  1. OIC! Hehe...welcome to our little circle of new Tanglin Halt residents!
  2. I was at the estate yesterday and I saw something strange; some of the flats in Blk 90 had their windows opened, and there were ceilings' lights installed and switched on! But Blk 90 and 91 are still being cordoned off leh...are those units I saw, showflats or something?
  3. 5rm, 110sqm, $358k, excluding all rebates. Bought through SERS...
  4. Are you talking about me?? Ya, its finally TOMORROW!! Tonite cannot sleep man... Will take pics and let you all see...but it will be one of the many typical unrenovated, unfurnished flats that you all already seen in this forum many times liaoz... But what the h**k - I will be post in the blog soon!
  5. Hmmz, ok I see what you meant - actually the hole cut is the same for both the deadbolt and handle, but I can't answer you on the part of the scratches liao...hehe Anyway if you are keen to get the bioaxxis one, do also check the exact dimensions of your "deadbolt"; otherwise will also be able to see the scratch marks too...
  6. Yup, this is exactly what I meant: Deadbolt Handle (I believe this is not a lock but just a handle, right?) If I am not wrong, the "deadbolt" and the "handle" are not connected to each other. Thus, you can replace the "handle" with the e6098 biometric lock, and leave the "deadbolt" on top as it is. The "deadbolt" can be used for added security when you go overseas. During normal times, just leave it unlocked lor.
  7. =============== Tanglin Halt New Estate Blk 89 prata zirhk3355 Blk 90 Blk 91 bellyheng jule predaking vineyard TYM jasz_24 =============== Hi hi JC! Added your name above - wow, really alot of you from Blk 91 hor...
  8. Which is why you commit to a unit at Tanglin Halt even though its high price? Actually same for me also, hehe... Facilities, interior layout, external facade, etc are not very stable forms of value in context of the resale prices. Today they have such flats in Punggol, tomorrow they can have the same in Jurong, Tampines, etc or even better. Eg last time people used to think that maisonettes are very expensive and not worth, but when the govt stop building it, suddenly the prices go up. But now got this 5-rm maisonette/loft, I think the value will drop again. But for location, it will always be a plus point no matter what happens, especially if you are talking about proximity to prime districts. Unless the govt suddenly decides to shift the whole CBD and Orchard Road to woodlands or jurong, which is quite impossible! Other location-related values are like near to MRT, eatery, open view, etc are also more stable and seldom have drastic changes over a few years.
  9. Can lah, who says cannot take photos? Just bring your friends, ask them to poise and you take lor! All those above places I had taken photos before, cuz I brought my overseas guests there. Another place is the TCC cafe at centrepoint, which is at the newly-built extended basement. Also very lounge-like...sure can take photos also...
  10. Then the actual area should be 111sqm lor, where got 142sqm. Think there's another forummer here also kana hoodwinked into thinking her 4-rm flat is 90sqm, but actually the 'interior' area is 85sqm only. 90sqm is inclusive of the thickness of the wall, or they say 'external area'...*pengz* How to trust HDB like that...
  11. Wah, you are a cheongster is it?? Hehe... The best reference you can find is to go to a ACTUAL lounge/pub lor. Inspirations...hmmz, here's some humble suggestions from a cheongster himself: 1. St James' Power Station (Bellini Room, Movida and those KTV rooms above Dragonfly. Note: Dragonfly is NOT a good reference...hee, at least IMO lah...) 2. Red Dot Museum (old traffic police station at maxwell; there are three lounges there, all very modern) 3. Amara Hotel's lobby lounge @ 1st level 4. Oriental Hotel's lounge @ 4th level 5. Swissotel Hotel (New Asian Bar, City Space and Equinox @ 77th level) 6. Clarke Quay (Kandi Bar, The Clinic, Fashion Bar; even MOS also can, the White Room is very chic) 7. M Hotel (A small lobby lounge @ 1st Level, J Bar @ 9th level. There is also one thing you must go see is the frontdesk and conceige at the ground floor. Slated counter using translucent tortoise's back acrylic, with backlight. Can be made into a modern-looking bartop...) I will update if I can think of more!!
  12. Oh, you mean you have two locks on the door, one lock with handle and one lock (I supposed) is a deadbolt, akin the bioaxxis one? Well, you can replace the lock with the handle and leave the deadbolt alone. The latter can serve as an additional security when you are going on long holiday or something.
  13. Ya, even if compare new flats, those in prime areas can go up to $400+; so at $380K is quite ok lah. But take note that the internal area is only 111sqm; its strange that HDB actually counted the void area as part of our space, unless you are allowed to build a platform on the void...??
  14. Why do you still want to keep the original HDB lock? You can replace it with this e6098 mah.
  15. About the toilet part: If we do not let the workers use our toilets, then where would they go? My only grouse is that they better make sure they clean up lor, same for ciggrette butts, food packets and all.
  16. That one is quite ex right, if I am not wrong. Also does not have an option to open using a key.
  17. Hi, do you mean that this deadbolt one is $500+?
  18. Hi Lukecas Prata's post strike an idea. Why not you organise a meeting at the shop so that we can all decide on the spot? Or post the full details of the shop, person-in-charge, etc for us to go on our own to test the item? Otherwise, its very difficult for you to be relying the answers from the supplier - arrange for us to go there and ask all the questions by ourselves lor, less tedious for you.
  19. Yup, had gotten my keys already, but can only open door on 3rd Apr'07. However, we tried our luck exploring the place for contractors working on our neighbour units, and managed to find another unit with the same floorplan above us, whose owner was kind enough to let us view the place. Found that although the living room is quite big, the rooms and kitchen are really small. Too bad I did not have my camera with me and do not have any pics for you guys to see...
  20. Huh, but the place will be totally BARE leh - cement floor, no aircon, no sofa, etc. Then everyone will have to bring their own stuff (including chairs!), somemore with all the construction works going on, how to BBQ?? I think end up nobody will come lah. I would prefer to entertain all of you when the reno is done... But anyway, that would probably be once-off or maybe once in awhile; for our usual weekly gathering, I would recommend a nice outdoor seating kopitiam, eg the upcoming eating house at the new MSCP would be ideal. Maybe for now we can gather at the Tanglin Halt market or hawker centre?
  21. Actually if we are always using the finger to touch the glass and there is a cover over it, why would it have scratches?? Unless you scratch it with your nails on purpose...
  22. That will be tomorrow. But I can only open the door on 3rd Apr'07!! Arghh... Hey, I think its time we organise a meetup right... As per experience with other forums, meetups always have to start small; eg 2 to 3 guys just sit to drink kopi on a weekly basis. Same day, same time at the same place. No obligations, stay for 10mins or 3 hrs, up to you. Come every week or once a month, also up to you. As it becomes a regular event, every week someone will be there, so new guys will know where to find us and just come and join in. Neo maybe you can start something like that using the yahoo group - group buys, exchanging of notes/pointers, etc will be more efficient when deal face-to-face.
  23. What is a wireless door viewer? Why not just install a mini camera on the door viewer's hole and a CCTV on top of the door, I think about the same price also, maybe lesser if excluding installation. Sim Lim square has alot of such cameras...
  24. Hi, does this run on batteries? Any indicator when the batt is low? Still can use keys to open if it fails, right?
  25. Sorry if I sounded like downplaying your concerns, but having dealt with such stat boards often, I know how they can taiji all the way if you do not have a good reason for your demands. Just offering my 2 cents' worth as to how you can get them to give you what you want... !! If this is the case, then perhaps you might like to investigate further into details as to how your friends had gotten the HDB to re-erect the walls for them, and use the same reason/s that your friends might as given to HDB. Give them a preceding case and they cannot run or give any excuse as to why they dowan to do it for you this time. Good luck!
