  1. For folks that have not build the top kitchen cabinet, get your contractor or ID to design the light in the cabinet so it can light below the top cabinet and light the internal of the top cabinet.
  2. Strictly speaking the workmanship is just borderline pass, the carpenter did make some ugly mistakes and those cannot be cover up but I am ok with them so long they charge me cheap cheap. So far i have paid 20k for the reno... Everything in the house are new... new half fire-rated main door and new bedroom door with door frame, new white powder coated windows, grille and gate, new floor and wall tiles, plaster for whole house, 3 coats of nippon odourless easy wash, plumbing works (using copper pipe and design the piping to increase water pressure), electrical works (13 lighting points, 4 Cat6 network points, 3 SCV points, 2 telephone points, 20 double gang power sockets), carpentry works (shoe cabinet (similar to XTR but without mirror), full height 6-doors storage unit back to back with 6-doors L shape WIW, another full height storage unit to house the DB, comm equipments, me and wifey daily barang barang, left and right kitchen cabinets with CaesarStone quartz counter top). Every drawer can hold up to 65kg of kitchenware, inner drawer included. At work now, get you the measurement for top and bottom kitchen cabinet after work.
  3. Hettich is German technology, their standard drawer is build better than Blum. Blum has better inner drawer and better cutlery compartment (orga-line). So far so good, no fixing problem at all. According to my carpenter, they order both Hettich and Blum in bulk. If you ask me comparing Hettich to Blum, i really dont know about their price. I just want better quality and I can get replacement if any of the hardware gets faulty years down the road.
  4. If you have house warming, remember to invite me, i will get you my secret weapon, you will be very happy using it.
  5. I stay on 4th floor, water pressure is great cos my plumber design the piping to increase the water pressure. This is a very rush reno, started on 12 March, we moved in on 16 April, quartz counter top delivered on 20 April (the delay were caused by SilesStone out of stock, last minute change to CaesarStone).
  6. All the hardware parts (hinges, lift-up, inner drawers, standard drawers) in the cabinets are using a mixture of Blum and Hettich. Counter-top is using CaesarStone 2141 Fresh White 20mm quartz; too bad SilesStone out of stock for White Zeus Extreme (voted the most white quartz in the world) for 20mm. To date i only paid $20,000 for my reno; pretty sure there is still a balance payment but i still dont know how much.
  7. Conceal piping for shower mixer. Drop instead of curb for bath area. Got this HTPC assembled in Sim Lim Square yesterday afternoon. ]
  8. Hope you all dont mind the messiness... and my lousy photography skill.
  9. Pardon me but this is the first time i heard of 2 burners tac tac tac at the same time, maybe is normal to Technogas, better to check with their technician.
  10. I am using Rinnai RB-2CG, 2 burners, battery ignition. I am using the same method found on this blog to ignite the fire - http://renovation-greencoal.blogspot.com/2008/05/using-rinnai-inner-flame-burner-hob_6584.html 1 - Push down the burner flame knob and gently turn anti-clockwise until you reach resistance i.e. you feel the knob cannot be turned further. That resistance signals the "end" of the knob-turn but do not let go of the knob yet, continuing to pushing it down. 2 - As you continue to push the knob down, turn a bit more anti-clockwise until you meet resistance again. At that point you then turn back the knob in a clockwise direction until you hear a "click" sound. That' a "locking" indication you've turned on the fire successfully.
  11. I only know 1 ang mo neighbor... no worries just explain nicely will do. Frustrated yes but they are not nasty folks.
  12. Lucky me both of you didnt come, paiseh to show you my new place... very messy now as there is a gigantic pile of clothes in the middle of the kitchen cos wifey wants to wash all clothes before packing it into the new WIW. She just finished washing mine, t-shirts, shirts, round neck, collared, long sleeve, short sleeve, no sleeve, pants, bermudas, boxers i think mine alone already more than 80 pieces, still haven count my tie collection, socks... etc. LOL. Need at least 3 months to settle in. Have not order our solid birsh/beech wood computer table, also haven order our Slide dining/bar table (cannot decide to go for dining table or bar table).
  13. My previous place is cement screed... grey feet everyday, cold too especially after mopping cos cement is pores, will experience cracks forming everywhere, some as wide as 3mm. After all cracks have settled, you can lacquer it to seal the cracks and give you the shine or you can reseal all the cracks using pre-mixed cement compound.
  14. Yesterday taken some photographs of the new house with my ancient camera, later going to the color lab to pick up the prints and the converted image files.
  15. 9 years ago when i first renovated the place, i spend $16,000 on reno alone. The WIW was done by my friend, working in OM back then for $1,700.
  16. Kirk... no wonder morganwu say that you are lucky. The cement screed flooring has been sealed with multiple layer of lacquer and all the cracks have settled, dont think it will crack anymore, the cement was mixed with a lot of hardener, not water when it was first done. You may wish to re-lacquer the worn off patch in main bedroom, caused by my chair's botak feet. There were no termite infestation during the 9 years i live there, so no need to worry. Even heavy rain, very seldom the water will pour into the kitchen and main bedroom, maybe some extra care along the corridor area, due to the flat shape, very windy so if heavy rain, water will hit the main door area.
  17. Thanks for offering your blog. Time to find my Kodak camera... remember i saw it when shifting house. What you like to see? Overall or detail? Mine is plain Jane, all white in color.
  18. If you are staying in HDB flat, cannot use 3 zones as it require 30A plug, will trip the DB. You should look for 2 zones which use 15A plug (same power consumption as aircon).
  19. Sorry, I didnt take any before-the-reno photo so not sure if I want to do a reno t-blog. I dont have artistic cell and I am a lousy photographer with a cheap cheap idiot-proof camera.
  20. Really too last minute, if schedule long ago should not last minute change. Know your right and defend it.
  21. I mean on the right side, why all shelves and drawers?
  22. All the various hard wood flooring... http://www.hardwood-timberfloors.com/index.html
