  1. thanks..! i hope my interest lasts.. Sometimes i just want to be couch potato on my off days..
  2. Don't envy... You can do it too ! The hardest part is taking the first step. Most pp, including myself, are lazybones. To motivate myself, I do my DIY in front of the tv. Kill two birds with one stone
  3. Hi redder, Im not the DIY queen.. I'm the half baked DIY-er. I tell my frens they can stand far and see but cannot go near or sneeze in case the thing collapse. Our ID is the God of DIY.. Haha.. Are you getting anything customised ?
  4. Thanks for sharing the upside-down-pictures!! The first one gave me a new idea... Hope your problems will be fixed soon.
  5. I'm waiting for you to start your blog!
  6. Thanks jnohclee! I will try to continue with this blog but sometimes it's difficult bcos of other commitments. You should try DIY too. Find smth manageable. There is no drilling involved in my projects as I can't drill and I think I will never be able to learn.
  7. Hi beginners, I can't fix ikea stuff too.. My screws are always not tight and I always have to ask for help. The DIY stuff so far involves a lot of painting bcos I can't find readymade stuff with both the designs and colour I like. I'm not sure how long more I will continue to post in my tblog...sometimes I'm bored with my own posts and I really don't want people to feel bored too. Will probably do a before and after post when the furnishings for the rooms is done and then say bye bye to RT.
  8. Thanks miss sunshine! No cooking, no housework, no painting today... I'm bringing my fingers for some retail therapy today...
  9. Today has got to be the most horrible day after I shifted into my new pad. The day started with a freak accident in the morning when I was cooking lunch. I forgot I threw the knife and other cutlery into the basin and when I was washing up, I put my hand into the soapy water and grabbed the blade of the knife... .. And then everything went downhill from there. Work was crazy and people I communicated with today were rather weird too. They must be having Monday blues! So after a long horrible day, I just had to vent all that pent up frustration by sanding down some wood! I took a piece of pinewood left behind by ID .... photo.JPG by BachelorettePad, on Flickr and turned it into this.... photo.JPG by BachelorettePad, on Flickr photo.JPG by BachelorettePad, on Flickr it's a mini bench for my plants in the balcony. The base is a small shelve which I bought on impulse but had no use for. This Is done in about 1.5 hours tonight, a personal record for me and a very good workout. But now my right hand is aching bcos of all that aggressive sanding..and my left hand is non-functioning bcos of the freak accident this morning. OUCH!... Good night..
  10. I started painting a moppe chest of drawers some time back but only managed to finish it today due to work commitments. Another reason for the delay was because I actually painted it twice. I wasn't happy with the colour the first time round and decided to repaint. Here's how it looked previously... photo.JPG by BachelorettePad, on Flickr here's the look now.... photo.JPG by BachelorettePad, on Flickr photo.JPG by BachelorettePad, on Flickr photo.JPG by BachelorettePad, on Flickr Here's how it looks with the drawer pulls.. But I think they are too small... Will need to find bigger ones. photo.JPG by BachelorettePad, on Flickr
  11. Expensive right? Sekali the paint costs more than my cupboard
  12. I'm leaning towards turquoise too. But the colour is hard to mix...been playing with the paints but can't get the right shade. Vintage turquoise is very hard to get !
  13. Thinking of giving this a new coat of paint.. Can't decide between distressed black or distressed turquoise.... Or shall I just leave it white ? photo.JPG by BachelorettePad, on Flickr photo.JPG by BachelorettePad, on Flickr
  14. No..I have never bought anything from TB bcos if the purchase is faulty after some time , I can't get a replacement. The lights are bought here. Hopefully can get a replacement or at least find out what's the problem.
  15. I am fuming today ! Another of my track light bulb is flickering and it's the second one so far. Both faulty bulbs are next to each other on the same track. I think its ridiculous that my bulbs started flickering after a few months. Anyone knows if there is a possibility that there is smth wrong with that particular track?
  16. Hope they will refund you?
  17. Yes! And the pine wood looks so good in the dark shade..more expensive looking..
  18. (continue...) The entire structure... photo.JPG by BachelorettePad, on Flickr photo.JPG by BachelorettePad, on Flickr photo.JPG by BachelorettePad, on Flickr photo.JPG by BachelorettePad, on Flickr photo.JPG by BachelorettePad, on Flickr Im really glad the shelves turned out well! The next step is the furnishing.. another tough job.. got to be really careful about what i display on the shelves or else i might spoil the look...
  19. (continue...) Here are some before and after shots.. photo.JPG by BachelorettePad, on Flickr photo.JPG by BachelorettePad, on Flickr photo.JPG by BachelorettePad, on Flickr photo.JPG by BachelorettePad, on Flickr
  20. (continue...) Of all the iphone shots i have, this is my favourite. I think it shows how skilful my ID is. The tarnished look is 100% handpainted! photo.JPG by BachelorettePad, on Flickr other shots.. photo.JPG by BachelorettePad, on Flickr photo.JPG by BachelorettePad, on Flickr photo.JPG by BachelorettePad, on Flickr photo.JPG by BachelorettePad, on Flickr
  21. My pipe shelves were finally painted this week and I'm happy with how they look now. This time I made it a point to watch how my ID created the tarnished look (unlike the time when he was doing the pipes at my tv console) and I was amazed by the whole process! Here are some shots... photo.JPG by BachelorettePad, on Flickr photo.JPG by BachelorettePad, on Flickr The painting of the pine wood shelves was most difficult and time consuming..it involved sanding and painting and more sanding. Like all other trades, any photography or description of secret methods and secret tools is prohibited. As im not sure what is secret and what is not, I will skip the process and just post pix of the product. photo.JPG by BachelorettePad, on Flickr photo.JPG by BachelorettePad, on Flickr photo.JPG by BachelorettePad, on Flickr photo.JPG by BachelorettePad, on Flickr Im surprised that pine wood grains can look so good!
