models of Japanese and Korean brands are China or Indonesia or Thailand made now. Good luck!
  7. Looks like you have got a better deal than me. I bought mine from AH Liang Court. Went there as someone here posted that they are selling at $899 + $30 delivery = $929. They increased the price to $949. As I have been looking around for quite a while, I finally bought it even though it is $20 more. Very happy with the noise level. Very happy with the water consumption. Yet to try dry wash and dryer. These days are sunny...
  8. I agree with new_home_maker. If your Brandt is exceptionally abnormally noisy, then your should file an official complaint to the company that you bought the product. Simultaneously, you should also write, email and telephone Brandt Singapore and email Brandt HQ if Singapore Brandt does not follow up. Document everything to prove that you have informed the respective parties. You need to do this immediately. I do not know when you purchase and took delivery. If it is already more than 1 week, it would be difficult... I am NOT recommending you to buy a SAMSUNG. You should settle your Brandt noise problem and/or change to what you and your husband originally decide on - BOSCH. Go to Brandt Singapore and check if their machines are as noisy as yours. If their demo machines are quiet, then your unit must be defective and get Brandt Singapore to replace as it is still brand new. If their machines are as noisy, then you might wish to go to HN and see what you can settle with. In case you are not aware... only the BOSCH Logixx8 has Brushless Motor that is quiet, but still belt driven... Watch this... As for me, I purchased a SAMSUNG WASHER + DRYER WD8804. Direct Drive. Very Quiet in my opinion - please check and verify yourself. Here is a clip from youtube... Please note that the youtube video is showing a WF8804 machine is a WASHER without DRYER. I paid S$949 for the white model. Bought from Audio House. There is a thread here in RENOTALK on WD8804. Go check it out if you are interested. Chose SAMSUNG instead of BOSCH as the BOSCH WAS32794 cost more than $1500. This machine is WASHER only - without DRYER. Never believe a salesman as they have their own agenda. Do your homework as it is your money that you are going to part with. Best is to have live demo. If not, try to find them on the internet.
  9. I do not know which model of Brandt you bought. Just to let you know... all Washers specify their largest capacity. For shorter program cycles, washers will have smaller capacity. This is same for Bosch. You can download Bosch user manual here to take a look at their machine maximum capacity for different program...http://www.bosch-home.com/sg/singapore-products/washing-and-drying/washing-machines/front-load-washers/WAS32791ME.html?source=browse Go to the "additional documents" tab. you will be able to download the user manual from there. For me, I studied these online manuals before making my decision. Originally wanted to buy a Bosch. Finally settled for a SAMSUNG WASHER + DRYER. Good luck and hope you'll find the Bosch user manual useful. Compare these capacities with your Brandt washer. As for the noise, I will NOT be able to help you.
  10. I think $929 is quite a reasonable. I paid $20 more at AH. They revised their price. Was at $899 + $30 = $929. Did not pay for the silver one as it cost about $100 more. Do not think it is worth it as it is not stainless steel. Just color of paint.
  11. you can get your answers here... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/LED-backlit_LCD_television
  12. darth vader and ne0mesis are correct. AIR WASH is stated as 2 items or less which is less than 1 kg load. Sorry for having NOT highlighted this earlier. Oh, by the way, DRYER CAPACITY also varies. Check the user manual. 5 kg is the maximum that SAMSUNG specified... see page 26 user manual. Similarly, the WASH CAPACITY also varies depending on the Fabric Type (8 kg is the max.) ... see page 28 user manual. Checked the internet and downloaded the WD8804 user manual to look at the actual features and study the details before making my decision. Thinking aloud... 1. How often do I need DRY WASH? My answer: occasionally. 2. How much load do I need at one go? My answer: Jacket only. Based on the above, 1kg AIR WASH for me is NOT an issue for me. And this machine saves me the hassle of going to the laundry shop (send and collect). Saves me $$$ as I do not pay for DRY WASH. Most important is that I save me time. Also, any last minute refreshing of laundry could be done right in my home in just 29 minutes using [Deodorization] program which, in my opinion, is definitely a plus point. [sanitization requires 59 minutes]... see page 25 user manual. You can get the SAMSUNG WD8804 user manual here... http://www.samsung.com/sg/consumer/home-ap...amp;tab=support You can get the LG WD1484 user manual here... http://www.lg.com/sg/home-appliance/laundr...-WD-1484ADP.jsp Like I mentioned in my earlier post, I like the LG FAVORITE button feature. I chose SAMSUNG because of other reasons that I mentioned. Unfortunately, I did not have this feature in my SAMSUNG. Having said that, I did not regret buying SAMSUNG as I have made my decision based on all the known facts. The only concern I have now is the RELIABILITY of my SAMSUNG. I still have my old top load washer which I will use to wash curtains. My old machine is a SANYO with ULTRASONIC. It lasted more than 10 years and is still doing good. Bought a front load because of water saving feature, lower electrical consumption (using COLD wash). I will not be able to tell you its reliability now as I only took delivery last Saturday. The only thing I could say is that it is very quiet and very stable even in spin.
  13. I've been shopping around for a WASHER + DRYER for quite while. Finally short listed SAMSUNG WD8804 and LG WD1484. Eventually bought SAMSUNG WD8804. Here are some comparison I got from SAMSUNG and LG web site... 1. DIRECT DRIVE for both SAMSUNG and LG. 2. AIR WASH for SAMSUNG. 3. SILVER WASH for SAMSUNG. 4. CERAMIC HEATER for SAMSUNG. 5. ENERGY EFFICIENCY SAMSUNG is B while LG is A+. This rating is done at 60 degrees C water. So if we wash COLD, the rating for SAMSUNG should read better. Check... a. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/European_Union_energy_label b. http://www.washerhelp.co.uk/topics/eco-energy-labels.html 6. WATER CONSUMPTION for both SAMSUNG and LG: 7 litres per kg of laundry. 7. WASH CAPACITY for both SAMSUNG and LG: 8 kg. 8. DRYER CAPACITY for SAMSUNG is 5 kg while LG is 4 kg. There is one cool key feature that LG has that SAMSUNG does not - FAVORITE. I believe this button is for user to program the user preferred WASH, RINSE, SPIN and dry cycle. Choose SAMSUNG if you need AIR WASH (waterless or dry wash), LG WD1484 does not have this feature. In my opinion, both machines have their pros and cons. I decided on SAMSUNG because 1. Lower COST, 2. AIR WASH, 3. SILVER WASH, 4. CERAMIC HEATER, 5. DRYER CAPACITY 5kg. As I have just purchased the WASHER + DRYER, I would not be able to tell you its reliability.
