Thanks Neoby! Though we have moved in there are still minor touch up here and there and the house will never be clean for at least 2 weeks, I think. Moving is a tiring process. But now we will start the furnishing and decorating! Excited! Yes it is the same washing machine as yours, it is really noisy that we can hear it from the living room, the bedrooms (when the doors are open). I saw there is one "Sound Off" button.. wonder what is that? Hahaa can i just activate it to make it "silent mode". I should have just top up another 200 to get an Electrolux Washer. Thanks Aya, the washer is sturdy.. it vibrates but it is not shifting position. The only thing that bothers me is the noise when it spins. Other than that, it is okay. If your washer shifts position then you might want to check the legs to see if they are tightened? Oh.. your washer is a combo of washer + dryer? Mine is a different model, it doesn't move by itself, but it has the screeching sound when it spins. During normal washing it is silent. -

We just moved! We just moved in on Saturday and here are some photos. The main entrance. Part of the paint chipped off. The full kitchen view. Laundry area. By the way, this washer is not good. It is really noisy. Bedroom. We just changed to a gold lever lock! I like the combination of gold and grey. -

Thank you tankee! I'm also wondering about this. You see the colour difference because the louvre panels and the two panels below are of different materials. The PVC panels are pure white but the louvre panels are aluminium spray paint. I'm not sure if there is pure white paint for aluminium. Maybe you can try PD Door, they have full louvre and it is white. I already started to see small spots of rust. -

Both toilets. Ya, we can minimise the use of the lock, since there is no one else except two of us. Wow, you have got a sexy bathroom with clear glass door! How come I don't see it in your thread? Maybe too many pages I missed out. Hi Neoby, it is aluminium, but the bottom 2 panels are PVC. The full louvre door might not be practical for bathroom, not sure whether the water will splash from the bottom? My contractor quoted us $400+ but if you get directly from PD door, definitely less than that. Heheh persuade your hubby! -

Hi Kelhy, This is the full view of my bathroom door. I just realised the panels 1 big 1 small. -

Now just the two of us.. we don't have to lock the doors.. haha only if there are guests coming in and out then we have to. LOL Sure, I will take photo when I go up there again. There is also louvre design PD door, but it is full louvre - this one vr expensive, my contractor quoted me $400+. I wanted that initially, then later he showed me one of his clients using half louvre bi-fold, so I got to know this door. Hehee Paiseh.. i don't mean to look for special stuff or want to be different from other people. It just happened that my contractor showed me this door and I like it. -
I'm sure your house will turn out very nice! By the way, what is the flooring you use for your kitchen?

This painting makes people feel peaceful and calm when looking at it. Good buy! I'm so envy many of you buy built-in oven... we don't have such plan to buy a built-in oven because I can't even cook well and also I don't eat cakes haha. Hubby said we can only buy a small oven as long as we can do some simple roast meat. -

It's 300+ if I remembered correctly. How much is a normal bi-fold? Probably 100+? Yah, you are right, I am also worrying about the long term usage of that lock. First I think it will get rusty after sometime and not easy to lock and unluck. 2nd, the lock is noisy, producing tack tack tack sound. My current flat is also using the normal bi-fold door. But it is a different colour one. I felt that the quality is better than the previous white bi-fold door that the door contractor installed. Maybe due to the white colour, it looks vr transparent and light. It's true that I feel the door is going to break open if the wind is too strong. It is spray painted aluminium. -

electronics items usually gets outdated very quickly when new model arrives, that's why always sales sales sales, esp TV haha, this is a good habit, keep it up. You may want to check out if they have new stock or just left display item. Some of the discounted stuff are for display items only. -

Latest Update Few days ago, the window and door contractor installed the wrong bathroom bi-fold door for us. This door is really flimsy and noisy and it felt like a piece of paper. (I have no offense to ppl using this kind of bi-fold doors, maybe it is just mine that has a lousy quality). It was not what we requested for. Told my contractor about this mistake and today, the doors were changed - to the half-louvre bi-fold door, sturdy and good! Why did I choose half-louvre bi-fold doors? I want the bathroom to be properly ventilated even with the doors closed. (We don't want to leave the bathroom doors open when we are sleeping in the room.) With half louvre panels, air can still go through the horizontal slats. I must admit that I am finding excuse to install louvre doors because I just love the design. And the final thing that completes the renovation process - the main gate was installed! Inspired by this. Iron Gate -
Having someone you know to do your reno is not very comfortable. What if the person fails to deliver, it may spoil your relationship/friendship with that person. Previously I wanted to have my reno done by my relative, I did not expect him to quote me cheaper than any other contractor. But during the final few meetings, I received a quotation 50% higher than other quotations I have ever received !! Be patient, you can look for other contractor until you are comfortable with the price

I hope my mom doesn't complain when she uses it. Otherwise she will say I like to buy things which are nice to see but not nice to use. hahah Hahah okok, I will put the before and after so that we can spot the differences. Hi Kelhy, we got this from Harvey Norman at Millenia Walk. The original price was $899 now reduced to $499. Thanks Aya, the sink is a granite sink, or rather we call it composite sink with 70-80% granite. Yeah, I purposely ask the carpenter to extend the L-end so that we can fit in the laundry table which is 120cm behind the sink. Thanks! Yeah, I especially like those with legs, and the ones we saw in Commune and Grafunkt certainly don't match our budget. -

Haha yes, how lucky I have chosen to have it top mount. Part of it also because I think top mount looks nicer for this sink. -

Week 7 30/05/2012 This is the final week of Reno. Chemical cleaning was done on Sunday, and contractor has sent the painters to touch up the painting for the 2nd time. Today some of our furniture will be in and the contractor will send someone to change our main gate. In the mean time, these are some of the latest photos to share. The pendant lamp between bedroom 2 and 3. There are 2 controls for this light in each of the room. The master bathroom sink area. The two hanging bulbs for the laundry area. We bought the wrong light shades!! So i think we will just leave it like that until we find a suitable one. A bit regret to purchase this sink. The water won't flow into the drainage. Leaving small puddles of water around the sink. That's all for the reno updates. It was an exciting but definitely not easy process. There were lots of decision to make and lots of conflict between hubby and me because of our different perspectives on aesthetic and usability issues. But in the end as long as the end product is worth it, we will forget all the trauma we went through to get there. We are now looking forward to moving into the house. -

Hi May, we have already ordered! Yeah I did consider what you mentioned regarding the height. We are thinking to get a slightly higher sofa. In the current flat we are renting, the TV console is the same height as this and the sofa is lower than the sofa we are intending to get, so I hope it will solve the height problem. Then maybe you should move your sofa back a little? Thank you Topsy! Yeah we will just leave it as warm white. The solid surface is already up, but I have not taken any photos yet. -

TV console We have been searching high and low for the ideal TV console. We are not into modern contemporary type of furniture. We want something a bit classic and most importantly - affordable. I also prefer furniture with legs. It gives a spacious feel to the room. GSS - good time to buy stuff! -

Hi ahlipz, compared to glass backsplash, these tiles are much cheaper at $3.50 per piece. We have about 40 - 50 pcs. Well, I havn't cooked in my kitchen yet so not able to tell you whether it is easy to maintain. But the sales person said he has soaked the tiles with sealant and it will be easy for me to wipe/remove stain in future.
