  1. So you are here Mine is district 16 too. Hoping to see your pics soon.
  2. 30 storey! That's a big terrace Enjoy the Reno. you'll love it
  3. Day 13 (17 Aug 2012) Looks like a screw up between ID and ceiling contractor. In the living room, we were supposed to have cove lights which point inwards towards I ceiling fan. But the result is now like this, ie cove lights pointing outwards... Before I ask them to tear down and redo, I need some opinion...is this better or inner cove better? I somehow seems to find that the "wrong" one may be better...Hahaha...maybe the workers' hands were guided by God.
  4. Do they take off the shoes before entering your house? Do they hand carry all your stuff in the house vs using a trolley inside?
  5. Awning? If yoy referring to the last pic, that's my skylight in the toilet. Hahahaa. The pipe pointing down is supposed to be for the rain shower head. Thereafter false ceiling will conceal the sides, leaving only the centre piece of clear glass above my head as I shower. No peeping please. Hahahaa
  6. Project window extension. Now I know why developers like to use bay windows to give you a false illusion of a bigger room. The room does indeed feels bigger! Hahahha
  7. Day 12 (16 Aug 2012) Lots of things happening today. The pest control guys came and injected the termite treatments. Finally tiling for floor can start already. False ceiling guys also came and started working on the living area. The window extension project also went ahead with the tiler plastering and smoothing that area. Meanwhile tiling continues. I must confirm the waterproofing contractor fast. Was raining this afternoon and my 3rd floor toilet looked like a waterfall. Hahah False ceiling wip Sneak preview of 2nd floor toilet Sneak preview of 3rd floor toilet
  8. I made a mistake when starting the Reno. I tried to be prudent by having a list of things that we will reuse existing. However end up we start getting rid of them along the way. That's how I ended up with a 30k VO. You know, it is hard to resist when you start to see the newer and better stuff and you think of the old ones back home.....You get my point lah. lol So you either have rock iron discipline or specify everything you want to do in the package. Dunn forget that a VO works both ways, ie you can also ask to take out things you dun intend to do after signing the contract.
  9. All I can say is budget prudently because there will definitely be VOs during the course of your reno. I started with a reno quote of 70k and is now looking at a VO fast approaching 30k!
  10. Hacking will cost you alot.
  11. My IDs probably didn't think I'd visit the site since it's so late already. Dudes, if you are reading this, I'd like to let you know that I visit the site everyday, no matter how late. And I keep a torch in my car for this purpose. I supposed tough luck you had me for a client
  12. If you need an ID, i can recommend you mine. I am quite happy with them so far other than the occasional forgetfulness.
  13. Day 11 (15 Aug 2012) Tiling for the second and third floor toilets started today. They have also ripped out the window that I wanted to shift out. Now I must say that I was pretty unhappy with my ID over this. When they apps me the picture, I'd reminded them to cover up the hole. They assured me that it was done. But when I checked later at night, the hole where the window used to be, wasn't covered at all! If it rains, my parquet and wardrobe will be gone. Apps my ID and he said he overlooked that. He said he will get the worker to cover up tomorrow and I'd reminded him to pray for no rain tonight. Otherwise I will be getting new parquet and wardrobe for free. Hahahaa...
  14. Day 10 (14 Aug) Not much happening today. Tiling continues. Level 1 toilet tiling looks complete already. Aircon guys also came and fixed up the pipings. Another waterproofing contractor came down to do his assessment. This one was recommended by a fellow forummer. We went to look at Amasco LED downlights in the evening. They seem to be selling at quite a reasonable price. Anyone has any feedback on those?
  15. The world of contractors is so strange. For my roofing issues, I have seen 4 contractors and all 4 gave me very different ways to resolve the issue. What is worse is that all 4 said the other contractor's recommendation is bull and won't work. Hahahaha.....who to believe???
  16. How much did the landscaping cost you?
  17. While measuring the length of the tile, the tip of the measuring tape got stuck in the gap. When I yanked it out, I chipped off a small piece of the tile. Argh!!! No choice have to ask the tiler to redo that piece already. So paiseh.
  18. Day 9 (13 Aug 2012) Finally they have started to lay the tiles today! So exciting that finally I am seeing some beauty amidst all the sand and concrete.
  19. Need some advice on my electrical plan. I wonder if there's too many lights.
  20. Bought dining lights today. It was love at first sight for both wife and me
  21. Can PM me your roofing contractor? Like to get another quote for my roofing issues too.
  22. For my case I'd already onto close to 100k for renovation alone. Hacking and haulage probably contributed 30%!
  23. Day 8 (11 Aug 2012) Nothing much was done today it seems. When I visited the site, nobody was around. However all the water pipings and points are up already. Storage heaters have also been installed already. Went shopping today and bought a Fanco ceiling fan for the living room.
