  1. My first night after moving back to our 'new' house: The totally 'black-out' night & day curtains at MBR....As per advice of my fsm, I must installed those heavy, black-out curtains as my feet are pointing to the window when I sleep at night.
  2. I am also using BLUM runners for all drawers and hinges for doors: Here are some of my progress photographs of the installation in progress. My kitchen...
  3. The modified TV console.... Finally managed to get my son to hook-up the TV...leftover is mummy's job to tie-up the loose cables underneath the TV console...and get some help to connect the amplifier & speakers. Will be getting a sound bar as the old sound surround system does not fit in to the theme. I have to call for service to check the TV next week; the TV set was alright on first day, but now, when it is switched on, the power will automatically cut off after one minute. Dun know what's gone wrong with our Sharp Aquo TV....my son tested the power supply using his electric guitar & he told me nothing wrong with the electric supply, so it must be the TV which might have damaged during the move. ....and the tight walking space between TV console & dining table! That's why we have to orientate the chairs & placed them in such a way which will not obstruct the walkway.
  4. Hi, May Xin Nian Hao! Wishing you in good health, good wealth & good spirit all the time throughout the Metal Rabbit year! ...and also a smooth reno as it looks like your planning for renovation will start anytime after CNY, with more than a month for your ID/contractor selection process right?
  5. Final complete photographs - Dining area The marble round table with 4 white chairs. Supposed to get the oblong table to match the design theme, but I have to listen to the advice of my feng shui master. Also ended up with 4 bulky chairs (see earlier post on how & why these chairs were selected) instead of 6 normal chairs, due to space constraints. The crystals chandelier at dining area with plastic wrappers not removed yet: Once the wrappers are removed, this is the effect... ...with LED lights switched on: ...with warm lights switch on:
  6. To all my friends here I like to wish everyone a Happy & Prosperous Lunar Year of Metal Rabbit!
  7. The long awaited internet connection is up today! Perhaps we are among the earlier batch of users of fibre broadband....and my children commented the super fast download speed! For those of you who are considering to subscribe to M1 fibre broadband, please note the 8 working days leadtime for your application.
  8. We are the luckier ones! We have installed M1 fibre broadband & my children have started using the Internet. Comments from my sons that downloading speed is super fast!
  9. I learnt classical feng shui from 2 feng shui masters, i.e. Pure feng shui & not the 'new age' feng shui which is about placement of symbolic items. Nevertheless, we are Chinese & there are cultural believe & tradition which we cannot simply ignored. I will pm you what I need from you to start with free house fs audit, after CNY.
  10. My 'an-Chuan' method is very simple: - prepare 4 red packets & place at 4 corners of bed. Don't use the money inside! Leave there forever. - place one plate of 5 oranges in the center of bed - choose an auspicious day & time - roll the oranges on the bed, - push the bed to wall . - both hands firmly pressed 9 times on the mattress while standing at the other end of bed. The above procedure is different for wedding 'an- chuan' method. Taking this opportunity, let me wish you double happiness in 2011! Huat ahh & Yam seng!
  11. Hi, january I have cooled down now after that episode. Yup, all the bedrooms & kitchen look huge except for the living & dining room due to conversion made to downsize them.
  12. Actually I am a nice person but turned nasty when they provided me BAD services!
  13. Hello, bepgof & forumers here Time really flies! While we are preparing ourselves for this busy and joyous holiday season, it is also a good time to reflect on the cherished and important things which we have achieved in life, especially those who touched our hearts in 2010. The meaningful and intangible things which we find it hard to live without would be our family and close friends. Family and friendship enrich our lives in incredibly significant and almost indescribable ways. May you all have a blissful & properous Lunar New Year of the Metal Rabbit 2011!
  14. Some of the items prepared for our move-in ceremony yesterday: Fruits are: 5 oranges, 5 apples, a bundle of 8 bananas, 2 pineapples with head & tail intact: Fill up 2 pails with 8/10 volume of water (couldn't find red pail, ended up buying these 2 instead) ...and my tradition for CNY....must hang these leeks as high as possible! ...and the highest spot in my kitchen is the water pipes along the ceiling.
  15. Final complete photographs - MBR - continued With the final touch yesterday...the bedsheet & quilt cover set. This is where the headboard is leaning against the back of full height pole system wardrobe, at the right entrance to MBR.
  16. Final complete photographs - MBR The wooden sliding door & the queensize Sealy Kingbury mattress without bedsheet until move-in ceremony was done yesterday. Behind the wooden sliding door is another mirror sliding door to entrance of toilet. I leave a gap for bedframe against the wall (infact that is the back of my wardrobe) until the move-in ceremony (and "an-chuan) was done yesterday. The headboard and back wall which took 4 times to paint it correctly (due to silicon on headboard which does not bond with the paint)
  17. This is the mattress in dispute..... Seen here is Nicolas of X'Clusive Home who came to swop the mattress. The 'superior comfort' mattress is leaning against the wall, whilst Nicolas unwrapped the 'ContourMatic' mattress. Can you tell the difference in the thickness of both mattresses? I can accept this 'temporary' mattress for the next 2 months until the one we ordered is delivered to us.
  18. I am a Ding, Yin fire person, so dun play play... The cheque which I issued for $1.8k is for the final full payment on the day of delivery. I bought a dining set & the super single bed, total damage is $3.8k. I have made a downpayment of $2k, left $1.8k to be made upon delivery. I think all furniture shops would ask you for a downpayment. Not sure if they accept post dated cheque without downpayment.
  19. This morning, went to Giant to get 2 red pails & some fruits including 2 pineapples with head & tail intact for today's move in ceremony. As I was also asked to get few pieces if charcoal, I remember Daiso sells these charcoal in Japanese packing. The sun was still bright at around 1pm this afternoon when I started the ceremony. A light shower started around 2pm while we were having a cooked meal. Today, our last piece of furniture has arrived too! I will post up the batch of photographs soon... Stay tuned!
  20. We almost ended up without a bed & mattress if they didn't swop with a comparable range of mattress for my youngest son. That's the power of complaint with a valid reason. If suppliers & my ID have an award for 'Best Nasty Customer', I know I would win the prize!
  21. Hi, Reiki You are right, I am thankful that I have a very responsible & good ID who goes extra miles to meet all my requests until now! Thank you for the greeting, and it is truly a new lease of life for all of us in our 'new' house!
  22. Hi, CoffeeMan Thank you for your greeting! It is truly a memorable renovation race, packed with joy & sorrow, and I am glad that I am able to 'cut the ribbon' today!
