  1. force us to change!!?? and they're gg to make us co-pay for it!!?? so typical of their kind of logic.
  2. looking at the current design and layout, dun think can fit a MSCP in the space of the current open carpark. the MSCP will be way too close to the 2 blocks bordering the open carpark now. those living in the lower-floor units will literally be able to touch the exterior walls of the MSCP using their bamboo poles. survey, no. but brochures have. it's that brochure that i just mentioned lor. where they showed the various upgrading that has been done and is currently doing in this estate lor. but dun think i saw any carpark conversion. decision is not directly under town council i think. i think HDB/URA will decide where to build and once constructed, town council will take over and manage it.
  3. u all received the 5-yr Master Plan brochure in ur letterbox? nw I **** scared my block sooner or later will kenna HIP, Home Improvement Program. Cos they say blocks built in 1986 and before will be slated for HIP sooner or later. My block was built in 1983, i think. tt means they'll upgrade my toilets, main door and main gate. I dun wan!!! just newly-renovated, my toilets are in a better shape and design than wat they pictured in the letter. i dun have a main gate, and i use a biometric digital lock for my main door! are they gg to uninstall and re-install the lock for me in the new door? dun think so lor. and are they also gg to install a new gate whether i hv a gate now or not? I dun want a gate lor. unless they give me a single-leaf, wrought iron gate.
  4. yes, Holland-Bukit Panjang Town Council's S&CC is lower than Jurong Town Council's. I used to stay in Commonwealth under HBP TC and was paying $36.50 per month. Now in Jurong TC, i pay $39.50 per month. Extra $3. But my carpark is cheaper here, though no shelter as it's open carpark. I'd rather have MSCP like i used to have at Commonwealth. And I only paid $75 for MSCP there cos my carpark group included an open-air carpark. So they charged us less than regular MSCP charges.
  5. which part of jurong west? ave 1 area? or jurong west extension area?
  6. fear of contamination from exposure to radiation rain? wat abt the radiation that you eat? from the microwave oven. if u use a microwave oven, u hv radiation right in ur home. dun even talk about sth that's 5000km away. if it's meant to be, it's meant to be. even if one were to stay at home and completely still so one does not knock into anything that might hurt one, u'll still die frm long periods of inactive and poor blood circulation due to either standing in one position for too long, or sitting down for too long, causing blood flow to be severely restricted. if one is constantly living in fear, where is the joy of living?
  7. actually i tried that ba kut teh at St 31 last week. IMHO, nothing fantastic. and i find it expensive. $4.50 for only 2.5 pieces of ba kut. wonder if the taste is any different when comparing eating there versus buying back. although, i must say, i'm so near the market, the taste shld not be adversely affected, if at all affected. talking abt food, anyone knows any fish soup stall here adds thin bittergourd slices into their soup?
  8. woo-hoo healthier hawker food is coming our way!!! first hawker centre in singapore to introduce healthier hawker food. http://www.channelnewsasia.com/stories/sin...1115626/1/.html SINGAPORE : Health-conscious hawker food lovers can look forward to Singapore's first 'healthy' hawker centre next month. The Health Promotion Board (HPB) and South West Community Development Council are working to get half of the hawkers at Yuhua Market and Hawker Centre in Jurong East (Block 347) to offer healthier food alternatives. Hawkers MediaCorp spoke to at Yuhua welcomed the move, saying they have already noticed more customers asking for healthier food. And despite the expected increase in costs and labour, they would not be raising prices as they feel the healthier food would draw in more business. HPB said the initiative is aimed at reducing nationwide obesity. Ang Hak Seng, chief executive officer of HPB, said: "Obesity has been on the increase by 1 per cent each year for the last three years...The reason why there is an increase in obesity is because Singaporeans are eating out more often but they are exercising less. "To combat obesity...we are adopting a bottom-up approach by mobilising grassroots organisations, VWOs (voluntary welfare organisations), and private companies to create a social movement in healthy lifestyle." - CNA/ms Hope it takes off....
  9. which parts flooded? i was in the library throughout the downpour. lucky i got in before the rain started. phew.... JE mrt got new platform? eh....for wat ah? got another new line coming up?
  10. haha...i'm sure nobody will notice. so long as ur bedframe is dark brown, wooden colour. mine is.
  11. i'm using this bedside table too! 2 of them, one on each side of my bed. although colour is not exactly the same as my bed frame, everyone who saw it couldn't tell that it was not part of a package. together with my laminate flooring, bed frame, wardrobe and bedroom door, they look like a bedroom set....haha...
  12. if the panels are wider than the 2 central drawers, and shorter than the height of the bedroom door, after mounting, the panels would den transform that big wall into a feature wall. i think it would look quite nice. but if tall and narrow, den difficult to make the wall look like a feature wall liao.
  13. El Bano got Hansgrohe. Call Annie and ask her for pricing before going down la.
  14. tt's my bus-stop! directly below my block....haha. so 333 goes into St 32, that's why one stop more than 502. ytd take bus after so many years. sent my car for minor improvement works, and decided to try bus instead of always taking cab. wah...saved a ton of money!! took 198 frm Queensway to home and then again frm Hm to Bt Merah. $1.41 per trip, equals $2.82 for both. imagine if i take cab for both....i think at least $10-$12 per trip ah. saved about $20
  15. recently i tried the hokkien mee at Blk 155 Bt Batok mentioned by someone here. quite nice. more bee hoon than yellow mee. and a bit wet, so tabao shld be quite ok. also tried the char kway teow next to it. i wld say it's average, compared to the Beach Road one. no veggie at all also, but overall taste still ok. considering we dun hv any of these 2 dishes here, they're the next best thing nearby.
  16. i once tried switching off the heater when i went to start my shower. but, alas, cos i take long showers, i found myself having to switch it back on again midway through my shower. even if heating stops, the heater will still draw a standby current simply by being turned on. see, gas so much cheaper than electricity. best to engage City Gas to run the piping. much much safer and hassle-free. heater can also buy frm their showroom at Somerset Road. Most popular brand is Rinnai. apparently tried and tested. i used Rinnai at my old plc but they've changed to a newer model nw oredi so can't comment. but old one never failed me at all during almost 8yrs.
  17. wei...speak for urself hor. i think i older than both of u. i still can play it regularly. and i try to play a few games each time, so long as it works out my whole body. precisely the reason why i bought Kinect instead of Wii. the recommended min height is 100cm, bt my fren's boy is shorter than that, and the sensor can still sense him. usually he stands about 1.8-2.2 metres away frm the sensor when he plays. and my sensor is mounted on top of my tv at a height of abt 1.4m.
  18. aiyoh, u got city gas ah? use gas heater liao lah!!!..... i was using gas heater at my previous place....so in love wif it...no limitations in terms of water temperature, electricity supply AND consumption. but yes, water pressure will be lower the higher the temperature selected. one solution is to use overhead rainshower. so even wif a drop in water pressure, u still will get a wide shower spray coming down. but in the long run, gas heater is so much better than anything tt uses electricity lor. ur PUB bills also will be so much lower. even if u take very long showers, like me. u imagine this....3kW storage heater, on for abt 8mins to heat up 25litres, den while u're showering, it's still on and consuming electricity, shower for 10-15mins (average. but for me, it's more like 20-30mins), before u finally switch it off. hw much wld tt hv cost u in terms of electricity bills oredi? compared wif gas? oh and dun forget. while soaping up, u may turn off the water, but the storage heater is still consuming electricity. but for gas heater, once u turn off the water, no more gas consumption. when u turn the water back on, den the flame ignites again and gas is consumed. so for gas heater, gas is consumed when u use water. so u pay for only wat u effectively use. but for electricity storage heater, so long as it is on, electricity is consumed whether water is used or not. so u pay even when u not using. not efficient way of using energy.
  19. dun be so sure wor....last time moving? later get married hw? ur future hubby move in wif u ah? scarly he gt his own apartment hw? condo unit somemore hw? or if he dun like ur reno hw?
  20. aiyoh....den my DB sar lah liao....and also confirm my deep fryer plug something wrong liao....tt day use it, caused the DB to trip. and none of my heavy power consumers were even on. huh? 20mins? so long? hw big is ur tank? 25litres also?
  21. in order to extract the most out of any product, the product shld be used for its intended purpose and within its design parameters. the Philips LivingColours Mini was intended to be used like a table lamp while the larger LivingColours was meant to be placed on the floor, to be used for mood lighting. used in a dark room, the larger LivingColours will adequately illuminate the whole bedroom when and if placed on the floor and directed at a smooth wall. the lighter the colour of the wall, the brighter will be the illumination of the room. ideal wall colour would be white so as to achieve the brightest illumination, and as well as the most accurate colour reproduction according to the colour chosen using the remote. a different coloured wall may interfere with the colour chosen and hence, the illuminated colour may be slightly off. the Mini however, was designed to act like a bedside table lamp. and hence, its brightness is not at a level that's high enough to be meant to illuminate a whole bedroom sufficiently to allow people in the room to see everything clearly. however, if one wants to use the Mini to illuminate a whole bedroom, then 1 trick is to place it on a high enough shelf and point it directly to the ceiling. by reflecting the light against the ceiling, the brightness of the Mini would appear higher and more of the bedroom would be illuminated, though it would still not be equivalent to that which is capable by the larger LivingColours. the Jellyfish, design-wise, appears to be in a shape that may be more of a talking point than the LivingColours would. but because the light is directed downwards, if the intention is to illuminate a whole bedroom, i would think a light-coloured, reflective floor would be needed. but until a user can give an objective evaluation or do a direct side-by-side comparison, we won't be able to say for sure which is brighter or better. indeed, even if one is brighter than the other, it is still very much down to an individual preference and choice.
  22. sis, u sure urs is 30Amp only? my DB is 40Amp leh. cannot be incoming is only 30A and my electrician somehow "steal" another 10Amp frm somewhere else wor. if only 30Amp, den usage is very limited wor. aircon oredi 15A, cooker hob 20A, plus other electrical appliances, how to use together? Joven also got 1.5kW models. in fact, the new rule now is manufacturer can only sell the 1.5kW models here. i heard this rule is not due to the Amp rating of individual homes, but rather issued by the authorities in an effort to go green and conserve electricity usage. if u ask me hor, i think this kind of "artificial usage reduction" is stupid. compare this: 3kW takes say, 5mins to heat up 15litres. 1.5kW takes 10mins to heat up the same 15litres. in terms of electricity consumed, aren't they both the same? the 2nd draws a lower current, but draws it for twice the amount of time. come back to square one mah. sometimes ah...these paper-pushers hor.....come up with policies without thorough thinking wan.
  23. for sanitary fittings, you can try this shop, El Bano at 486 Sims Ave, 6743 6656. Look for Annie, 9023 1967. Tell her Jason frm Jurong East referred u. Her service is good and honest. price is reasonable and comparable to most of the other cheap places mentioned here. and since price was abt the same, i chose her shop due to their service. after sales service was good also, as after i had placed my order for everything and paid almost 50%, they still entertained changes happily, and not like some other places who do it with a long face, or make comments like..."aiyah, why nvr check properly before ordering" etc.
