  7. Howdy ppl, long time no hear from mi? So here I m. Promise photos at the end. Anyway, some updates first! 1)The renovation so far has been quite smooth. Only problem seems to be the tiles. The 1st round of chemical washing has not brought out the quality of the tiles. There seem to be 'buffing' marks in many tiles. Initially K did mention to us there will be buffing marks on some tiles and that it is a manufacturing defect. But the no. of tiles with such problems is exceptionally more in our case. K has promised to help us look into this. 2)Nice colors, except for the grey in one of the rooms. Seems a little depressing color. K will help include some varying colors to brighten the mood in the room. 3)Lightings have been fixed. Simple and nice lights. 4)Aircon has been fixed. But we have not tested it yet. Worried of the dust in the room. Will do the testing once the laminate flooring is done. [MBR Toilet Shower Screen] I wanted to have rain shower in this toilet. Unfortunately, the 'sh*t' pipe is in the way. Thus the rain shower cannot be put at an optimum height for it to give 'the rain' effect on the body. But it did save alot of money though! [MBR Glass Toilet Door] Cool door... [MBR Wall Painting] Slight variation from the 3D we posted earlier...decide for urslf if its as good or better than the drawing... [bedroom 1 Wall Painting] How do you guys find the color?
  8. Hi Relacker, nice to meet a neighbour. Our layout is slightly different from yours. We do not have the portion highlighted in red. That portion is actually within our toilet. So the depth for our wardrobe is 70cm and not 50cm which we feel is reasonable to store standard items in the wardrobe. Thanks for the suggestions mate. Good luck with your reno! Regards, Mudster
  9. Ahhblur...actually nothing to check. H*B will repeat the same thing. The actual thing is, we trust Mr K. That's the reason why we chose him. But anyways will clarify with Mr K tom. He is quite frank
  10. ....I too hate lizards. But will ask K anyway...scr*w the lizards.. Mr K actually bargained the haulage fee for us. The H*B appointed contractor quoted $1200 first. It seems the sand price has risen and thus a rise in haulage(cement) fees. Does that make sense? I actually called H*B. H*B mentioned that haulage fee is fixed at $238.50...but the price of sand/cement can vary and that depends on our contractor or the supplier of the cement(which in this case Mr K says is the h*B appointed contractor who is also doing the haulage). Hopefully, they both don 'pakat'.
  11. I agree with u. Timber skirting will go well with our resort concept. However. Mr K mentioned that tiles last longer, which I agree with him. And our furniture from barang barang are walnut color -> close to black. The timber skirtings don come in that color. They are much lighter and may not go well with our furniture. The tiles however are neutral color, thus we don need to worry abt matching furniture and so on. As for the cove lighting, I couldnt agree with u more. Like what I said, my fingers are crossed! Thanks Ben3555! Regards, Mudster
  12. OK OK...Ivory says partly our fault. We didnt remind Mr K abt the cove lights when he showed us the drawing last week. NVM lor, see what Mr. K says tom. He is quite accomodating and may just improvise on the ceiling works to fit the cove lights...keeping fingers crossed...now for more photos... Kitchen Cabinet Base Screeding - Angle 1 See our big kitchen. Ivory better make full use of the big kitchen and do some good cooking everyday... Kitchen Cabinet Base Screeding - Angle 2 See the pipe. This is where our teka sink will fit. Washing Machine Base Screeding Our washing machine will sit here...See the kerb? The pipe to the washing machine is covered by the kerb... Fridge Base Screeding Need to buy a big fridge to fit that base...dont u guys think so? MBR Toilet Shower Kerb The MBR toilet is in a mess... Common Toilet Shower Kerb The common toilet is in a mess also...Hopefully u guys will get to see pleasant images of our toilets in the next few posts... Phew, Mudster *tired*
  13. Living Room Tiles Requested for timber(laminate) skirtings but Mr K forgot. Maybe its a blessing in disguise. I feel with our furniture from bar*ng bar*ng, the tiles skirtings will seamlessly blend in. The timber skirtings may not blend in that well. This is what I think. Ivory thinks otherwise. Anywayz, Mr K is willing to hack the skirtings and replace it if necessary. Living Room Ceiling We wanted cove lightings all along. But somewhere along the line think K forgot. Now that the ceiling is up, we realise that there are no cove lights. Think we will bring it up to K tom and see what he says. Bedroom Works Some works going on in the master bedroom. See the pile of cement there...BTW the haulage fee is $700. Is that alot? Think ill post these photos first...more coming... cheers, mudster
  14. Hey everyone. 2 photos that we took yesterday when tiling works commenced. More to come. Dining/ Walkway Tiling Can see the cement stains? Ivory and myself are quite concerned about this. K mentioned that bomb shelter door is sagging a little, so have to be careful while opening the door during the reno process so that it does not scratch the tiles. Once the bomb shelter feature wall goes up, there should not be a problem coz the door won't open fully anyways. Dining/Walkway Ceiling Hmm magnificent walkway ceiling... Regards, mudster
  15. test...test...test my url setting ...hehe! test...test...sorry test again...
  16. oh ok...tot so too...just wanted some confirmation. tx ahblur! cheers, mudster
  17. We finally chose the tiles from Hafari, even though the selections were lesser, the quality is apparently better than SBT for the grade that comes with our package. The tile that we chose has been previously chosen by about 8 different clients of Mr K. So we actually went for a safe selection. Only problem is many will have the same tiles. Its supposed to be some SUPER GLOSS polished homogeneous tiles. What I am worried is whether buffer lines will be visible on these tiles. Any one ever face this problem before? Today Mr K came over and scribbled some things on the walls of our house to indicate wiring installations for his electrician. When Mr K locked up our gate, he did mention that its his baby for the next 5 weeks. Don't think he was staging it...there was sincerity in his voice. But he did mention he is apprehensive of the renovation works in our area. His previous work dealings at our area was not very pleasant for him. Well, we both(us and Mr K) hope that our partnership would be a new and bright beginning for the both of us. Ya finally Mr. K must have been happy. We made our 50% of the payment. Ivory made the payment. Of course m gonna share the cost with her la. Anyway, it seems the haulage fees at our flat has been increased. Can H*B-appointed contractors increase cost as they like? Doesn't their contract stipulate to keep the price fixed? And who pays for the Gas & Water & Elec bill during this period of renovation? Us or our renovator? Wah seems like expenses are just building up...Boss I need pay increment liao and a big fat bonus...Unfortunately my boss don't read this website! Cheers, A Bankrupt Mudster!
  18. I wonder why my H*B officer has started to call and update me of the progress of the house. Hmm, hopefully its a sign that he is taking interest in the house and not trying to 'keng' that he is good TO, now that the defect works seem to be ending. I am not gonna sign the form nor the survey if the work done is not up to expectations. Hey dear, seeing an MP will have an effect. It is a matter of taking trouble to see the MP and getting him/her to write a letter to H*B. Even if the MP decides to write one, how soon the letter will reach H*B and how fast H*B would react to the letter would be another question. This idea may not be feasible if you want to move in early. Nonetheless, this method can be used if all else fails. cheers, mudster
  19. Hi all, Long time never hear from me right. So here I am to contribute. If not Ivory will be fed up with me and then she will start having this long face and spoil my weekend. So anywayz, on a more serious note, H*B has been a real pain in my a*se. The rectification work has been Reaaallllllyyyyyy sllllllooooooowww. And they have been giving me really amateurish work. To top it all, they have been using my gas and water supply without my knowledge. They(I do not know whether its H*B or the the appointed contractors) actually have the key to the utilities room. They forced open my main water tap and switched on the power supply too. Luckily my animal instincts alerted me and I confronted the TO. After that he was so apologetic about this. This TO Uncle looks like a gullible old man and starts playing tricks behind my back. S*B! I was really at loss for words that H*B could do such a thing. Anyways, I need input from u guys on the following: 1) The window handles were scratched and oxidised. H*B repainted them. But quality of work is poor and surfaces are still rough. Remember this H*B people are 'very professional', wonder what they will do if I want them to change the handle. 2) There was a chipped window. The chip was only visible right at the bottom near the gasket. I do not see the chip now...but the glass doesnt seem new either. It has some markings to indicate that it was either the same window or interchanged within my house. 3) The toilet lourve windows were rusty at the ends. Told them to change. Now it seems they just cut off the ends. The ends are now jagged. The TO said they actually bought new ones, but the ends were too long that they had to cut off the ends to fit the window frame. 4)One of the pipes were leaking. They seem to had cut and fix it with some glue-like stuff. But this pipe is the inlet pipe. I am not comfortable they had used the glue at our inlet pipe since the water we drink will be coming from here. Ivory is worried that if we asked them to change or redo the works, this H*B ppl are just going to delay our renovation works. Can I call my reno ID to start work parallely while this S*B H*B ppl do their work? Your valuable input is appreciated! Thanks a million! Regards, A Pissed Mudster
