Everything should follow the reno quote you signed, unless otherwise stated separately; even for standard renovation package, there should be stated if haulage is included or excluded, if reno quote did not stated if haulage is excluded, then it should be included. The laying of wall and floor tiles should include the 2 types of sand (水沙&江沙), the cement and plaster compound for grout.

I also prefer C... for ease of cleaning. I'm using C for my flat. -
If the wall plug is metal type, no need for you to pull out, the new owner when renovating will get their contractor to remove it and plaster smooth the wall/ceiling. If you go drill more holes beside the metal wall plug just to loosen it for removal, you may ended up with countless holes, new owner can complain to HDB and you the ex-owner may need to pay for repair.

Not sure whether is norm to charge extra for installation or not... My understanding is when you ask for Blum hardware parts, of cos must come with installation. I would think your carpenter bought the "few-dollars-each" Blum hinges to replace the normal "each-80-cents-made-in-china" hinges and charge your ID, then your ID turn around, mark it up and charge it as installation charge to you. It has been 3 weeks since i moved in to my new house, I am still waiting for my carpenter to come visit me and slap me with the bill for his carpentry works. And there is a balance of $6K from reno quote for main con to collect. I always heard in RenoTalk about contractor or ID chasing customer to pay, my case exactly opposite LOL.

Suddenly i remember her name... Theresa. Creativity - NOT SURE Sexy - 10/10 Pretty - 9/10
-
Cannot remember her name... she is from Rezt & Relax, very young at most early 20s. Can go yum cha if you sign a 50K reno contract with her.

No need to chisel, not careful you might remove the tile if yours is hollow. Stained grout can use green color Scotch-Brite® Heavy Duty Scrub Sponge to scrub away.
-
All gone can re-apply new grout mah. When I am more settle in this new house, i want to scrub away the stained grout and redo using white grouting cement and seal it with a grout sealant.

Lucky you. Mind letting me know how much is your total reno cost? Same here, i got quoted by quite a few famous ID firms too. Almost everyone quoted heavenly price between 50-70K. Looking at some of their quotes, will noticed missing items and those should be hidden cost, others too detail until every small job also charge a fee, the quote added up 120 items, almost 60K. Got a sexy ID even can get her Managing Director to explain to me what seen to be space saving design for them but space wasting design to me, when i test them for real space planning design, both of them only can give me a blank look.

Kirk... my kitchen wall tile is matt white, my bathroom wall tile is gloss white and they are both homogeneous. Got them from White Horse.

This con is not the 2 you previously brought over to visit the place right?

Your contractor/ID never advice you to use turpentine instead of thinner meh? Turpentine is oil-based, can use to wipe away stain on laminated furniture, thinner will damage the surface.

Oh haha... that is Betty, the dog that sit beside us the every first time you came for viewing. She has the whole house to herself when both of us are at work.

Walk In Wardrobe For Wifey
taichipanda replied to garyakw's topic in RENOVATION IDEAS: Interior Design Themes, Space Planning
Use the bedroom next to the main bedroom as WIW cum dressing room, simply move your main bedroom door to just before the common bathroom/WC door. There is no need to hack the wall. -
Thanks. On the opposite side of the deep big hole is a bar cabinet on top, it was done by the partition subcon. There are 2 double gang power sockets, 1 SCV point and 1 Network point in the big hole, there is a cable management conduit build into the wall behind the 55" TV. Neat hor? Not a fancy feature wall at all.

Unlikely to be less than 30K cos reno quote from my friend is already 26K, still have not include carpentry works and the 16 feet of premium CaesaeStone quartz counter top. LOL.

White powder coated for louver windows and grills. Just remember anything made of aluminum can be powder coated.

Best size of tile for toilet is 300X300... if use above 300X600, the gradient slope is very difficult to achieve on the longer side and the corner can prove to be more danger for bare footed. Pretty sure the master tiler will use the shorter side to create the gradient slope. The tiler that did my place is also a master tiler with 20+ years experience under his belt.
-
There is gradient slope build into the flooring of my toilet, dry area and bath area so water will flow toward the water trapper. Due to the drop for the bath area, my tiler build a separate water trapper to route the water to the main water trapper. I made a mistake to install the 2-tiers glass shelve on the right hand side of the wall, it suppose to be at the left hand side so i can put a shower curtain on the right wall instead. No worries, although i shower the water gets splash into the dry area. Really if you folks see the size of my toilet, dry and bath area you will surely wander how a hippo fit into that area. If not for my phobia of glass, my designer friend will build my toilet and dry area as an open concept with big panel of frosted glass with sliding door.
