  1. Palermo was on sale couple of months back...oops...but each dept store (i.e. Robinsons, taka etc) may have a set that is on sale only for them...tangs n robinsons raffles city have the biggest range... Good luck!
  2. Wmf has sales locally every 3-4 mths. I've not seen this before locally, I pick cutlery based on the size of the dinner spoon. Too big, can't fit into everyone's mouth...LOL The other thing is the made in Germany ones r the more expensive sets - they r also heavier and feel more solid. Up to ur preference, but I like the heavier feel. Unfortunately, made in Germany sets hardly go on sale...😆
  3. Kim,u dun blame kim sao lah....u like to shop n buy! Lol...
  4. bump...it's a 3rd gen one since the box indicates 1080p...
  5. if totts got, that means sia huat will have...and will b cheaper...
  6. item is here: http://store.apple.com/sg/ipod/ipod-accessories/apple-tv BNIB, sealed box selling for $120...pm me if interested...
  7. i think it's the only dept store i know of that the sale applies to the cosmetics section...otherwise for homeware stuff, robinson's could still be better...but taka has a better range of dinnerware than robinson's...
  8. 500 including possible replacements mah... i haven't finished replacing all my hangers yet, been a bit slow, but my rough estimate is that i will use about 300 of them... my carpet also from taobao...again, all my tb purchases are on kim's t-blog...u can go take a look...best is u order carpet, hangers etc all together and ship in via someone like amcon...cheaper...
  9. ticking sound - i can only hear the tick-tick when i put my ear about 1" away from the mechanism at the back of the clock ... so it is indeed very quiet...
  10. similar clothes hangers i got from tb - u need to check kim76's t-blog cos i'm too lazy to scroll thru there...shipped in via amcon...i think i brought in 500pcs.. cost wise is like S$0.3/hanger including shipping, plus got many many different colours...quality is quite good, sturdy... someone wants to ship something in via tb - u all can combine...
  11. pay kim to do it for u...oh wait, i think he'll do it if u cook him a nice dinner... p.s. we can "bully" him now cos he's on vacation...wait til he comes back...
  12. actually hor, no need very powderful chinese leh...juz order the item u want, pay using your CC, specify u want him to ship via shunfeng express (顺风), delivery COD (货到付费) and wait...
  13. Tonight I go home n listen again n c if I can find something similar to benchmark to... btw, point to note, their production time is long cos it's made to order n handcrafted so it took him about 20+ days to ship out to me...the second hand was slightly bent towards surface of the clock, despite all the careful packing...I just carefully adjusted it myself n it's fine... Ya, I also scared of it falling off n m tending to getting a hole drilled...
  14. ticking is not loud...how to say ? confirmed not the loud tick tick in the cheaper clocks lah... btw, the seller told me it's not possible to fit the continuous movement onto this one cos of the size but as he said, it's not that loud... ya, this clock not cheap but cannot find similar one in SG ... so i gave up ...
  15. rough rule of thumb: - each item must be <20 pounds in weight - amazon global eligible i.e. sold by amazon, not a 3rd party seller - total order >usd125 - check for restrictions here and elsewhere on the amazon site: http://www.amazon.com/gp/feature.html?docId=1001120111 during checkout, if for some reason, your order doesn't qualify for free shipping, ask an amazon cso to verify for you...
  16. uhhh, for bedsheets etc, cos it's next to my skin, i prefer to go and touch and feel so i buy these at the store....
  17. for all of you online shoppers, i found the following lifehacker article useful for making sure you get the best prices and the coupons you need to get the most bang for your buck...happy shopping http://lifehacker.com/5978851/how-to-automate-your-discounts-and-always-get-the-best-price
  18. finally, i got my clock ! Taobao store I arranged for the seller to ship direct without going through a freight forwarder, about SGD41 in total, COD...well-wrapped by the seller and shipper... Undoing the outside wrapping The clock is encased by plastic foam, custom cut to its shape...and the cutout for the needles to prevent damage.. First look at my beautiful clock - handcarved from 红木 (redwood)...a hook is provided for the clock but i'm planning to use a 3M hook...it weighs roughly 1.5kg, very solid feel...the finish is smooth and sanded well... close up of the wood grain...the mechanism is not very noisy although it's not one of those continuous movement type... all in all, beautiful clock - a bit expensive including the shipping fee but definitely a one of a kind type...
  19. lol, i use a tefal one - mine heats up pretty fast tho... but mine comes with a temperature dial - most of them only comes with pre-set stuff like toast etc...not many brands' toaster ovens allow temperature selection, btw...
  20. I use a small toaster oven instead of a built-in version cos I wanted more counter top space n I cook 1-3 times a week... it's good enuf for 1-2 person meals, imo... I like baking fish, asparagus etc as I find the taste n nutrition is better preserved n definitely less messy to clean up...
  21. i have the small one...here are the pix...as kim rightly points out, this size is good for <=4 people...
  22. lol...friend told me before he knows of someone who custom made something like this but for his cake mixer into the island...money was not an object for the guy, obviously...
  23. that's y in the end i opted to buy all my sanitary fittings locally, even tho i knew how cheap tb was...i wanted the peace of mind here, even tho my ID did comment that for taps, quite hard to break lah when i asked him if i should buy from tb or not... the hansgrohe guys at the mohamed sultan side are very helpful, won't hurt to ask if they know when the next sale is going to be...
  24. no, i meant seeing the real thing and then, based on what you've seen, judge for yourself if the item offered on tb is real and what are the possible things that can go wrong if it breaks etc....
