  1. really everything adds up one.... abit here abit there..become alot somemore now just nice before 7% GST, more *reason* to tell yourself to buy those things rather than later hor..... your wmf
  2. actually a budget of 10k is also very tight for 4room, let alone your unit..hehe
  3. can't remember already cos they come in different configurations. also dunno where i kept my invoice.... go visit their showroom and get the GSS discount how i wish my living is bigger...can put another of their sofa
  4. WMF's my fav!! my mum's fav too!! she kept raving to me on her experience with her collection! ... was drooling over the entire kitchen set when i did my reno, really very very pretty... but didnt buy them at my mum's advise, coz it's really too costly and reno's already costing us alot, and besides, we seldom and we dont know how to cook! haha.. prolly will collect them bit by bit, so that we dont burn a huge hole in our pockets!
  5. Ah Keong prolly wants to keep your wiring concealed, that is why he says that need to hack tiles to shift socket. Of course, if you dont mind external shifting (where white electrical casing is visable), shifting is possible almost anywhere.
  6. think got GSS discount.. the sofas look very much nicer in the showroom... the sofas are modular and thus can mix and match according to your living room shape/design
  7. linda, have u checked out Massimmo? good range of sofas http://www.massimmo.com/sofa.php
  8. understand. For us, we didnt need to hack coz we were doing the stainless steel backsplash for the entire stretch, and the tile above are overlays. You prolly need a switch for your hood and hob too.. seems like you need 7 switches?
  9. Hi Applefreak, See that you are comtemplating where to place the stove in your blog. Just want to share our experience with you since we have the same layout. Our kitchen has the sink, stove and fridge are all in one line, just like your initial plans. Yes, the socket will be baked everytime you cook, so we shifted the socket left, nearer the fridge (which till now we have not plugged anything into the sockets yet, only used the sockets behind the fridge) The available countertop space between the stove and sink is more than sufficient for our cooking use, maybe cos we are not heavy cooks Just thought that it's easier that you have sink and stove alongside, less messy when you cook (wun drip/drop things on the floor). And besides, it's good to maintain a "dry kitchen" side, where you have your tall cabinet and table.
  10. definitely a good alternative to granite, can it be seamless for long lengths? wanted to get granite for countertop as well but cos of the visible seams, finally went for corian. but if silestone can be seamless at long lengths, then really worth considering for you
  11. specifications aside, it's the look as well, somehow solid tops gives a modern look to a kitchen. postform seems to give kitchen an aged/classic look, good for those going for country-home look any surface damage to solid surface, can be polished/grind/buffed away, whereas damage to postform top, more difficult to rectify.
  12. actually black coloured tops will show dirt/dust/scratches more easily compared to light coloured tops. but your case seem unique. do you mean the whitish patch actually embedded itself into the surface? maybe the surface of your solid top is more porous that's why trapped dust/dirt from all the reno dust flying around, but then again....really strange to hear that u put things on top and the whitish patch appeared underneath..hehe
  13. Hi TYM, we chose the same material as the one in the showroom..but with more *leather-looking* grains.
  14. hmm.. never noticed.. coz since shifted in, we had windows. So will close them when rain comes, not too sure if it's splashing in past the pipes. Sorries...
  15. hi applefreak, yes the rain does splash into the yard, esp when it's a downpour
  16. got the Papardelle and a rug from them... very good service
  17. apple/bluberi never mind lah..when unit-visit then see then... this thread mainly to discuss apple's progress.... shall not digress and dilute her thread nitez everyone
  18. compassvale is in sengkang wa..not sure how to do it... bluberi can help me post for apple to see? hehe
  19. hehe...i also salivate at other people's toilets lor... think the toilets are always nicer on the other side? sounds familiar....
  20. here u go..common toilet MBR toilet we prefer to keep the look simple, neat. in that way, hopefully will be more *nai kan* hehe
  21. applefreak, icic, in that case you dont have much of a choice with the MBR... bluberi, oh toilets... we thought carefully before deciding on whether to spend that money. But at the end of the day, a bath is where we relax after a hard day of work. So me loving to spend time in it is a very important factor. Expensive, but no regrets. Guess it's matter of personal preferences. hmm, lock set cost approx $50 each, so total cost is actually $230. My doors are part of the entire reno package, i guess my contractor has earned good margins on other carpentry items, prolly giving me "discount" on others?
  22. bluberi's handing over soon ya? guess once applefreak is done, we can do the mini gathering? and ooo.. i was at tangs just now too... and the sale explains why there was soooooooo many people... i just grabbed my karcher vacum cleaner and headed straight to the carpark to breathe! yes, we have exactly the same layout and the same problems. But we dont really care abt bed orientation, so it's fine that we sleep with head under window. Yup you are right, afternoon sun comes in from that window, reaching a third of our bed. But as we are working during day, and also made total blockout curtains for that window, sun problem is not so evident for us. Agree with you that the MBR is a huge problem for us, and coz of that, we spent so much on carpentary for that room (second compared to our study)!
  23. Hi Applefreak, is it absolutely necessary to open the MBR outwards to accomodate the wardrobe? if the MBR occupant doesnt mind sleeping facing the door, then a huge wardrobe can be done in the MBR still. It sounds like pretty much cost incurred just to hack and replace door frames and changing doors.... For us, we are ok with sleeping with a third of the bed facing the door. .. we have a huge wardrobe and even halfheight cabinets for folded clothes. We did change our doors to solid veneer, at 180 each without lockset. All came as part of our reno package.
  24. yupyup... reno finished since Aug 06, and moved in since Nov 06... Thanks for the compliments, our reno is just simple stuff, not much fancy designs. Trying very hard to keep it clutter free!
  25. hi bluberi, of course! let wait till we all move into the units, we fix up one weekend evening for a after dinner tour of these 2 blocks.. hee..
