  1. Yes, I believe it is an Elkay replica. It could be from China too as I did google after knowing the name of this sink from the sales lady.

However, for husband and I we are okay as we fancy a double-bowl sink that is big enough for a wok. I like it for the fact that it has a deeper base which is good as chances of water splashing out from the sink; wetting the floor is reduced. I am a simple person; so the simple-look of the sink suits me :-)

I like your sink's design too, but looking for a one bowl instead of two. :sport-smiley-018:

  2. I shortlisted below Kraus 9143 undermount sink below from AliExpress.

Currently on 20% promo at US$499 including all items shown in pic with free shipping direct to doorstep except cutters.

    krausundermountsink.jpg

Good deal? Any advice what I should look out for especially buying from overseas to make sure it's a smooth installation?

    THANKS!

This could be kraus oem, but whether or not it's real, very hard to say. You should go search for Sellena 诗琳纳水槽 in taobao, saw some negative reviews like the sink finishing not very good, item came with scratches etc. It seems like this brand is not well known in China, cos if you google, some ppl were asking how this brand compares to other more established chinese sink brand....

Anyway, US$499 is not very cheap... maybe you wanna consider buying kraus directly from Amazon? http://www.amazon.com/Kraus-KHU103-33-33-Inch-Undermount-Stainless/dp/B0032C411C/ref=sr_1_10?ie=UTF8&qid=1361346517&sr=8-10&keywords=kraus+sink

  3. Hmmm, i seriously think that it should be on par with American ones. Unless the company/brand wants to jeopardize their branding...

If the sink feels right n fits the budget, y not?

I do understand the headache of choosing a sink.. :)

Yes, it's a headache buying a good quality one that is reasonably priced. Esp I intend to get an undermount one, all the more I wanna make sure it doesn't rust or have problems in the future.

  4. I bought an Elkay double-bowl sink but as the reno of my flat is delayed, it has yet to be installed. Hence, I can't really comment if the sink is good. However, the lady who recommend this sink said to me it is made in USA and it is durable. If you can wait, I will show you picture of my sink later (most probably will be ready to be installed around early march).

Hi Kooky, do you have the model number of the Elkay sink you bought? How thick is the steel? Where did you buy it?

  5. I bought Vento Fino 13.

I'd recommend that you use this fan for an area of about 3m x 3m if you want the cooling fan effect. While it is windy and powerful for its sheer size, you need to know that this fan cannot swing left/ right and can only blow at the direction you angle it to be during installation.Angling it requires you to screw and unscrew 2 screws on the sides of the small fan, so not the most convenient thing to keep changing its direction of wind blow.

Thanks for your feedback! 3x3m sounds reasonable. I am thinking of using it at my dining area. Where are you using it in your house? Any pix to share? How much did you pay for it?

  6. I went to have a look at Elkay sinks at one of the shops commonly frequented by renotalkers. Googled the model number and realized it's a model for China market; Elkay US website doesn't list this model.

Elkay China Tmall webstore is selling this model and other elkay models supposedly from US. No prize for guessing correctly, prices of US models are much higher too.

Does it mean all the cheaper Elkay models in Singapore are China market models? Is their quality on par with the American Elkay?

  7. Sorry, can share a pic of ur side table? I spent a lot of time searching, still didn't find one I like.

I planning to get the dining table nexer got. Anyone I could tag alone? but think that is quite huge.

I searched for table lamps also. So many nice ones but seem fragile n I dun dare to order via tb.

The side table I intend to get is storage cabinet - http://detail.tmall.com/item.htm?spm=a1z10.3.w709870160.45.yZHxJk&id=14390934855&

Don't have to worry too much about lamps unless you are buying chandelier. I bought 4 ceiling lamps and they came well-packed.

  8. Yes. I would think so. But I'm not sure how will Amcom staff pack those small items together.

If you did try, please update us.. :notti: :notti:

Amcon will repack? Yes, I plan to do so... the "biggest" item I want to order is just a side table.

  9. We go by Amcom for big item (when I say big, I mean tables, chairs, sofa, bed post, tv console, etc) because Amcon charge minimum 1 cubic meter. (550rmb = $110sgd) and also they charge 50rmb per link (meaning if they help u buy, they will charge 50rmb for table, another 50rmb for bed post, etc) That is the reason why we go to 65diagou for smaller stuff. 50rmb is $10sgd leh.... quite a lot. hope that is clear.

But if we order small items on our own, meaning can save that 50rmb per link charge, it is still ok to use Amcon to ship small items right? That is assuming I have enough stuff to fill 1cm...

  10. Went to look at Elkay sinks today. There is only one model that fits my criteria, but its steel thickness is only 1mm, thinner then Kraus. I wonder if 0.5mm makes a big difference :dunno:

This Elkay's sound proofing layer below sink feels like just a thin layer. Any Kraus owner who happen to have touched an Elkay sink before? Appreciate feedback please! Thanks! :dancingqueen:

  11. I think the technology of LED now is already very advance. No more glaring like what you heard. (But glaring can also be wrong wattage selected, higher wattage than required)

To be safe, get the branded one. Like Philips or OptiLED.

And for downlight, u can select the angle of beam (narrow angle for picture lighting, wide for corridor lighting), wattage (this will determine the brightness).

My ID is good in this and he brought me to OptiLED showroom in Toh Guan to show me the different type and their effect on the room.

My reading lamp is now using E27 Osram warm white LED and I love it cos it is not hot like normal bulb and the warm white has a very pleasing effect on my reading. :dribble:

umm, i checked the boxes on my spare bulbs - led spotlights, 4 leds x 1w each per spotlight...mine is not a branded one like phillips/optiled as kim has said... :sport-smiley-018: my drivers are separate from the bulbs, incidentally...

best to go visit a few showrooms or friend's houses to get a better idea of the different types b4 deciding... :D i basically went with what my ID recommended, i have to say that it works pretty well for me and i'm happy, in terms of brightness via a combination of 1 and 2 bulbs...

Thanks for the feedback! Will seek advice my contractor too.

  12. fyi, i asked may about storage at the GZ warehouse cos kim's and my stuff are arriving at different times, she's said that no issues holding the items for us, as long as i tell her when they ship the item (发货日期)...no issues communicating with her over email but i write to her in chinese... :sport-smiley-018:

Thanks for the info. I managed to speak to her over the phone :)

  13. Thanks Sygnur.

May I check with people who are using Kraus sink - so far any issue eg rust or stains?

Anyone tried pouring hot water in and how did the sink perform? Cos I read one Amazon reviewer who said the sink "pops" occasionally when she pours hot water in. I will be grateful if any kind soul can help me do a test :sport-smiley-018:

Appreciate all feedback and comments. Thanks in advance!
