  7. Wow, You said it for me! Hahahah! I saw the lights in spore that are selling cheaply in TB. The one I saw was about 600$ here and I'm not sure if it's the real thing, but the quality is soooo good! I doubt the ones in TB can match. But everyone has different budgets and different tolerance level. As long as everyone is happy with his or her purchases, that's what matters most. Shopping should be a happy experience ! For me, I definitely have zero tolerance for leopard chairs,
  8. Haha! You actually read about my popping tiles.. The workers even found a decayed bird trapped inside the wooden board used to cover the aircon trunking!! The next time I go property hunting, I will do the following: (1) bring along a pole and tap the tiles to make sure they are not hollow (2) flush every toilet in the house (3) touch every wall to make sure there is no dampness (4) check if there is a foul smell from the Aircon (5) check with town council to see if there is any upgrading of facilities that could mean they are chopping off the beautiful trees outside your windows
  9. This episode also made me realize one thing. Although the exact same thing in spore costs more, there is quality control as the spore importer would have gotten a reliable manufacturer in china to do it. I saw this chair at comfort furniture and it was selling for about 180 during a recent sale. The wood grain was actually quite nice and the chair was well made. So it's really a case of you get what you pay for
  10. Old flats are problematic...my problems are starting to surface one by one.. How much would the repairs cost? I hope it's not lot. But look at it this way, at least you find out now and get it fixed. Imagine if the problem crops up only after your Reno is done.
  11. Oh, just realized the leopard chair is still in the system. http://admin.peeka.sg/document/fetch/6463e17523882b32a305f971de2f603b
  12. Did your agent arrange for an inspection for u before the official handover?
  13. This one. My fren recommended me this seller bcos she bought from him before, maybe I was unlucky. http://item.taobao.com/item.htm?spm=a1z10.1.w4004-1879869342.2.q1BS2m&id=17796045741
  14. I already deleted the pix bcos it's so ugly! Haha...The design is straightforward and it's a replica.
  15. I think I'm one of very few people on RT who have never bought anything from TB. I was tempted like everyone else but my first attempt some time back failed miserably. I placed an order for one dining chair to see the quality of the product. I chose a seller with very good reviews where people said the actual product looked exactly like the pix. The chair has an industrial design, with metal frame and wooden seat. I don't expect the wood to have beautiful grains (for that price, i know i cant expect nice wood). In the pix, the wood grains were not obvious, which was perfectly fine with me as the chair looked nice overall. But after the chair arrived at the china centre and peeka sent me a pix of it, I was shocked to see that the wood looked nothing like that in the pix. The wood grains looked like the strips on a leopard! While I know no two pieces of wood would have the same grains, the difference in this case was simply too big. To make sure that i was not overreacting, i showed the pix to my frens who bought from TB before and all said i should not accept the product. The peeka staff in china was very patient (at least in our online conversations). Initially she was defending the seller and said no one could say for sure how the wood will look. To get my point across, I decided to type my explanation in mandarin (which is really tedious) I said it was not the first time I bought wood products from online stores but this was the first time that the real product looked so drastically different from the pix. I typed 木纹 变豹纹! She immediately said she would reject the product but I still have to pay 40$ for domestic transport, which was okay with me. Subsequently I checked all the online stores that sell the same product and I realized that many posted the same pix or other similar looking pix online. My guess is that they lifted the pix from somewhere on the Internet. Though my first attempt failed, I have to say that peeka really has very good customer service. Instead of asking them to transfer back to me the balance of the payment i made, im keeping the amount in peeka in case I decide to try my luck with TB again. Its hard to resist those pretty knick knacks! Sorry for posting this long story in your blog. Just wanted to share my first experience with TB.
  16. the original look is more suited for resort theme home. unfortunately after DIY-ing, its still not compatible with my furnishings. have reverted it to orginal. if anyone is interested to buy, can pm me.
  17. no wonder!! When I read your posts, I had a hunch that he was trying to do a good job bcos he had to 'answer' to someone...now I know it's bcos he is doing for a relative.. So must be super on the ball or else very paiseh.. You are lucky gal!
  18. Hi, just out of curiosity, is your contractor recommended by your MIL or someone you know?
  19. Hi Harriette, I think I spoke too fast. When I looked at my wall this morning in the sunlight, the wall seemed a bit damp in one area.but I'm not very sure.. Need to wait for another rainy day to see what happens. Sigh
  20. It rained very heavily this morning and I couldn't wait to go home to check on my MBR wall. and I'm glad to say that there are no new water stains on the wall!! The wall is still white!! My water seepage problem has been solved !
  21. Hi MHB, It really is a project that requires good DIY skills. I thought the staining of the pine wood would be pretty straightforward but I was very wrong. ID used different kinds of techniques and paints to achieve the look. I was very amazed by e entire process and had wanted to take pix of every step but couldn't bcos of his secret tools and secret techniques. Haha! But honestly, even though I have an idea how to do it, I won't bother to do it myself bcos it's too time consuming and labour intensive.
  22. Thanks oldskool! Looking forward to your DIY project too .
