  1. Did you ask them about warranty? I went to the compass pt branch and the guy said no warranty on all mattresses? Not sure about other stuff...
  2. Blessing in disguise? Happy ID Hunting!
  3. I want to share a real case with you guys. My friend (buyer) was in 'battle' with his seller earlier. He paid $1k deposit to the buyer of a resale who later backed out on his word citing that he got misled by the agent, and that 'now the market was booming, my flat should be sold at a higher price'. He wanted more COV than previously agreed. My friend told the seller to return back to 1k if he wish to cancel the deal. But the seller refused :S Apparently, they found out that this seller, an old man, owed $ to loan shark and the loan shark forced him to sell his flat. So obviously the old man wanted to get as much $ out of the deal as possible. The best part was that he already used up the 1k paid to him and unable to pay back my friend. The old man went to find legal aid to help fight his case, but even the lawyer from legal aid gave up on him based on the facts of the case. What he was trying to do was really dispicable, swallowed the money and wanted to move on to find another buyer who will pay him even more $$ for the flat. It took my friend time, $, effort, energy to liaise between numerous parties to finally get some justice. He even spoke to the loan shark to discuss the sale matter(btw, these days loan sharks are really 'professional', they even have their own lawyers). He got the flat eventually. And also need not pay for the legal fees (deduct from the old man's sale). Later while he was having his flat renovated, the neighbours informed him that there were some people outside his flat saying that they are the tenants of his unit.. The old man had taken rental deposits from at least 3 different groups of people, each given a set of house keys (of coz my friend had changed the locks)! Can you believe this...?? My friend zapped a copy of the OTP and pass to the neighbour so that he could help show to any victims who come knocking on his door (in this case, tried opening the door with the useless keys given)
  4. Hi aidygirl Have you paid the $5,000 option fee already? or just $1,000 "deposit"?

Does he/she have lots of challenging toys to keep busy with? Not sure how big is yr dog, but u can consider restricting an area for him/her while u are away. e.g. like put him in a pen?
  9. I don't think hacking can be done on a sunday leh, even with a permit... wouldn't it be very noisy? Here is the link to the HDB guidebook for your reference, hope it will be helpful to you. http://www.hdb.gov.sg/fi10/fi10297p.nsf/ImageView/RENO_GUIDEBOOK/$file/WhatYouNeedToDo.pdf On page 3: After getting the permit from HDB, your registered renovation contractor must display the HDB’s Notice of Renovation Works outside your flat until all your renovation work is completed. Your registered renovation contractor is also required to keep your neighbours [a minimum of two neighbouring flats surrounding your flat] informed of the renovation works [including works which do not require a renovation permit eg. relaxed renovation items, any carpentry works] by serving them a notice. Such notice must be served at least 3 days in advance before the commencing of any renovation. Note the general renovation works can only be carried out between 8.00am to 6.00pm daily. However, noisy renovation works, such as demolition of walls, removing wall/ floor finishes, cutting of tiles and drilling works, etc. are restricted from 9.00am to 5.00pm daily during weekdays. Noisy renovation works are not allowed to be carried out on Saturdays, Sundays and Public Holidays. Your renovation contractor is allowed to use not more than two HDB approved hand-held power tools or their equivalent at any one time to demolish walls and/or removal of wall/ floor finishes. Such works must be completed within three consecutive days. The list of approved tools is available at HDB InfoWEB at www.hdb.gov.sg. All the renovation works must be completed within one month for existing blocks and four months for new blocks from the date of the renovation permit. Upon the completion of renovation works, please remember to inform HDB Branch Office concerned immediately. In addition, you should also avoid carrying out noisy Do-It-Yourself (DIY) household installations during early hours or late at night so as not to cause disturbance to your neighbours.
  10. Its better to see the actual mattress, rest yr head on a pillow and lie on the mattress the way you would at home to test it out. If you are sleeping with a partner, then the 2 of you better test it out together Besides the firmness, the material is important as well.. these days they come in so many types .. foam, latex, spring, coil, air etc .. if you are not going to sleep in a AC room most of the time, then a 100% latex mattress might be warm for you. Also, there is the height of the mattresses. Some mattresses are slightly higher than the others, so you might want to take note esp when buying the bed sheets. King Koil for instance, have some mattresses which are higher, so you might need to get bedsheets from King Koil or some other brands which carry this kind of measurements. Its not really a biggie, just narrowing down the choices of bedsheets you can get maybe? Another thing is the warranty. Some offer 10 yrs, 15 yrs, 20 yrs. Recently I went to Seahorse mattresses @ compass point, the guy told me their mattresses and bed frames do not carry warranty WTH right... I said then what happens if I get 'damaged goods' upon delivery? He cannot answer me.
  11. hahaha I went to their website a couple of times, they just change the dates of the sale, and you're right, seems like forever on sale I've bought almost everything except a dresser maybe and looking for a white one. Am resisting to buy Ikea one tho if there is no other choice, I shall succumb.

  13. Hi Aron Would you kindly quote me for Mitsubishi Star Mex System 3 (9k btu each)? I think the compressor will be 'hanging' outside the master bedroom (no aircon ledge), need brackets? Appreciate yr help! Thanks!
  14. Hi guys, I was given a quote of SGD970 to:- Design, fabricate & install tinted bronze/black mirror feature wall using plywood in high pressure laminate finish. Measurement: 2100 mm (L) x 1650 mm (H) I am not sure if this is a reasonable price to pay and if anyone could help me out here, I would be most grateful... thanks a mil!
  15. Hi The kitchen wall tiles of the resale flat which I just bought are quite outdated and I wanted to cover this with tempered glass. I was quoted S$998 for "Supply labour & materials to fabricate 5mm thk tempered glass backing, Measurement: 5700mm (L) x 750mm (H)" Does anyone here able to advise me if this is a reasonable quote? :S To add: the ID said this is 'spray paint tempered glass' so it's more expensive ?
