  1. Try to do it like you've suggested, but usually it look messy...... I think that better idea will be to cut the elastic to make it shorter - then the sheet will be tighter (but make sure to not cut too much otherwise you will be not able to put the sheet on the mattress. Other solution which I will suggest is to fold about 6 inches from the edge of the bed sheet and sew then all around the sheet. That will make that thickness will be 8 inches which is perfect for your mattress (2 inches extra will go under the mattress).
  2. This is already fifth post with the same answer regarding the same company Gradient Wood...... it becomes really cheap to advertise yourself thru this Forum, isn't it? So, to repeat again - this bolded above is quite suspicious bcos you blitz89 asked just a one week before this post if someone know something about this company Gradient Wood because you are "looking for reliable carpenters to build my cabinets for my new house that I'm getting the keys soon" http://www.renotalk....showtopic=58575 . So, 30 January you are asking for some recomendations of that company and already 08 February you had your house done up by them.......wooooooow ! ! ! ! Please, stop cheat people around and advertise yourself !
  3. What I really hate at this Forum is when people around are advertising themselves with false recommendations so will just copy-paste my answer from few other topics: This bolded is quite suspicious bcos you blitz89 asked just a one week before this post if someone know something about this company Gradient Wood because you are "looking for reliable carpenters to build my cabinets for my new house that I'm getting the keys soon" http://www.renotalk....showtopic=58575 . 5. Oh, no, another one...... It is so obviously that you are advertising yourself because at the same day (8th February) you have few posts with almost the same content - to praise Gradient Wood. But, what is very very interesting in all of that, just few days before that (31st January) you are asking if someone can give some recommendations for the same company as you are looking for some carpenter around..... http://www.renotalk.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=58575 They must be like Speedy Gonzales as they managed to do your house in almost a one week time! ! Oh, pleeeaaaase.....

  7. Can anybody advise me how much this bookshelf/wardrobe above can be charged from carpenter? Measurements are in CM. I've been quoted S$ 1,280 and I think that is very toooooo much..... I'm quite puzzled becos at this Forum founded that full-height wardrobe (H 8ft, D 2ft) is around 200-220 pfr - and this mine bottom part is a little bit more than 3 ft and is less than 2 ft depth and height is a little bit more than 4 ft, so cannot be counted like an "normal" wardrobe..... And, upper part is quite simple bookshelves, for which I found here are around S$ 150 pfr - but I'm not sure what about a height, what is consired like an standard for that price.... (I've tried to combine something from Ikea, but cannot becos of odd dimensions what I need so anyway will need to adjust it by carpenter - so, at the end it will be not worth it Please, advise me the price. Many thanks in advance
  8. The same with them happened to me. Last year I've sent them drawings of few items (bookshelves/wardrobe, small cabinet, few shelves) and needed to chase them 3 weeks to get quotation - sent 4 reminedrs for my email, call Ms Perlyn (never answered) and SMS her (never replied). Finally, she sent me quotation, but after I needed urgently to go to Europe and I apologise to her about that, promising that I will contact her again when I will come back. Now, I finally wanted to start with all of that work and sent her email again asking for payment and other stuff, but already 2 weeks there is no any reply from Ms Perlyn at all. I'm really tired to wait another few weeks for her reply.... I agreed with all prices she gave me and I don't ask for anything free of charge, so now becomes that I need to beg her to do this job and at the end even pay for it . In the meantime, I found some other people who will do this carpentry work. It is some ID company, but surprisingly they are almost the same in quotation like Ms Perlyn's, just one item is slightly more charged so need to clear it with them why. Hope that I will be so happy with their work that I can recommend them to all of you and post some pics what they will done for me.
  9. I usually informed them by email that I have choose someone else. All of them were so nice and put some effort to come to my place to take measurements, so sending them email to thanks them and informed about my decision is, I think, at least what I can do. And, yes, it is basic courtesy.
  10. Hi Felicia,

The company is "Hot'Seat" http://www.hotseat.com.sg/ , and my contact person was Lawrence Goh 96906932.

    Cheers, Andreja

  11. hi, saw in one of your post for the cushion for bay windows for ur children's room. Can i have the contact? Thanks

  12. Why don't you consider some kitchen wire baskets? Very nice and in high-quality (chrome) you can find at Song Cho (IMM #03, and another one was in Plaza Singapura #04 but I'm not sure if still is after the renovation of mall). I bought mine at Northlink Building (Woodlands), at some shop at street level, facing to main road (I cannot remmember the name of it). I needed some odd size and found it there. It is some kind of DIY shops and many things they have only in catalogues so it's needed to ask for it. If you will go there, you may consider to look at Excel as well, they are in the same complex. Some catalogue of their wire baskets you can see here http://www.excelhw.com.sg/index.php?option=com_flippingbook&view=book&id=23 .
  13. After a lot of searching many shops and workshops around, I found a nice one at Courts. It was 4 years ago and then the price was S$ 599, but I don't think so that today it can be much more. The main reason why I choose that one was that it was the ONLY one I saw with the metal bed support - in ALL other shops the beds I saw were with wooden board under the mattress supported with piece of wood in the middle of the bed (horrible!!). At least, that with metal support looked stable, and it really is (which I can honestly say after 4 years of using it). Name of the bed was Armadio and we bought it at Courts at Upper Bukit Timah, but I saw it at Tampines as well. If you are interested, I can post the photos here......
  14. Depends on how long will be your renovation..... My friend rented condo unit during the renovation of his house. The renovation took almost a year so his family needed some kind of normal living, not hotel staying. As well, maybe you can see an option to move to some service-appartment (depends of size, it is usually fully equipped kitchen + living area, bathroom and 1 or 2 bedrooms) where you can normally cook. Only different against condo is that there you have cleaning service usually 2x weekly. And it is possible for short term rent.
  15. Three years ago I saw at Molecule (Orchard Central) this clock below: (yes, the price is not cheap , but.......if you need it..... ) I measured hour hand (longer) and it was 45 cm from the center up to the end. I'm not so sure if they still have them, but you can print this photo above and go to check there.
