  1. YES Electrical Supply 22 Jalan Serampang, Taman Pelangi, 80050 Johor Bahru. Opens 8am to 5pm Mondays to Fridays, till 1pm on Saturdays. Phone: 07-3339900
  2. The thick-lined rectangle drawn just underneath your dining table might be a RC column. You will need to get hold of the structural plan or get a structural engineer to ascertain. If it is indeed a RC column, then it is a main structural member and you cannot hack it. The line joining this RC column (probably?) and to its right, the walls of the Household Shelter, is thinner. This line is very likely just demarcating brickwalls. If it is indeed brickwalls, then you can apply for a permit from HDB to hack it away to half-height to create your window opening.
  3. So, I digged out the contract that I had signed with Starhub on the 6th Aug. I had to sign for a 2 year contract period for the Maxinfinity Ultimate plan. Apparently, they have a 60% discount for this plan now if you contract it for a 2 years period, and I have to pay only $49.65 per month. The OpenNet installation comes free with this signup.
  4. That was certainly the case for me. I signed up as a new Starhub customer in early Aug, OpenNet came and laid the FO on the 21st Aug, the $220 that OpenNet usually charges for laying FO into a HDB unit was waived. My FO plan from Starhub costs around $49 per month, can't recall the exact figure. It is definitely not the most high-end plan. Now, I'm not sure when such offer will end. Best for you to find out more from the telcos.
  5. My unit is currently undergoing renovation. The previous owner did not install FO. I signed up with Starhub for FO, and the installation by OpenNet is hence free (up to the first 15m from where the FO enters your house to its terminal point). I waited for 2.5 weeks for the 1st available slot from OpenNet. Since your reno is in 3 weeks time, you probably have at least 4 weeks before reaching the re-wiring stage. You should start talking to the telcos regarding your FO installation ASAP; you should be just in time for the OpenNet appointment. The telcos will advise you on the telephone and 'LAN' point for FO. FYI, there is no requirement for me to get a telephone point or 'LAN' point with my Starhub signup. The telcos will be a better party to advise you.
  6. I should had been clearer: The drivers come together with the downlights. They are, however, easily detachable and hence easily changeable if such needs arise. As compared to some downlights in the market currently, which have the LEDs and their corresponding drivers moudled together. If the drivers do spoil, then you will need to change the whole downlight unit for such models. Hope it clarifies!
  7. For your reference: I bought my LED downlight from JB for RM90 each. 16W, measures 7"x7". Comes with 1 year warranty, and free metal casing if I require to install them on open ceilings. Drivers are separated from the main LED; no other technical details like lumen or lux being given. Hope it's useful information to you!
  8. Nice to hear that! Especially for the fact that they recognised faulty goodies and are willing to do an exchange even thought your purchase was made a month ago! I think the only con is that you will have to make another trip to the place. It's probably not an issue if you do go into JB often. Cheers!
  9. Hi Jay I think this is the latest link regarding purchases in JB: http://www.renotalk.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=49758 See post 10 & 11 regarding my personal purchases.
  10. Just saw this link, you might be interested: http://www.renotalk.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=51815&st=0&p=739400&hl=+slumberland%20+vono&fromsearch=1entry739400
  11. It will be a lot lesser than 38k after you net off the listed items since I'm of the impression that you wouldn't be doing up these stated items.
  12. From what I understand and had bought from JB: a) Bathroom accessories like racks, taps, bidet sprays b) Kitchen sink and taps, racks for plates, cups, knives, etc c) LED downlights d) Ceiling fans The above are approximately half as cheap as buying from Sg, if not even more. LED downlights are significantly cheaper than Sg's. Lightings, in general, are cheaper from JB than from Sg. However, the choices from JB are significantly more restrictive. You will need to do sufficient researches and not just focus solely on the prices alone. Some of the wares that I had seen in JB, while being significantly cheaper than Sg's, have quality that doesn't match up to Sg's.
  13. Hi Your unit is same sized, almost the same layout as mine. Mine is undergoing renovation currently. I also sourced for 8 to 9 quotes before confirming on this current set of contractor. I learnt from the sourcing that ID prices are definitely much higher, and I have no need for IDs since I know exactly what I intend to do for my renovation already. Hence, I finally engaged a HDB licensed contractor for all the permits, wet works and tilings, a separate carpenter for all the carpentry works, and a separate electrician for the rewirings. My main contractor's quote is about 22k. Carpenter's quote is about 14k. Electrician is about 2k. Based on what you had posted above, I believe that I'm doing a lot more stuffs as compared to you. At a glance and without going into too much details, the excess stuffs that I'm doing as compared to you includes: a) Hack and new tiles for living room b) New parquet floorings for both bedrooms c) 12 ft walk in wardrobe d) Feature wall & TV console e) Shoe cabinet, MBR cabinet, vanity cabinet f) False ceiling for living room, various recess box-up g) However, my kitchen cabinet is only about 14 ft, as compared to your 20 ft Who knows, you might actually get within your budget after deducting the extra stuffs that I'm doing. I'm quite satisfied with the progress of my renovation so far, about 60% done, and in good speed too. Do drop me a PM if you are interested to learn more details.
  14. Bought an induction hob, and 2 instant heaters from Jerome. Very competitive pricings, and he's very prompt with the sms replies. Keep up the good work!
