  3. Is your place opennet ready? If yes, no issues on point a. Your plan looks ok to me My quote was $100 per point(inclusive of termination at patch panel & port end), I bought my own cat6 network wallpanel(AMP) costs less than $10 each from LHS & my 12 ports cat6 patch panel about $50 bought off Amazon.

  7. Picture speaks a thousand words, in case it gets a bit lengthly. This is my final layout for my networking routes. From P1 to P7, linked back to my Server Hub in my study room. All points laid with AMP Cat6 unshielded cables under my flooring & concealed via wall. 3 points in living, 2 points in study & 1 point each in Bd2 & master. At the server hub, installed 1x 12 ports Cat6 patch panel with all 7 points connected. P1 @sever hub will be connected to my gigabit router and further routed to my 1x 16 ports gigabit switch for distribution. P1 also acts as future network access route for Opennet Fibre as my house not ready yet. (Do note that I had installed 2 gang power socket at P1 for modem) Current: Singnet ADSL/Starhub->P1@living->P1@serverhub->gigabit router->16 ports gigabit switch->Server Hub patch panel(6 points) Future: Opennet Fibre->P1@living->P1@serverhub->gigabit router->16 ports gigabit switch->Server Hub patch panel(6 points) Back to 16 ports gigabit switch, remaining ports will be taken by 3 NAS, PS3, media player, Smart TV and hifi console. As such, I'm left with 2 ports as spare. In the living room, 2 points at tv console area. 1 point directly to my 65" plasma Tv & 1 point to 1x 5 ports gigabit switch hidden in my console. 4 ports distributed to 1) Onkyo AVR, 2) Dune HD Media player 3) Oppo 93 & 4) as spare As per your qns on how many points? No ans to that as what you want to do with it. Best to go for 2 points always, the more the merrier! Yes, you can get a gigabit switch and further distributes the bandwidth. To close up on why I installed a patch panel, I can utilises it as telephone access points in future with 5 spare ports in hand. :sport-smiley-018:

  15. Yes, the contractor can do that, no worries in fact, as they do have a equipment to pull through the trunking at ease. I had seen it before, because my contractor had lay the trunking before they lay my speakers wires in my living room.
  16. You can try LHS by giving them a call. You can find the convertor or adaptor at any stores in Sim Lim Tower/Square. Yes, 2 hdmi to hook between your devices to tv.
  17. 1st, What are the available audio outputs that your Samsung tv has? Coaxial(this is out as you mentioned no RCA), Toslink(provided your Zikmu parrot has).Assumed that Samsung has Toslink & Zikmu has RCA, you can buy toslink to RCA convertor to hook them. Also, if the suggestion works, all sounds from tv will output to your Zikmu. You just need to hook up your bluray player & scv box to your Samsung tv directly via hdmi. Graphic & sound will be transmitted & passthrough via your tv. Do note that you should set your tv's volume to zero to avoid double sound output.

  24. In fact my console is movable, will put 3M slider below my console. Just that I asked my carpenter to create false wall right behind my console, so when I pushed in, it will sit nicely below my tv.Aside on tray type, not recommended on console, because of vibration etc, those into hifi will avoid that. Good that your wife can bring back for you issues will be Amazon/3rd party vendor can delivers the product to your wife on time. Unless your wife will be stationed there for good 1 month or so :dribble: Shopping time! :notti: You mean my cable as in the brand itself? If yes, it is expensive if buy in loose form. I bought 1 box of AMP Cat6 from vendor directly to run my house networking.I measured every locations which required cable and used the remaining balances from my run-up of house network, went to LHS to ask them crimp it for me with Cat6 network jack. Paid $4 per cable(including 2 side jack & servicing) irregardless of length. If you are interested, just bring the whole bundle length there, they will cut for you. Save the hassle For my case, 24 cables required, total length about 98feets, passed 110feets to them for the job in case any errors occured. :good: Good workmanship! No loose ends, closely held each jack. In fact, I tested each cable using network cable tester to make sure it passed
