hmmm... $8only? But I'm paying $60 to destroy it.

Green Day Tash for destruction, tash for sale and tash for donation. As moving out date is drawing nearer, more and more stuffs need to clear their way. Thanks to LLChing for the suggestion, I'm bring some appliances to Ca$h Converter to get some $$ back. Most items I have never used before, e.g. juicer, food processor etc. All these are given to me as gift during our house warming many years ago and it has been sitting in the storeroom. 2 very huge bags of clothes, going to salvation army. I cleared almost 50% of our clothing, so I can buy new clothes I have tonnes of confidential documents, I think easier about 80kg worth of paper. I called up a few recycling company for help, one says too busy, another too expensive. I was thinking if I sell to garang kuni, I still get some $$ back!!!! Instead I will only be getting a certificate of destruction. I am also recycling the old aircon unit in our new house too. Feel happy for doing something to the environment!

Wow... like hotel entrance... "like" "like" "link" I do have recess area, so 180 degree door should be able to work, but my SO say no to it leh.. I'm thinking of installing digital lock for both the main door and gate, is it unusual?? Most people i read in the forum just install on the main door, but that means still need to carry key to open gate right?? I need to explore that further. Any suggestion?

Your concern is definitely valid, after your posting, I quickly went back to check the brochure for the flooring that I'm using. Out of all the features, 2 of them states "Environmental Friendly" - produced using virgin vinyl as well as recyclable material and "E1" - very low formaldehyde emission, it has been certified under the test standard of EN717-1 for determination of formaldehyde content. And behind the fact sheets, it shows all sort of testing result done. So I guess this one should be quite safe. If you are getting other type of vinyl, then make sure you get the fact sheet as well.

HDB Doors are boring!

Wow... nice! I like this type of door, the best is the 180 degree turn type. I suggested that for our main door, but nobody buy into my idea.

I also like storage tank, but how to convince the other half He thinks that the storage tank takes up too much space and very unsightly! -
LLChing, Actually since now your children are all grown up, can do away with grille right? It can really open up the view.
-
I saw the lock on the window turned rusty... Can just change the lock or change the whole window?
-
I also think can save up the money and leave to Andrew to do some magic. If really don't like it, can also change again.

Your contractor is indeed very good... still need to convince you not to waste money. Can tell he is a very responsible guy!

Floor Selection! A major decision for us! As I have mentioned earlier, we wanted to minimise hacking, so we shall overlay the existing marble flooring. We can overlay with Parquet, tiles, or laminates. We love parquet, having lived with parquet for the past 6 years, we simply just loved it with no regret, we took care of it very well. But ever since the kids came along, scratches, knocks are inevitable, we just closed both eyes!!! At least with the soft flooring, it minimize the impact from their numerous falls. With the new house, we just have to give parquet a miss, any scratches on the floor will definitely make us boil!!! For Tiles, we just don't like the hard and cold surface! Narrow down to just laminates. We have our reservation for laminates, we heard horror story about laminates, how it budge after water seep in, the hollow sound, etc etc.... We source from various flooring company but still not satisfy with it. When we are sourcing from ID firms, one of them suggested Vinyl Flooring, a type of rubber laminates, and it is resistant to scratches and impact, insulate against sound. Sound good!! We research a little bit more on it and decided to give it a go! And since we are leveling up the kitchen, dinning and living area, laying the whole ground floor with vinyl, we have selected the high-end resilient flooring, 100% waterproof... minimising lots of stress and maintenance. We got the sales person to bring down some samples, and we are still discussing with our IDs the colour scheme we are going. But most likely we will go for the Oak Black!!
