  1. Well, on to happier things: Got drink glasses in the shape I like RCR from Tangs - Ely
  2. Footprint, I don't know anymore. I'm soooo exhausted. I did ask the painter about the spots, and he told me that they would "go down in a while"... I just sent the pics to the ID and he's going to get them to come back tomorrow. They are not going to be pleased at all. No, these sub-cons are from Ideal House (as I signed with him when he was still there). The ID is really very nice, he scolded the plaster guy smoking in my kitchen and threatened to fine him $100 (seriously, no one listens to me at the place) then screamed at the painters for not being there at 12pm (yeah, turning up at 430pm...). I think the "nice" has expired. Being very private, I felt quite uncomfortable having strangers go through my fridge. To think I even offered to turn on air con for them so they can work in comfort! GAH! Dragon Lady, here I come! Why I so suay? It's already Day 93!! /cry I think must consult Sis Mae for my perpetual bad luck~ - Ely
  3. It only takes ONE special animal to get you hook, line and sinker I'm sure your devotions are directed to other things/people where your kindness and warmness shines, like your relationship with Seth You both seem to have great chemistry. My passion for animals come from a very simple place - it's a self-protective flight. I don't have to justify myself to them, they accept me for who I am, and they never judge. The Husband calls me Ace Ventura because animals respond to me so readily - it's an odd connection. Even horse riding comes naturally to me because of my connection with them. When I last rode in Bali, no one could believe I had only ridden twice before. "Show me the meaning of haste!" - Ely
  4. Hardly. I'm that strange geeky girl people couldn't understand It differs from person to person - some find it challenging, some find it intriguing, some find it just too much trouble Well, easy form of elimination. The good girls are the ones men want to marry though I no longer think good and bad are opposites - they are merely different intensities. I believe duality is NOT a weakening element. One can make a strong tool out of it. It all depends on one’s flexibility, if one is able to yield to double pressures and move with fluidity between them. It is the rigidity which causes the breaks. I'm think I'm a little bit opposite from you - I feel more confident about my pet-parenting abilities than being a real mother to children. Somehow I never coo at kids or offer to carry strangers' kids like some girl friends of mine do. I coo at the dogs, make instant friends with their owners, play with every stray kitty and do rounds of crazy feeding, bring the stray cats in for baths, and routine cleaning. Motherhood is going to be a very interesting, and self-revealing experience - Ely
  5. Thanks for the heads-up, Marshy. Well the painting today was so blotched up, I don't even know why I bothered with paying that much for the extra plastering... Apparently, dumping paint down my toilets is also standard practice, is that true? They turned up at 430pm, hoping to leave at 5 (MCST regulations)...Sigh. I kept offering them drinks, and they kept declining, and then I catch them all helping themselves to the drinks in my fridge! Seriously! Not sure how much longer I can be "nice". So frustrating. - Ely
  6. Hi Kobelala, Here's the JRT for adoption: Description: Hi my name is Joey and I am looking for a good home for adoption. I am lovable, loyal, paper-trained and obedient. Love the water and chasing seaside waves. I will look after your house like no other can. I am a clean and low maintenance dog. Pls do give me a call at 9423 6968. - Ely
  7. That song resonates so well with me that I have it on my playlist for the band at the wedding I love covers too! I chose Boyce Avenue's: Thank you, sleek. That made me smile today, and it's only 11am! Much <3, Ely
  8. It's always amusing watching a fat cat haha Thanks, footprint, hoping things will go smoothly from now onwards - meanwhile, will try to retain the queenly inner poise. It was the Paiza (Sands' premium mansions - had a personal friend pull some strings for me) and the Ritz (thanks honey ) - both use Bvlgari exclusively so I had a field trip with my BBB (Big Black Bag tm) The ID has come to a point where he's now given up on the carpenter. I know he won't be retained for future jobs with him and their relationship is so sour that they no longer speak when the ID goes to inspect the works. I hope he turns up today though... *hugz* Thanks marshy So true, Patsy - all I'm lacking is my cocktail shaker so I'll just have a beer Nothing spells a holiday more than the luxury of having alchohol in the afternoon!! - Ely
  9. Ader, you must not have read about chronic asthma/allergy condition that requires an entire brew of meds daily (I'm on prescription eye drops, nasal sprays, steroids, 2 inhalers, several antihistamines, steroid creams) but it's so rewarding what the pets return to you. They never lie about love, and they never hold grudges. My private personality led me to bond with animals a lot more so it comes naturally to me the responsibilities of good pet ownership as well as spoiling them to bits. I've been hospitalised several times for asthma in the ICU and even had an ambulance come to get me because I was literally dying. It hasn't deterred me from keeping pets at all. Of course, I get a lot of flak from my asthma specialist but we manage, and we're doing more than okay. If I can control my medical problems while living with (currently) 4 dogs, 3 cats, a bird, fish, then a childhood asthma history won't be a problem. I, too, had asthma since I was a child. It's also about grooming. I brush Bondi twice daily despite how dog-tired I am. I use shed control shampoo. I bathe them weekly. I use the best rake brushes out there. I provide the best food I can afford. I understand not everyone is as devoted to animals as I am, but if you take some necessary precautions (which is also seen as good bonding time with the pets), you can have it all. Cats rarely, if ever, require discipline. In fact, they train you Well, take a look for yourself with Bondi when you come over. Also a good way of seeing if you're still allergic to their dander/fur, especially when he has really plush fur - Ely
  10. Oh gawd, why do I still remember my ICQ number and the annoying sounds it made? Mine was like a 5 digit number...and I used my own scripts for IRC and was on Dalnet channels like #H_A_C_K, #Hackers etc (reason how I first picked up Swedish), and was sy-ops for most of the channels I frequented, or hijacked a-ops for channels I wanted Was a bad, bad girl. - Ely
  11. Nah, I would have measured the box if I still had it. Unfortunately, the stored invoices from vPost shows the entire bill, not the break down so I can't help you further - I'm sorry. Thanks so much for the compliment - I do hope it's pretty as it's not assembled yet and packed in one of the boxes. There will be pics once I've settled in. For US$187, I'm not complaining - I've seen prices of the chandelier floor lamps here - Ely
  12. Thanks, being assertive when suitably annoyed suits my style best. Well, progress update Sirs/Duchess/Queens/Kings/HTS-IT Call Center: TODAY - WEDNESDAY (DAY 92): Carpenter no show. Plastering is almost finished, and professional drainage guys unearthed cement rocks and an entire rag down my drainage traps! WTF?! Called my ID immediately because it flooded both the wet/dry kitchens and all the sub-cons are now pushing the blame to the other (plumber said it's painter, painter said it's tiler, tiler said it's not him). ID is trying to find the bastid who uses rags like that. Completely unacceptable! Also cannot believe they poured cement down my pipes! Definitely am not paying this hefty bill! (see, irritation with stupidity gets the blood flowing faster) THURSDAY (DAY 93): MCST to fix water leakage from the walls above into my balcony; last of plastering; painters; Singtel to fix my broadband connection after charging me for an entire month of usage when it was not even activated, and gave me the wrong telephone number after making me choose (oh, why oh why do I have such luck! Managed to swing an entire waiver of the month's bill though); and *maybe* the carpenter will grace my place with his presence today FRIDAY (DAY 94): General wash & cleaning, shelving guy SATURDAY (DAY 95): Wallpaper, maybe will call electrician to fix the T5s if the carpenter finally shows. TUESDAY (DAY 98): Couch! - Ely
  13. Ooh, that's bad timing isn't it? Hmm. Maybe I should look at another date? How about 19 June, Sunday, or 2 July? Maybe I should do a poll of some sort... - Ely
  14. Not too keen on dogs/cats? Oh ****, sorry, Maxey and Bondi will be sharing the bathroom that day Those stuff were freebies the "kiasu" Singaporean couldn't resist taking home from the hotels, except for the Boots hand cream. There's Dove shampoo and conditioner too~ Being the Virgo I am, I like to cover all bases when it comes to overnight guests - bathrobe, guest slippers, nail buffers, emery boards, deodorant etc. I think I would notice if one piece of art is missing... they're not easy to stuff into the Big Black Bag either - Ely
  15. Aww, too kind Patsy - for both the offer to help pick up the others, and for offering to bring more booze We'll try to do some form of coordination on the boards and whatsapp - Ely
  16. I'm being a lazy hostess! Only pizza! Didn't you see the spread at May's?? Boxes and boxes of pizza haha! It's also easier to move around with a piece of pizza to mingle about. No Lux ad as I have no exhibitionist bathroom It only works when you're trying to seduce someone (like in May's place, where the bath directly faces the bed!!) while casually trying to pretend you're only just enjoying the suds. And no lah, no practice! The Husband can (sadly) attest to that. He knows it's my silly humour though and thought it funny more than sexy. Humph. Even if I'm cooing, he'd think I'm talking to the pets !! - Ely
  17. Oh, do some stealthy sneaking - I'm sure you'd like everyone. I had such a good time at May Dream's and was really happy to have made some really good friends. Bring anything you like - we're not particular when it comes to alcohol at all ! Beer is great for a hot afternoon, wine is always welcome (both white and red), and whiskey can be a nice nightcap. - Ely
  18. Thanks, Ader! I think they're pretty too Yeah, I did get them afterall - 4 in fact ! Not sure if they're super nice (I doubt my taste now and then as I'm quite an impulsive buyer) - 1 is, 1 was more impressive in the pics than IRL so moving it elsewhere, and waiting for two others. Actually, they're not as expensive as you'd think, especially the auction pieces. I've seen the relisted same item go for US$42 to US$280. It's all about stalking and bidding, like I mentioned in the Guide to Internet Shopping thread. Always keep a Watch tab and watch several and ALL relisted items after the bidding has ended. You'll know when you get a good deal The Buy It Now ones can be pricey and those are the artists' treasured pieces. Sometimes you can make them a offer and see if they'd accept. If the item has been listed for a long time (again, Watch, Watch, Watch!), you'll most likely be able to bargain for it. - Ely
  19. Another royalty! *air kisses* Ha! Your name IS on the list Looking forward to meeting you too, do let me know when you're planning for the high-tea so we won't clash as my place is soooo far away for most. Unfortunately, unable to provide shuttle service from MRT as I realise I now need to be IN the house (The Husband will be too shy on his own) and our car is simply too small to make effective use of (it's a 2+2). I'm hoping you guys make some arrangement amongst yourselves to share a cab from the MRT station - would definitely provide more directions and details closer to the date. Not going to be as ambitious as Friends78 and May Dream in providing a FEAST but there will be an assortment of pizza (thin crust for the carb-conscious), alcohol, sparkling juice for the non-drinkers, a smoking area, music, and entertainment provided by Maxey and Bondi (Definitely no Lux ad here). Just a really casual, no fuss-no muss gathering. I'll tentatively book 25 June, Saturday? Would probably hold another for the family the week prior. - Ely
  20. Hi Rayfox, Thanks for stopping by. It's from lightingdirect.com - US$187 (free ship within US), can't remember the vPost shipping charge now as it was all consolidated but it was a total of S$800 for the shipping for quite many items (several of which were bulky). I'm going to stake a guess that it's probably about S$150 - S$250 for the shipping since the box is pretty large. Sorry, can't help more as I no longer have the box to measure the shipping dimensions for you There's a much prettier one at enziodesigns.co.uk for £109.00 (more crystals) but didn't buy it cos it was more expensive. - Ely
  21. Never knew catnip could deter cockroaches. Used to grow them for the kitties in Australia, and unsure if they had any effect. Very easy to maintain, Marshy. I find Catgrass less hardy (had to keep replacing those, but the Catnip grew and grew). The one with the leaves (non-lalang) are Catnip - hard to tell from the pic but there were newly bought. They did eventually grow into quite a nice bunch. There are those liners from Daiso you can use for all the drainage traps that prevents the roaches from being able to crawl out of there. Also, having a flat fixed rubbish chute eliminates the probability of them using the chute to enter your home. Maxey and Bondi tag-teams to gently render the intruder roach paralytic so I simply scoop up and flush away. UGH. They leave it still alive so I spray on it first. Gross, gross, gross. - Ely
  22. You girls are being very naughty! /smack It was May who pointed out how her shower area directly faces the bed, which gave me the idea of... Lux shower ad. But knowing The Husband, he would be too zoned out watching the TV to even notice my Girls Gone Wild version~ 21 sets of bedsheets?!?! I um, have two. The Queen is definitely failing to live up to her name. Well, Sleek, with NO door or wall, I suggest a pole in a bathroom! (Disclaimer: there will no demo with the pole when we visit) - Ely
  23. No wedding pics...yet. And most likely will only have 1. I don't like putting up pictures with me in them Probably my dark and twisty art, some DIY ones, and yes, I took up the eBay offer with Snapfish to do a poster collage for only S$4.98 with all pictures of cats/dogs ! It was the art that required me to plaster the walls, as there's halogen lights for them... Lose/lose! - Ely
  24. I love the tiles combo in the bathroom - really nice Nice progress too - everything seems to be falling together nicely. Hope your reno goes smoothly! - Ely
