  1. My little one is starting to climb onto any structure he can get his little hand one... need to install window grilles which we have put off for quite some time. I saw some thin window grilles (thinner than most aluminum ones frequently seen around the suburbs) previously from some other units I passed by, not sure where I can get them from? Thanks!
  2. that is true but based on my air level physics and discovery channel level of science, my impression is that it is easier to control electricity and pressure with modern day technology than to control how a chemical reaction (burning process) occurs in an uncontrolled environment since it needs oxygen in the environment to burn. Anyway, which ever technology is choosen, there are pros and cons, it's just a matter of how much you weigh in on each factor. I'll leave my cold shower days right back during my 2.5yrs of NSF life ....thank you very much
  3. it's not really unfounded, or else why would the citygas sales person say that the unit must be installed outdoor or in unenclosed area like the yard? Reason is simply no one can guarantee that leakage will never occur at the joints which are mechanical weak points in the structure as well as the risk of carbon monoxide poisoning from the burning of fuel in enclosed environment.
  4. that's for units that misses the 1st round of free installation? not for areas that OpenNet have not reached yet right?
  5. My kitchen cabinet's handle-less doors need to use such mechanism to operate... Here's a diagram on how it's installed and used: Essentially, when you close the door softly, the magnetic portion will attract the metal plate installed on the door itself. Then you will have to press in to latch it close (1 click sound). When you want to open the door, you press on the door panel and it will unlatch (another click sound) and the spring inside the mechanism will push the door out so that it creates a gap for u to get a grip on the edge of the door to pull it open. My ID calls them "Tic-Tac" doors....i guess it comes from the sound these doors make during operation. The ones supplied by my ID...very similar in structure but in white: The problem is that the ones supplied seem quite flimsy and the feel of the mechanism in operation (ie. the latch and unlatching portion) is iffy....i failed to open the door in 1 smooth action 1/2 the time i tried.... Is there any better brands or models out there that someone can recommend? It need to handle very tall cabinet doors ~2.8m height... Thanks!
  6. sorry to bother u again, but do you have the height of your cabinet with the laminate joints? if u have a picture of the jointline it will be even better as i can compare the workmanship of the carpenter. Thanks!
  7. Oh...so yours is similar situation as mine...i initially thought it was a scratch.....had a big conference with my ID and carpenter..... in the end my ID said she will source for a customized 1 piece laminate that can go beyond 8 feet?...i'm not sure if there is such a laminate..we shall see.... The issue here is that the ID did not forewarn us that there will be a jointline due to standard maximum runs of laminate. If we have been told, at least we can decide if we can live with the jointline or chose a different cabinet design to avoid the jointline.
  8. I'm not too sure....cos my cabinet is about 3m....which is considered higher than the usual ceiling height.
  9. Hi! I love your white kitchen cabinetry. I am doing something similar for my reno but have come up against a problem during the reno. My ID and carpenter claimed that the my full height cabinet is too long for the standard white laminate length...thus there is a need to join 2 pieces of laminate which i find unacceptable. My qn which i hope u can help with is that what is your height of ur cabinet? Is your laminate in 1 piece or joined? Do you have a picture showing a full view of the longest continuous height of the white cabinet? And what brand and model is the laminate used? Thanks!!
  10. 2486 sqft??!!!! That is a huge space!
  11. where is this mounted? how does it work? Is it activated automatically or need to switch on manually each time?
  12. Well i think most people will agree with your statement but the problem in Singapore is that even if you are willing to pay, you may not have things done on time or nicely..... So it all boils down to luck that you get the right ID to do the job...
  13. vs the first one seem that little bit sleeker in design.... but where to buy?
  14. Thanks! good info! I called Contat, but the lady said they only carry a brand call "King" or something like that...cost about $35 cash and carry Asked about Dorma brand, they said they no longer carry them.... I like what I see for the Dorma design...sleeker
  15. does it hold open the door? is it soft closing? how much is it? thanks!
  16. Any idea where i can get it? The Dorma company located in Gul....also not sure if they sell retail. rough gauge on the cost?
  17. Hi! Since I am changing to digital lock and refurbishing my fire-rated main door, I'm intending to replace my 13yr old door closer to a new one with hold open function (hate the magnetic holder). Are they all the same regardless of brands? I am looking for one with: 1) smooth closing action 2) anti-slam 3) hold open function Please recommend me some brands and where i can get them? Thanks!
  18. very interesting idea! Did you get the top bed platform custom built by your contractor? The stairway is coming up? Can platform withstand the stress by the stolman system's poles?
  19. oh yah, and where did you get your furniture sliders? how much? Thnx!
  20. how did you manage to shift your TV and electrical points to the opposite side of the room?
  21. Please refer to my previous post for your answer: Problem with multi point heater Storage vs instant heater (including multi-point type) for rain shower
  22. any further review? I still have time to change my order if there is anything bad about this unit....
  23. oopss...just realized that your is a DBSS. Very condo-like especially with all the planters and baywindows. your 3Ds are pretty nice..which ID firm are you using?
  24. congrats on your home purchase! since yours is a condo and most likely the reno will be minimum, buying your furniture first is quite alright especially if you have the detailed floor plan with exact dimensions. Electronics wise, it seem a little early to purchase them especially for the big ticket items as technology moves very fast these days and in half a year...there will be usually newer models with better functions at just a little bit more $. I understand the "kanchiongness" in waiting for your new place to be ready....and the urge to buy since all you can do now is wait.... I can suggest you list down the items you are on verge of buying and keep update this list as you go along....1 month before you move in then swop down to places like everjoint, goh ah bee, parisilk......buying everything together gets you better discounts too.
