  1. Thanks! yup! their homes are so beautiful! =) i'm hoping that mine will turn out as pretty too..
  2. Day 2 Not much works done today. Only our toilet bowls and sinks and showers were dismantled to prepare for tiling works. Photo from K who sends us pictures of whatever is done - real-time updates. The electrical and tiling should start tomorrow onwards. =)
  3. hee what have you bought? i like victorian and country too, but the furniture tend to be more bulky and i kind of think that more space is needed to create that look..haha so scandinavian might be the closest to what i like and what is practical..but i'm not that neat and like colors so that kind of deviate from scandi..i like some elements of industrial too, but not too raw elements though..it's hard to imagine how my place will turn out though i try to stick to scandi.. how's ur reno going? moving in soon? invite us over visit lei.. our wedding is in January and we're in no hurry to move in..i think i can spend a few weekends to clean up the place and move bit by bit..there's still so many things to do and buy over the next few months..i'm horrified by the thought of moving all my things over.. i don't mind cleaning up the place, but moving really..........
  4. Haha..yar, i'm really excited..you should know how difficult it was for us, with all the delays and issues pre-reno. *cross fingers and hopes everything turns out well* =D
  5. hahaha..thanks! really hope it turns out as great.. =)
  6. Hello! PM-ed. It's great to talk to people who have the same taste. I also thought that I like the Scandinavian feel, but as I go along, I realized that there are some industrial and retro elements which I love too. Basically, we did managed to bring together all the elements I like, and it may not be 100% Scandinavian. I'm still struggling to decide if I want to paint my brick wall white! Thank you for your suggestion yesterday! I hope it'll turn out great and as bright and open as I imagined it to be. =)
  7. I paid deposit for tt sofa during one expo fair..haven't choose color..! But probably grey or light brown? Actually decided not to have celing fan de but my place is small, don't look like we've space for standing fans..and I fell in love with haiku, white of course! Cuz suit my theme mah..but price increased and it's really heart pain!! =(
  8. Today was our first day of renovation, and we've got so much done. I received pictures from K once I arrived at work. He told me that he will start at 10, but was already moving the materials up to our place by 930am. Pre-renovation week - Apply for HDB permit to hack walls - Got the permit in 2 days - Confirmed tiles - Activated utilities Day 1 - All sand and tiles are already delivered. - All hacking done with debris cleared. - Toilet plastic partition removed - Toilet door removed. - Prep for brick wall done. for K's efficiency. I dropped by during lunch, and they have already finished hacking the wall, and was about the start clearing the debris and dismantle my toilet partition and doors. When I dropped by in the evening, all debris were cleared and my wall was prep-ed for my bricks! The hacked wall in the MBD to fit my wardrobe. The hacked wall to open up the kitchen. Toilet partition and door removed. My beloved brick wall prep is done. My wooden tiles came. K brought a malay couple over to look at our tiles when I was there during lunch, and they gave me this amazing idea to knock down another wall at the kitchen yard to further 'open up' the kitchen. I was instantaneously taken in by the idea, despite knowing that it would cost quite abit more to hack both walls, add a window, overlay the service yard and make good the wall. The husband came down to see after work and agreed. Greedy me added a cement screed wall in the kitchen to perfect things. It's amazing that my mum and a random stranger has given the best space-planning advice for our renovation! IDs are not always worth the money. K will be helping us to submit another permit tomorrow and do another round of hacking thanks to my fickle-mindedness. Everything seem to fall into place and I think I'm satisfied now. I always felt like something was missing, as we weren't doing anything to our service yard, and that area seemed to be isolated. With this additional works, I think I've pretty much achieved all that I wanted. White brick wall Cement screed wall Black chalk board wall (bomb shelter) Wooden flooring (with tiles) Pure white kitchen Mosaic wall (x2!!) i'm really thankful that things have been going smoothly after all the pre-reno issues. Choosing the right person to do up your place really makes a huge difference to your whole renovation experience.
  9. Very impressive place, though I'm not into the style. Anyway, where did you get the decals for switches!
  10. Really love your place..and you're making me very tempted to add some industrial feel into my place..! And I realized, I got the same sofa and fan as you too.. Thank you for sharing and referring K!
  11. I like your pure white kitchen! I'm getting a pure white one too, hopefully it'll turn out as nice as yours.. =)
  12. thanks happyb! =) i'm crossing my fingers and hoping nothing goes wrong..we will be starting hacking on monday and electrical works soon too..update soon!
  13. Oh and I think that Franc Franc glass table with crooked legs will fit very well as coffee table!
  14. It looks **** nice!! Really! Super love.. =)
  15. i like ur door too! does it come in pure white? shall ask my contractor abt it!
  16. yar i'm looking for something that's taller and slimmer, this one not bad mah..and it's confirm enough for 2 of us! well, see if i can persuade him to get this instead of the huge samsung although it is nicer la.. i'm using it as a sideback not console, against the wall opposite the dining table..i really like this, it's solid and can put all our photo albums!
  17. we've got our hdb permit yesterday, just 2 days after K submitted our application! *weee. i was so happy about it. i love it that K's quick and efficient, cuz i work fast too and working with someone who drags my stuff would drive me crazy.. K has happily informed us that he'll start work and start hacking the walls on Monday. Electrical works will follow. The utilities people will come to activate our electricity and water tomorrow. I'm really impressed by the convenience of activating water and power! When we got our keys, hdb told us that we had to go back to hdb to activate our utilities. but since i'm lazy, i tried to google it and realized that i only need to call. it was a 5-minute call, give details, address, set appointment, then it's done. you just need to be there for an hour slot and they'll send you the utility bill, including deposit needed. fuss free! and because both of us may not be able to visit the site often, and i'm a worry wart, i drew our electrical drawing for K. it's not tt i don't trust him, just that sometimes really will forget or miss out. it's also an easier way to communicate our wants and since the picture is color coded and complete with chinese words, i'm sure the electrician can follow. i did it and the husband vetted it. we changed it quite a few times till we were sure that we did not miss out anything. we should be all ready to go! and now..i feel like my chinese has improved..i know what's pendant lights, cove lights, track lights, downlights in chinese!
  18. i think it's only recently leh! even bodyshop has white brick walls and pendant lights.. but nvm la, i'm bent on my white brick wall..been wanting that since a long time ago.. plus we've many pictures and souvenirs from our travels, so don't think will look like 'restaurant' ba..if look like restaurant also ok la, i like to cook and entertain guests
  19. i'm also super excited about it..! i only remember this new restaurant at Liang Court basement uses wooden tiles with brick walls, can see the gouting..you can drop by audio house for electrical stuff too..some other shops uses laminates, you will notice if you start looking out..
  20. I am looking for a slim-line hood and a induction hob.

It seems like Fujioh and Rinnai hoods are very popular. Could you quote the popular Fujioh and Rinnai models, and also Electrolux? We have an open concept kitchen, and would prefer something that could help us keep the place clean and also easy to open up and clean.

For induction hobs, I would like one ...

  21. yar K did warn us about possible warpage, especially if the tiles used is not perfectly straight..we're already choosing the shorter ones 15x60cm.. i guess it's a trade-off because we were very sure abt wooden looking flooring for the whole house (including kitchen)..we considered parquet for whole house as many european homes have parquet even in kitchen and toilets! but everyone advised against it..then we tried to look for alternatives..bamboo looks nice too but it's expensive and also not recommended for kitchen..laminates is strictly no as i don't like the feel when you step on it..vinyl aka waterproof resilient flooring was also out as it's a click system, so wet mops/spills/leaks/rain may seep below the flooring resulting in mould or smell..moreover, i read that vinyl is 'poisonous', especially for kids crawling on the floor.. so bo bian..we're only left with tiles, but at least they do look pretty real nowadays..we were concerned about grout lines but saw a few restaurants/shops who uses such tiles and find it quite acceptable.. so many shops and restaurants have white brick walls and wooden flooring now! husband says, in that case our home is going to look like shops/restaurants
  22. thank you for sharing my joy! i'm really excited about it too..will take pictures once we start.
  23. go look around more ba..i'm sure u can find something you like and within budget..LUSH LUSH has reasonable prices and some nice stuff too..20% discount now. =p or choose one item to splurge on..for me it's the dining table and sideboard and i buy things according to my 'importance' ranking =)
  24. yup! from grafunkt.. =) i really didn't check the prices, it's my husband who likes it and took a picture of them. coffee table at the back of my list due to budget constraints.. =p the bench was 1.8k..so based on their prices, i guess it should be ard 1k or more. =_=" got 30% discount if u buy like 3k if i rem correctly..
  25. nono.. the sideboard is 2199, table is 1429. whole set, table with chairs are about 3k plus.. they've some discounts for GSS now..if u get the table set, you get the sideboard at 1199. and probably 5%-10% discount depending on how much you buy i guess..
