  1. No problem albt. We only look at the workmanship lah..haha. Hey so far all the neighbours are pretty nice, most of them came talk to me or my con. But got one frustrated ang mo neighbour came knocking on the door last fri ard 7pm thinking that my contractor and his workers are still working cos one of the upstairs neighbour were having a reno too...knocking and hammering at that hour! Heard from my con that is actually HDB sending their own worker doing some work on the roof...not sure.

For any other items we bought, we are more than happy to share Also, if any forumners whom like to know where this shop is, we will share too. Clue: is not difficult to tell from my pic. Just talk nicely to the boss, I'm v sure he will give good discount plus his shown price tag(before discount) was one of e best in geylang.

  8. 5th May 2012 Today went to our place, no progress at all...probably due to weekend. Contractor having fever too. Well, time for him to rest. So me and wife went shopping at geylang. The following are our loot for the day... For MBT: sink are display set and last piece, rest of the items are brand new though.
  9. 4th May 2012 continues.... Common bathroom wall cemented. MBT floor with what i assume a layer of water proofing..
  10. 4th May 2012 When i reach the place during late evening, new pile of sand already sitting in the kitchen and probably half was used. Common bathroom wall and entrance had already cemented and MBT floor had what seems like a ayer of darker paint?...i'm guessing that was the water proofing layer..
  11. Morgan, thanks for the time to explain things here.
  12. Your house is beautiful I must say.
  13. Alb, i'm v happy this system will be put into good use again.
  14. 3rd May 2012 continues.... Common bathroom, notice the wall haven't been cement cos run out of sand. One huge pile of sand only enough for the master bedroom bathroom! Con will order more sand as this type of sand is specially for wall of bathroom...he mention is some kind of river sand which is more sticky. Kitchen not much, only certain area are cement.
  15. 3rd May 2012 continues.... Contractor told me that the wall inside the bathroom must cement properly as nowadays many bigger reno firm skip this procedure to save cost on cement and sand inorder to meet client's quote. I notice some of the other forum member when they show the pics taken during the tiling, the wall does not cement at all. Con mention that if this procedure are skip, this will result in future popping and cracking of tiles and also the grout line will be v wide cos the tiler if close up the space inbetween tiles, the uneveness of tiles will be shown v obviously which tiler is trying to avoid. This cost saving trick will result in few thousand dollars saving but in longer run will be disastrous to the homeowner.
  16. 3rd May 2012 continues.... V happy and satisfied that all the left over system wardrobe has been taken down cos i need to give them away, so as not to waste...this has been on my mind for awhile.. My contractor told me this tiny portion of wall has also been hacked away and make good, else i totally didn't noticed its existence at all. This tiny wall used to hold the entrance of the WIW.
  17. 3rd May 2012 I went up the place during evening and tiles were already there...
  18. Albt, just put your pics over here. No problem for me at all, afterall we are sharing and learning.
  19. hey your kitchen looks awesome!!
  20. Hey u should go for something u really love. Try to talk to more supplier to see what they think....afterall we are not so expert in this area. I felt our home should reflect our character, lifestyle and the way we wants to live it cos afterall u may stay there for v long. My contractor mention to me....investing on timber floor is like investing on wine...u must learn to appreciate them.
  21. Hi, the photos taken doesn't do the actual tiles any justice...the color looks kindda off. Wall tiles for the bath room suppose to be beige and floor tiles much darker. As for the kitchen floor tile are slightly lighter than the pic show. Need to see the whole piece than u can see the result But really thanks for the advise...hang on...lets see the what will become next...we are eager for the result too Oh the white oak if u choose water base finishing is not so yellowish, the supplier did a test on this.
  22. Albert, thanks for the info!! Will go look see look see.
  23. Hi fishponder, thanks for the advise. We too had been thinking of the termite and humidity problem for a very long time...almost two months. And we had a few time a very long discussion with the supplier whom are very expert in wood and timber. Even meet the supplier at our house to look at the floor and further discuss, we are convinced that higher floor would be lesser risk for termites but of cos there are no 100% sure. In the end me and wife came to a conclusion we are going for something we love. Hey i appreciate ur advise though.
  24. 23 April 2012 Meet up with my contractor we went to select tiles....the following are what we have chosen for both our bath room and kitchen...thanks to wifey and contractor For both Bath room (pics were taken outdoor but with dark sky): For Kitchen (pics were taken outdoor but with dark sky):
  25. Rewind.... Still struggling between Burmese teak and white oak due to budget....darker tone is Burmese teak, lighter tone is white oak. Taken during the first few days of Reno, testing on the white oak the durability of the glue. At this stage, we still have not decide on which timber to use for the floor.
