Well, garden aside, our work for our access area had began.. at the factory. Like I have said, the purpose of having this access area is not to create a "storeroom" or a cage but it is to beautiful or sort of complete the house which we had envision of. So here is my sketch to the wrought iron factory. And here is what the factory had made. Now just waiting for the unit number to be ready, outdoor treatment coating, painting and then installation. It will be installed first before our tiling and painting can begin...

decided to start focusing on my little urban garden Having no luck growing my thymes and rosemary from cuttings, so decided to grab a pot or 2 instead. And saw these beautiful flowers which i think is just the correct height for my perfect study room view. The Angelonia plant The Cosmo plant And even my cherry Tomatoes are blooming soon.. can't wait to taste my own grown cherry tomatoes

k, we had got the final approval from HDB on our access area. had met up with the both the contractor for the wet works and wrought iron. drawings had been given to them and now wait for their quote and their confirm sketches prior to commence work. Hope we can get it up before end of June... hee..

Wow, you had a nice EM done up. 2YRS! gosh. They are really taking their own sweet time there. Maybe I should consider a retirement job at HDB when i get older. Anyway, after drastic measures had been taken, we finally got our documents in the mail box yesterday.. APPROVED ! ^_^

updates About our access area, we have gotten the green light from Starhub, Law Firm and the Bank. So now left with the slowest of all, HDB who had initially sat on our case for nothing (just becos someone there assumed that we don't want it already) for since CNY.

Thanks Peacejr. Being living in a dark and dingy house for the past 10 yrs. So now given a second chance, i want light to flow thru every room thru out the entire house.

Truly understand the "stress". Must choose carefully. Cos we have chose the correct contractor company but the wrong contractor to handle our job. Had a few heated talks during the the renovations and we aren't really happy the way the house is been end up till date. hahaha.. sort of regret. So do chose carefully.

^_^ no worries. Will look forward to your T-Blog.

Finally, gonna start coming up the design for our access area.

So far so good for us. We went to get it becos it so waterproof that, if you dare, you can lay it in the bathroom ( as since in their video ads). Its actually feels pretty solid. when you drop your keys on it or step on it, it does feels hallow like laminate. it feels pretty solid. Some says its something like Vinyl flooring. We did created some accidental scratch when moving it, but its because we tried to slide a wardrobe forcefully across the room.. in a way that any type of flooring would get damage. In short, as long as its normal usage, it should be ok. Especially if it comes with lifetime warranty.

wow.. 3K without the track.. my contractor quoted me as a whole carpentry package, including the ladder. He later did complain that he forgot to quote the ladder in, but i insisted, since it was already black and white on my signed copy + bad job on the overall. In all, that shelf with the ladder cost $3,920.

Lovely house u got there.

Can't believe it. Submit application to HDB for our access area before christmas. Was informed that it was approved before CNY and that they will be sending us the documents to proceed. Till date, no updates until recently when calls were made and emails sent, only did the officer called back. And to our horror, he dares asked us "so you confirm you interested in purchasing your access area? If yes then I will send the documents which will guide you step by step through the procedure..." We were like OMG.. if we are not interested, why did we apply in the first place. Plus isn't the docu to be send out after CNY already? And if the docu is only about the procedure, why isn't it been send out earlier?? Gosh.
-
Woo.. so how much hafele quoted you? Ya. its very difficult to find in Singapore and a few reasons i guess would be -no many ppl collects enough books to fill up the bookshelves ( i m still trying to fill mine, 1 at a time) -Singapore houses are too small nowadays to accommodate the span required for a bookshelf to come with a ladder without looking too weird, I supposed customisation is the way to go if you are really interested.
-
Hi MightyA, Mine was custom made by my contractor who did a very bad job. The sliding was as smooth as I want and it lacks the locking feature required for safety. You might wana to check with Hafele http://www.hafele.com.sg/sg/en/documents/hsi_ff-catalogue_2012_(6)homeimprovementfittings_ladders.pdf . I wanted the siding ladder version and had shown to my contractor but to my horror I was given a lousy custom job instead. Hope the info helps.

Well, I prefer to conceal all my entertainment equipment concealed rather than exposing them. However, to conceal them would means that my remote control would not be able to send the iR signal to the equipment, unless I open the door of my cabinet which would defeat the purposes. So I got myself a iR Repeater/ Extender which would repeat the iR signal from my remote via a small receiver to my conceal equipment. voila, problem solved. For a better understand, you can take a look at this

No worries ^_^ once u get your keys, thinks will be moving very fast from there onwards. So this is a good time to camp out here in renotalk and plan ahead.

since this home was pretty much "custom made", i thought it would be good if i were to commission my own lights. So i made my bathroom light myself, all four of them. it as simple as getting some candle lamp from ikea and the light cord, drill some holes, filed it out and pop in the light cord holder and voila.

oh, saw some photos of the renders our contractor provided for us. and i suddenly realised how much risk we took with them as we never actually saw the correct renders to what we actually wanted. Though they said its their outsource designer's fault but to me, i only see who i am paying to. So here are the few "version" which they changed and changed but always something is wrong some where, even till the end.

finally have my own coffee machine at home n now i can enjoy the aroma of fresh brewed ground, made from grinding my own beans.

specially bought a IR extender so that i can keep all my clutter home entertainment out of sight.
