I can fully understand your pain. Lucky my main contractor is a responsible man & does rectify the defects caused by his subcontractors. But my old parents didn't realise how difficult it is to find good contractors & keep complaining about how bad my main contractor is. Renovation is really a pain. The biggest worry is that the contractor will just run away with your money.

Ya and it's quite cheap really only $170+ bought at lifespace concept.

i like the red chair too. How much is it? From Ikea?

A friend will be passing me a purple carpet. I now need two large paintings - one to cover the windows above my bed and one to be placed above the purple sofa. Anyone knows where to get nice paintings below $100-200?? Thanks!!!

Ya me too think it is the best part amongst the renovations. The feature wall actually looks much nicer in reality pity abt the magnum mongo cabinet I bought from heritage. That cost $650 n the veneer along the edge is uneven.

Lucky the apartment comes with okay tile floor. Just need to polish it up.

sorry missed out the kitchen. It's the only part of the house where it's fully complete. Uploaded with ImageShack.us

still alot of work to be done. Scrubbing of all windows, balcony. Black stickering over the blue window frames (so many window panes & balcony panes). Still need window grilles too. alot of moving in to be done. baby stuff to be bought. really really alot of things to be doing. Only unhappy with three things - the first kitchen renovator who increase price without due notice, the tiling contractor (takes too long & inefficient & needs daily watching over) & Heritage (bought over $2700+ worth of items - crap customer service & faulty products) I have no such problems with jerome(recommend from renotalk) - super good attitude whom I ordered fan, hob & hood. Lucky never buy from Heritage. My main contractor is really bad at coordination, messy & weak at keeping the subcontractors in rein (esp the tiling contractor's workers) but he's a honest guy who did finish up the work & come back to rectify defects when told, just that sometimes I have to chase him which is abit tiresome. He charges reasonable & did up those defects himself when his subcontractors fail him. This is a really tiring process but you really learn a lot from it. Alot of forummers here do help a lot & I will hopefully return the favour. I will recommend the following services, if you need them, just pm me or email me llishan@hotmail.com 1. Jerome (or Zero known here in Renotalk)for electrical items such as hob, hood, fan etc 2. Electrician Ah Long 3. Carpenter company by Ah Wu & Ah Lek 4. Henry from Mega Discount Store for household electric items 5. Furniture stores - Lifespace Concept Store, Comfort Furniture & the ever-faithful IKEA Cheers! Louise

Love my wardrobe. My carpenter is good, superb customer service came back to give us another additional board shelve when we asked for it. Only $1400 super worth it when I went to take a look at IKEA about $1400-$1600 but only at 2.5m high. Mine is customised at 3m high. Uploaded with ImageShack.us Baby room stuff all bought from ikea. Do not have time to look see other places. Ikea is good value. Uploaded with ImageShack.us

Heritage is unforgiveable!! Will never buy from Yuki or the shop ever again. I just sent her a photo of the water tap with spots appearing. Her reply is immediate - "you wash acid right? You better check with your contractor this is 100% acid stain". After I refuted her comments, she further argued "Acid stain dun have any warranty, if it is rusty won't become one dot dot..." & "Factory says- from the photo we can see, teh tap are badly damaged by the contractor. We can also see that is installed by inlicense plumber whihc is not approved by BCA. They have also installed silicon to install the tap base." My house is just completed, where got do any acid wash? My contractor is a hdb licensed contractor. Since when BCA approve licensed plumber? I can't be bothered to argue with her. I told her I will send my contractor down to her shop to talk face to face. Totally inexistent customer service. Fully condemn. Had problems with her water tap, shower set & Magnum mongo cabinet. The veneer for the replacment brown cabinet with no handles are not even. Never has she offered to send someone down to take a look, & instead pushed everything to my contractor. If not for the fact that I have no time to bother with these things & I am going to give birth in 3 weeks, she is going to get it from me. Tachipanda, you are just lucky you have no problems with her.

Marble polishing done up yesterday. Everything is ok except for minor touchups like connecting of kitchen sink tap, changing of shower set, putting up mirror & accessories, & the faulty light fittings of fanco fan. I will be going to ikea today to purchase the kivik dansbo lilac sofa & other stuff today. So relieved everything should be coming almost to an end already.

wardrobe is very nice! I'm quite happy with it. kitchen top is finally up, all done except the kitchen tap not installed yet & needs to connect the gas. Really love my hood & hob quite nice leh. My mattress is coming this sat. Next Monday - the electrical goods are coming. Now have to finally go purchase all the outstanding furniture from ikea this Friday. No choice have to purchase the purple sofa - my husband is quite adamant about it, have to make him happy but the red tv console is abit too much. Why don't they come in black - only red & white?
-
no leh, no such thing. she ask me to bring over the shower set that's why I'm so upset with her nonchalent attitude as if i'm giving her alot of trouble like that when it should be the other way round. what shop do you go to - looks good, i shall jot it down for next time *touch wood*
-
will get the contractor to solve it, if really the shower set problem, then go back to yuki loh. today kitchen top mounting, with kitchen sink & tap & master wardrobe setting up. Hopefully no problem after that.
-
both of us are equally inept at this but he's not the hands on technical type more of those studious kind will get kanna chop by all these contractors. Yup, he's the financier.

one experience can scar for life siah, now thinking smart already. buy nicely renovated house or new house only or requires minimal renovations. very scared to go through it one more time. no more!
-
yaloh, stressful dealing with contractors siah but as i said, my main contractor's just messy & disorganised, not too bad at heart. his subcontractors are not too bad, except for the tiling subcontractor who hires 2 china man who are really lazy & delays the works for quite some time, never cleans up the place & washes down the sand/cement water down the drainage pipes in the toilets & clogs up my toilet bowl. never saw the plumber so not too sure. his electrician is very good highly recommended - ah long 9008 7763 (say louise from geylang lor 37 recommend). Very easygoing guy with good rates
-
hai the packaging box already threw away. regret getting my contractor to do this job but then it might have been worse with someone else. at least he is honest (didn't bug me for $$ all the time), though not very service-oriented & organised, his planning is quite messy. i really have no choice given the limited time & resources i have. it is our fault lah we didn't do our homework before that properly.
-
hai my contractor is not the very conscientious type I had to coordinate much of his subcontractors myself. but i can't complain much as i have no other contractor friend (my renovations are so rushed as my baby is almost coming out already) - his rates are ok, he doesn't rip me off & run off with my money like that kane oh renotalk is complaining about. ok will go see tonight.
-
me too :-) llishan@hotmail.com Thanks!

kitchen top & wardrobe guys coming tomorrow. marble polishing the day after. hopefully resolve the leaking shower set & clogged drainage & toilet at maid's room by this couple of days. getting furniture & electricals this weekend. my mum says to officially move in this sun. looking forward to decorate the baby room soon - my pet project!

yaloh i let her off after the magnum case and went back to buy more stuff (sink & tap) to offset the $30 credit just so that not to make things difficult for her. I don't know whether it is her blur or the magnum woman blur. Yuki claimed that the magnum woman didn't tell her that only the white & brown version do not have handles, not the black colour version. I had specifically asked for no handle cabinet because I am going to have a baby & child around next time & the metal handles are very sharp edged. They afterwards claim the black colour version all had metal handles (after they had delivered it & I checked the next day & called up to complain about the wrong delivery) & shamelessly demanded a $80 delivery fee for its replacement to a brown one with no handles (Heritage claimed Magnum is charging them for it but they had to absorb it themselves later on). It was only after I threw a fit that it was only resolved. The sore point was that it seemed to make it like I was the unreasonable one when it was not. The basin cabinet is not cheap at $680 & I had to compromise to change to brown from black which is not as matching in the bathroom. but this shower set thingy is really rubbing me off, esp when she says just bring back the shower set loh without even sounding apologetic about it, especially when she claim this brand is the best in her shop. maybe the earlier magnum case has already left a sour taste in my mouth so I am really pissed this time round. my contractor is installing all the items. because of many delays here & then, we had been rushing this & that job, my mum claim she checked all items but turned out she forgot to check the shower set at the common bathroom. Hai... nothing's going right man. Sorry for the rant but I really detest renovations. Have to work hard to make more money so that I can hire a proper ID designer next time, esp when both of us are so inept.
