  2. Progress photographs as at Friday, 14-January evening, continued The carpenter had installed similar suspended tables in all sons' room: Pole System Wardrobes installation: MBR: BR 2 & 3 similar interior layout: BR 4: All aluminium frame sliding doors with frosted glass will be installed in Monday.
  3. I came back again in the late evening and these are the latest progress photographs: Kitchen - partial drawers installed Solid surface guy came to take measurements ..and they have cut out the hole for cooker hob.... I have no time to go up today as I was attending a feng shui astrology seminar at Raffles City until nearly 6pm this evening.
  4. The electrician and his last piece of 'finished' product...the chandelier light at Dining area which is the piece he assembled and installed on Friday afternoon. The closeup of the crystal chandelier at Dining Area...the most expensive lights from the bulk of $3800 paid for whole house...comes with 3-way control for LED light, warm light or combination of both. Another quite expensive piece of 'bird cage' light for the mini garden yard...will be covering up the ugly U-pipe with some creeping plants. Will not box up as it will be blocking some natural lights.
  5. Progress Photographs, Friday around 12:30pm Carpentry works: Kitchen cabinet installation in progress. You will see that I changed the internal carcass from white to Grey color polycam, and Blum systems for all drawers. Pole System Wardrobe installation in progress: Lightings: MBR - downlights & cove lights ready Kitchen - normal Ceiling florescent light Kitchen Foyer - Downlights & Cove lights
  6. hahaha....that's why I stand far away watching them arguing over the track for the curtains.
  7. Hi, singabox I would strongly recommend my electrician, but he is not from the ID company. Look at how careful he installed the chandelier lights for my dining area...I was there the whole afternoon watching how he meticulously installed these crystals and lights.... He is a Malaysian, and I understand he will stop work by next weekend and return after CNY. I will PM you his contact number.
  8. Hi, JCase I saw my neighbour painted their wrought iron gate too, but in black so it looks ok. So, I also want to paint them over in beige colour as per my FSM recommendation. Not that bad as our original wrought iron gate was already so rusty after over a year. Anyway, here are 2 pictures from the images I took yesterday around noon time when the contractor for Pole System wardrobes came to unload the materials.
  9. Hi, forumers & friends here Thank you for all your well wishes you sent me here,as well those who PM me. I want to let you know how much I'm touched by your kind words & encouragement. I am attending JY "Empowering Your Destiny" Year of Metal Rabbit 2011 seminar at Raffles City Convention Centre now. Met many of my classmates from JY & VK classes. Also met Mr Eng, from Singapore Feng Shui Association, the the famous Astro Palmist Master Khor whom we met at last year convention organised by SFC. In case you are also here, I'm the lady sitting in the front centre row of seats...
  10. Activities for today: Tiler Ah Lim is coming over to touch up the groutings and re-do skirtings around the feature walls. ID had 'warned' me before I screamed at him, to prepare to see 'lobang' in the grouting as it is an inevitable process during chemical wash. Carpenter is also coming to install the kitchen cabinet......so I must be there to inspect! I am taking half day off this afternoon, and I will be attending a FengShui Astrology seminar by my FSM, Joey Yap, tomorrow. Will be meeting my old 'kakis' there... Will update on the installation progress soon!
  11. $450 sounds reasonable. My headboard cost nearly 50% more, but mine is 8 feet length x 1.2 m height, comes with metal strips. I have to customise my 2" thick headboard because not enough walking space left.. I saw Ikea selling headboards for queen size bedframe, though price is about what you are paying for.
  12. Welcome...another house with fengshui audit like mine! Yr hse looks spacious! Wishing you a smooth journey!
  13. Hi, footprint Good Morning and thank you for visiting my t-blog. My workplace is at International Business Park, a stone throw away from Pandan Gardens. All my lunchtime is spent going up to inspect the works. Whenever there is new activities, I will pay close attention to that particular task. It is better to give the contractors daily punchlist once you spot anything not to your expectation because getting them to return again is quite difficult once they left the place to another job site, especially during the peak season when home owners are rushing to move in before CNY. ....and I buy lunch for the workers. As for my ID, I have yet to compliment him for his efficient service. Must wait until the whole renovation is complete then I deliver to him my verdict. He is really a good ID, so I am his 'Bad' customer always making last minute changes to reno items.
  14. MBR - view from the door entrance. Colour for this side of the wall is Forever Blue. Lights still installing in progress... Will work with ID again, hopefully after CNY, on solutions for the wall below the aircon fan coil unit. Intially wanted to take back the 1-year old IKEA white cabinet...but now I changed my mind and wants everything new. However, as 5-Yellow resides in my bedroom next year, i.e. after Feb 4, I can't renovate the room until an auspicious date is selected. Let me think about it, while ID think what to do with that wall, so as not to block the natural lights coming from windows to the LivingRoom just outside. Painters painting the door grilles. Both Main & Side doors will be replaced and installation is scheduled for next Monday. ....and again and again...my ID...I guess he is now suspecting that I am taking his photographs instead of work progress so he tried to 'siem' when he sees my camera, talking on phone at a far distance away from me! (I always took his picture either he was busy talking to contractor or busy on the phone). Today, heard him calling the glass work contractor to return to touch up the silicon, and visiting my downstairs neighbour who had complained of water stain on the ceiling at Kitchen area...unavoidable as our block is 30 years old and the structure had become porous, so when we laid the wet cement, it is inevitable for water seeping through the common structure (ceiling). It is very unreasonable neighbour...expect my painter to give them special coating from company like Chemitreat or those special marine paint! I told the male owner to fly kite! We will only reinstate what is normally practised in the industry for home renovation, and told him off that we cannot meet his extreme demand which is beyond HDB regulations. In the end, before we left, ID told this male owner that we will scrap off the old paint, and repaint 2 layers of paint for them. Period. Cool man.....
  15. continued... LivingRoom - Color is Morning Dew for the walls. Dining Area - Color is Sandstone. Pendant light at the centre will be installed tomorrow Kudos to the Electrician! Good workmanship & attention to details...touching up the corners of downlight The rest of lights will be completed by tomorrow. I have also signed the form for PE certification & returned to Guo Xin this afternoon.
  16. Progress today: Went up twice today, one during usual lunchtime and another at 3:30pm when ID told me that he is coming over to discuss the platform for bedroom 4, as we need to shift it inwards to make room for more walking space between wardrobe and the platform. Lightings are almost done when I went up at 3:30pm today. Painting is also near completion and left only touching up corners. They will do acid cleaning this evening and hopefully, by tomorrow morning, my house is 'sui sui' already. Here are the progress photographs taken this afternoon: MBR - Color is Forever Blue & Mosiac Grey. There is another Laminated Wooden sliding door which will be ready in time for handover. Bedroom 2 - Greystone & Morning Dew Bedroom 3 - Cool Lime Green & Morning Dew Bedroom 4 - Greystone for TV feature wall & Morning Dew for rest of walls
  17. Progress photographs: There are 2 main features which make a house beautiful and that is the house decor and lightings. Look at the amount of lights required for my extreme makeover plan! Remember the earlier post on the wall switch for toilet @ MBR? My electrician is also amazing ....he managed to re-route the switch seamlessly! ...and the final touch for the switches used in my house.
  18. As mentioned in the beginning of my post, I dropped the rest of IDs and even the cheapest contractors like 'hot potatoes' as they are not as diligent and hardworking as my ID! .....
  19. I guess the electrician will do special wiring and change the normal switch. We are using down lights & cove lights for all rooms, whole house. The electrician told me that the remote switch comes with 3 way programme; 1st one for both warm & cool white lights ON at the same time, 2nd one for switching only the Warm lights ON, and the 3rd one for the Cool white lights. Can only install after PE inspection...so I will take photgraphs and post up in due course. I get sick of seeing the same design / color of curtains for sooo long. Further, my place is very windy, and so it is very dusty. I am a 'clean' freak...and I can't stand messy, untidy, all things must be neat & clean. That's why I like all things in white color and I luv glass and mirrors. Any spots or stains can be noticed and clean up immediately. I dont like black, or dull color as dirt will be camouflaged! tsk tsk tsk..
  20. Progress photographs: ICI paint on standby yesterday....one Morning Dew for LivingRoom, and Mosiac Grey for MBR - partial wall. Today, the 1st coat of Morning Dew for the LivingRoom..should achieve warm ambience when the ceiling & cove lights are up later this week. MBR with 1st coat of Mosiac Grey color. The rest of walls will be painted in 'Forever Blue'.... All painting colour scheme are planned according to the advice of my Feng Shui master. It is therefore a challenge for my ID to strike a balance to achieve the design scheme intended for a modern home concept, with little room for his creation. Yet, he can deliver! Today, the lights ordered from Azora_Lightings have arrived. As delivery time was scheduled between 11:30am to 1:00pm, I stayed longer than my usual lunch break while waiting for them to deliver....and chance upon our hardworking ID at the carpark while I bought packet food for the painter. .....and his presence is a pleasant surprise to me as I thought there is no need for ID to 'supervise' the painting.
  21. I guess it is the quality of fabric that makes the price difference. Only the MBR comes with full length curtains. The rest are all half-length due to obstruction by the suspended study tables in the children's room. We also didn't install any roller blinds, and the fabric chosen not the heavy type as I am used to bringing down the curtains for washing every 2 months or so.
  22. Hello, january I am February here...literally - born in Feb! Welcome to my blog and I have been following up reading yours and others' reno blog. My children seem to be busier than their mum! Hence, I am alone following up the reno. It is coming to an end soon... The wall socket is really useful. Another useful gadget will be the remote control device for ceiling lights in MBR and my children's room so that we do not have to walk up to the wall switch to turn off lights at night, especially MBR comes with night curtains. Imagine you walk to turn off the lights, room becomes so dark and then you have to find your way back to the bed.
  23. Hi, Reiki Thank you for reading my blog and providing me the useful information which I truly appreciate it very much! As parents, we divorced when the children were very young. I fought but eventually gave up the fight after 2 years contesting the custody of the children. Their father died last year, and they moved back to stay with me. (Believe in Destiny: What ever is Yours, Will be Yours!!) I had only the custody of my youngest son (3 years old then) and he has been staying alone in one of the 2 bedrooms. So, the 2 big boys have to share one room which prompted me to convert our livingroom into a new bedroom. Now all 3 sons have their own rooms equally & beautifully renovated Being apart for so many years, this is now the least a maternal mother could do to keep the children happy. As for my house, it was my children's idea to engage an ID and we have no regret so far. Our ID is very hardworking and he has been following closely the renovation works for me. I know I am a very picky & difficult customer for him to handle. Further, as I have engaged a fengshui master to plan the color theme, I thought I have given too much restrictions & pressure to our ID. So I was curiously waiting for the 3D drawings to see how my ID whipped up his magic wand. That's how I choose the title and sub-heading of this t-blog. Nevertheless, the 3D drawings turned out beautifully and we are all happy with the modern concept and colour theme for our makeover plan. I salute to my ID for his patience and dedication!
  24. Hi, sgwong In my humble opinion, it is not the ID firm that matters. This is because there is always a mix of so called 'good' and 'bad' ID's in every firms, even in those renowned firms recommended by forumers here. Some IDs will take up the 'Sales' process, and once you inked the contract, it is handled by their project team. Also very important evaluation criteria is how well our ID has handled referenced projects for his customers, and the feedback on his service, his prompt follow up action & active project management, as well as our "click' factor. To my understanding, their office called me up in between our renovation to check on my ID's performance, getting feedback from customers to see where they can improve their service. So far, with a bit of luck & affinity, I am happy with the service my ID has provided and his dedication in taking care of the whole reno process. I have PM'd you his full contact details. Good luck to you if you are searching for ID / ID's firm.
  25. Progress photographs: When I went up yesterday during my lunchtime, saw that aircon installation was already completed. When they called me on Monday afternoon, I have asked them not to deliver as painting is still in progress. Yet, it was installed!! Sighzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz Last evening, when the painters left, I conducted a detailed check and found the FCU at Bedroom 3 not properly flushed with the wall, and lower left portion was protruding. I called the installer and this is our dialogue: Me: Joey, let me know when are you coming to collect the cheque for balance money, ok. Joey: I thought of calling you 2 or 3 days later. Me: Oh, you can ask your man come to collect the cheque from me, but I need to check what's wrong with the FCU at the bedroom facing the dining area. Joey: Which one, which Room? Me: Bedroom 3 lor, the smallest room. I see not aligned leh, left lower postion is protruding out. Joey: There is outlet pipe connection at that FCU, the left side of it. So, you see non-alignment. Me: Huh, What? How come only this FCU has outpipe ? I don't see others got problem leh?? The rest of FCUs sui sui, good alignment, no problem. Joey: Ya, it is because of the aircon pipe coming out from that left side of FCU for that unit. Me: I don't think so, you have to get your man to come & check for me. Joey: OK, I send my man to check. I climbed on top of a bench and took a close-up picture of the mentioned FCU: The compressor outside the windows of MBR. Other than the abovementioned issue, the rest of installation seems acceptable, but yet to test run the units. Hi, there Is there any particular / important things which I need to take note when I test run the aircon systems?
