  1. Hi All. Wondering if anybody else has had problems with their Amasco ceiling fans. I bought 4 last year in my newly renovated 5-room flat. Bought from ION Lighting at Joo Chiat. The model I bought is not easily available and not all fan shops have it. I bought it because it was the only ceiling fan I could find which has wooden blades. I am totally regretting the purchase and wish I had gotten some reliable KDK fans. Within 1 year, all 4 Amasco fans in my flat have broken down at least once. It will be working fine when suddenly, there's a click sound and it just stops working. All 4 have been repaired at different times when they broke down and yet they break down again. All my other lighting fixtures on the ceiling are perfectly fine so I don't think it's the electrical wiring. Please let me know if you're facing similar issues with your ceiling fans - from Amasco or other brands. Model: DC FAN DCG-8 with 5 wooden blades
  2. Hi Granitetop, congratulations on the new home and renovations! Just wondering which model of Amasco fans did you install in your house? I bought 4 last year from ION Lighting at Joo Chiat. Model is DC FAN DCG-8 with 5 wooden blades. And they have all spoilt at least once.
  3. We decided to go with All Best. After reading the comments about them on Renotalk (positive and negative included), I had my apprehensions. But they turned out to have the best balance of affordability and trustworthiness (somewhat). My parents used them for their current place, it's been 2 years and the air-cons and trunking are working fine. We are installing on 17 Nov.. -crosses fingers- Hope everything will turn out smooth! Both my contractor and we will be there to monitor. Our specs for those who are interested... Mitsubishi Inverter System 4 MXY4A28VA - compressor MSY-GE10VA - 3 air-con units at 10,000BTU each MSY-GE26VA - 1 air-con unit at 26,000BTU for Dining/living Cost (inc delivery and 1 installation): $3,699 Add 1 installation to install the actual units: $50 GRAND TOTAL: $3,742 Freebies: Servicing voucher worth $160 CapitaMall voucher worth $100 I got quotes for the same specs from... Gain City: $3,599 Best Tech: $3,585 Cool Aircon & Engineering: $4,100 My contractor's contact: $4,200 Even though Gain City and Best Tech were cheaper, we didn't like the attitude and vibe of the sales people so we didn;t go with them. The other two companies are small ones who probably didn't have economies of scale to offer an affordable price.
  4. My parent's flat's Mitsubishi System 4 Inverter air-con was installed by All Best. There was one hiccup - Air-con installer and Contractor didn't communicate and some hole/piping wasn't done to our expectation. So my parents got All Best to change it and it was okay. This was in Sep 2010. So far now the air-cons are still working well. The trunking looks fine to me. I'm thinking of using them for my new place..exact same model and specs. But now that I've read these threads I'm not so sure.
  5. Thanks for replying me. : ) Actually, I don't know why I am so worried about this as my husband-to-be and I don't really cook much. I guess I just don't want to make any decisions that I might regret..as this is my first time and all. I might try building a counter with a bi-fold "window" above it to close it off. And a door to close off the kitchen entrance when needed. Maybe I'll post pics on Renotalk if it turns out nice, haha.
  6. Hi everyone! I'm sourcing for an air-con system for my 10 year old 5 room flat which I just bought and am going to renovate. I've personally used Mitsubishi Electric Starmex Inverter at home and in my office so I think I will go for that (safe choice). My specificatons are: 9,000 BTU fan coil unit for 3 bedrooms 24,000 BTU fan coil for living/dining area Does anyone have any recommendations for good installers? Thanks in advance : )
  7. Why don't you try homogenous tiles with a wood finish for the bedrooms? They come in all sorts of colours and grain textures, and are affordable. Material cost ranges from $2 all the way to $4+ and $7+ for the Italian ranges. I just picked out my homogenous wood finish tiles at Soon bee huat in Jurong. They had so many choices that we were spoilt for choice. : )
  8. Hi Itsybits! I'm new to the renovation process and am so inspired by your place. Just want to ask how's the smell in your house whenever you cook in your open plan kitchen? I love open plan kitchens but don't like the food smell to linger in the whole house... *want the best of both worlds, haha
