  1. Ya, I also hope that the rest of the works can be completed smoothly as well. Contractor is trying to finished all the works that required approval ASAP so that we can move in once TOP is obtained. As of today, it seemed to be possible albeit abit tight. We also told the new owner of our place that we might delay in moving out just in case if the TOP approval comes in abit late. They are okay as long as we continue to pay rental and move out by end Nov. So now, I can only pray HARD HARD!
  2. Last week was a hectic weekend. Sat, we went to the house to check the progress. Then met up with the carpenter to select our laminates and to go thru' all the last minute changes. After that, went & select our tiles and also went and select the color code for our sofa 'cos the guy forgot to put down the color code when we placed our order. Then, we went and purchased 1 more heater 'cos plumber said the rooms are too far apart & its best to have 1 heater per toilet. Come late evening, ah lao said he wanna go get a new mobile 'cos his went kaput on Friday... unfortunately, the one that he wanted was all sold out. Anyways, here's some photos to share on our progress. Cement done on 2nd floor See that hole there? Will be knocking down the wall so that we can access our balcony. Windows will be gone & we'll be installing folding doors 3rd flr extension cement also done Framework for 4th flr staircase done Someone complained that the contractors make too much noise on Saturday... so next time, I think Saturdays can't work liao unless no noise kinda jobs.
  3. oh dear! really serious problem! Hope it gets rectified soon.
  4. Contractor update said that they will start doing the support beams for 4th floor today. They have already called our electrician/ plumber to standby to go in early next week to start the wiring, etc. AC guy would be gg in next week as well...
  5. Hi, Please PM me the price too. Thanks!
  6. Ya, considered quite fast as at any given time, they have at least 4-5 person working at our place. I guessed it is 'cos the time frame that we gave is really very very short. Just glad that the works are in good progress.
  7. oh dear! Did any of your new stuff got stolen? We had wanted to leave our rainshower & sink with our plumber on site today. He also told us he doesn't want to take the risk. Rather that we bring the items only when he is ready to install as there are alot of 'insider' jobs...
  8. My poor neighbour's front door all kenna blocked... hope they dun get too While the works were ongoing outdoors, we went inside to see how much has been done. 2nd floor extension, the structure beams are in placed. 3rd floor extension, the structure beams are in placed too. We saw that they have already drawn the markings for the additional staircase to the 4th floor. I guess if all goes well, by end of next week, the works for the 4th floor should be almost done. Contractor said if all goes well, within 2-3weeks, the wet works should be more or less done & BCA shd be doing their rounds. Now, we all pray hard hard that everything goes smoothly.
  9. We've come to the end of Week 2 of our reno... Glad to see that the concrete works are in order. End of Week 2: 2nd floor balcony & Car porch cover Pouring the cement
  10. Lift maintenance is not cheap, also it will eat into the floor area of every floor in your house. your bedroom is on the 3rd floor? Take it as daily exercise? Our master bedroom was originally on the 3rd floor, I gave it up for my girls and will be using the room (2 single room combined to one) on the 2nd floor as the new master room instead. Figured the young ones will need something to spend their energies while old folks like me can't climb too high.
  11. Thanks all for the advise. Will ck with the contractor again. He has all the insurances in place. Just need to confirm if he can get the TOP for us before we move in.
  12. Unfortunately, not much of a choice for us.... We don't have the luxury of another home for us to stay neither do we want to go through the headaches of packing & unpacking.... Got the quote for the aircon: 1. Mitsubishi inverter single split 18000btu with conceal pipes 02 set $4000.00 For New Master Bedroom & New Entertainment Room M/n: MUY-GE18VA / MSY-GE18VA 2. Mitsubishi ceiling cassette 45000btu with conceal piping 01 set $3500.00 M/n: PU-5YAKD / PL-5AAK-SE Total: $7500.00
  13. really ah? jialat... will discuss with ah lao see if we can change or not. Delivery not made yet so I think still got chance. So for the rest of the toilets which one you bought? err... if all likelihood, might hv to move in before TOP liao. Well, at least you have a longer time frame than me... you have abt 2.5mths. I only gave 1.5mths.
  14. Are you also using the same contractor as me? We figured that it is better to have the dust below then have them fall over our heads. so we asked them to finish the top floors 1st.
  15. Loving all the warm lights.... LOVE LOVE Your walk in wardrobe! So much space! so jealous leh. Your bedroom I totally~ it seemed really huge!
  16. chanting "Pictures, Pictures, Pictures,Pictures,Pictures,Pictures,Pictures,Pictures,Pictures,Pictures..............." Well, you get the picture...
  17. Yup, I think BCA will probably take at least 2 weeks' to give approval after they have done the inspection. I am planning to install a digital lock on our main door. Any recommendations/ where to get?
  18. Thanks! I had to 'fight' with my ah lao for this... he wanted something else but end up, he give in & I won!
  19. You are right. IT IS very challenging. What they can promise is to deliver 2nd (master bedroom only), 3rd & 4th floor. 1st floor & 2nd floor balcony definitely can't make it. I can do w/o cooking for a while. So that's fine too. All we asked for are the bedrooms & toilet to be ready. The rest they can do while we are staying there. We just gotta put up with the dust & dirt. No choice.
  20. Thanks for the feedback. At least he never anyhow 'ketok' me.
  21. Toilet bowls that we bot: brand: Magnum Price: $288/ set (toilet bowl + wash basin) Wet kitchen 2 bowl sink + tap bought in ah lao's hometown for RM$298 sorry, no pics. Main hall sofa set - bot
  22. We originally plan to keep the wet kitchen as it is, but upon closer inspection, looks like have to redo... $ fly out again. We have chosen our tiles but was told that the toilet tiles for my girl's room tend to crack easily. So the contractor said it is better to choose another kind. Now have to re-choose the tiles for my girl's toilet & wet kitchen. Also, we plan to redo the steps that separate the living & dining (got the idea from Jumbopanther - THANKS!) but as we don't want to redo all the tiles, we thot to separate the steps using a different kind of tiles... likely to be black to match the rest of the white floor tiles. $ fly out again... sigh... Asking the carpenter to redo the design for our bar counter as I found tt his design not tt nice/ impressive. Shown him a pic of what I like... hope they can meet the design. Also, changed the color to red & black instead of black & white. Originally wanted to just do cement flooring for our 2nd floor balcony, now ah lao wants to do tiles that looked like wood (seemed like the rage now). $ fly out again.... For those who were interested in the door frames - I asked again. I rem wrongly and so did my ah lao. Veneer door was @$280 Simple Door frame was @$150 (like the newer HDB flats kind) "Complicated" Door frame was @ %350. Contractor said my current door frame belongs to the 'complicated' kind... anyways, he said he assessed the condition. They are good. Just need to touch up & re-vanish which he will do FOC for me. His advise is not to change. Dun waster $ he said. I like! The door frames that are showing signs of rotting are the ones in the toilet. But since we are changing the doors to glass doors, we dun need a door frame liao... heng! Can finally save a little bit here.
