  1. not sure too. but seen many people do it. they were secured by super strong screws for my case. me still thinking for long term solution too.
  2. haha, for u, myrick88. The bamboo holder from the kitchen area.
  3. yap. need some serious thoughts ya. must really know your needs and wants. actually by having the roof, we are able to construct storage there and my rubbish chute also concealed and hidden away. tiny columns of the constructed storage helps to hide away the brooms and cleaning stuff.
  4. Hi myrick88, mine is a case whereby i need the roof up to expand my kitchen, since we need to build a bigger room downstairs for my maid and mother. with the expansion, the usual utility/study room was made to appear than current BTO normal bedrooms. i think you have to ponder your lifestyle and concept theme for the reno. as long as we are happy right? you may be right about the bamboo support. that is why i am contemplating to fabricate a special bamboo support to be installed from the MBR window....haiz still thinking..
  5. Hi Onn, So far, my domestic helper handling the cleaning. But my wife got to stock up on glass cleaners. Hehe.
  6. Hi myrick88, Yap. Mine is an open concept kitchen. The toilet downstairs was changed to PD door, (yes, I know about the maintenance issue and my guest had to be oriented in order to go to the loo Infact my ID had designed built in doors to cover the machine (think u can see the pull out door and track from pic) for me to hide my washer. But we are always too lazy to use the doors. Ok. Will post a pic inside the kitchen as well as the balcony roof constructed, with the second floor common toilet which I missed out earlier. Yes. I do have problem hanging laundry...I had installed a bamboo support outside the balcony. Pics later, and I am still exploring on other alternatives. Challenging indeed.
  7. Hi All, Pardon the some mess which may not be cleared properly.

  9. Hi All, Not sure how there was a problem with my photobucket account. I shall share my floor plan and 3D drawings again. My Gen 2 EM floor plan: http://i1295.photobucket.com/albums/b632/KenLui123/FloorPlan1_zps3eae4327.png
  10. Hi split84 Not the same la. Cos the one sighted by me in Hougang.
  11. Hi spikedolloll Think if u really want and need to change can try. Cos any leak on second floor toilets will not affect other or complaints. This was what I was advised. Good luck on your reno journey.
  12. Hi potatoes, So what my ID said was true la. Things can be done with risks taken. If get caught then face consequences. I was discussing with him over installation of two air con compressors then.
  13. Hi potatoes, Yes. Hacked. The costs for construction think not cheap too. The whole place above the roof levelled with steel or sort. Glass windows with curtains. Dare not take photo and post here. Not sure got approval or not.
  14. Hi split84, Too bad, ours not ground floor. What I had seen was the void being converted into a small bedroom or sort. Could see mattress. Good for the ground floor EM owners loh. Super envious.
  15. Hi, I believe that there are movers that go by truck load. Not the total number of boxes. There is also a benchmark on the truck capacity. One trunkload is about $300 to $400. My last moving did in Dec last year was $300 per truckload.
  16. Hi Terrian1976, I am actually exploring on ways to dry my laundry too. Will you be able to do a sketch on your requirement for visual understanding. I do know that it is possible for contractors to fabricate to our specs. Thanks.
  17. Ya. Sis, I agree with Batman's suggestion. You should go CASE to get advice and rope them in if need be to mediate and ensure that the contractor follow strictly to the terms of contract. This contractor really too much to mention about not performing the renovations and carpentry up to date if you did not pay them the payment contrary to the contract agreement on terms of progression payment. In my recent reno experience, we pay 40% upfront b4 works start and the remaining 60% was paid up on completion. I took the risk for the 40% by paying upfront, my ID took the risk on the remaining 60% if I don't pay up. Eventually, we paid up after about 2 weeks of taking over to ensure that everything is in order. During these two weeks, minor touch ups here and there were performed. Have to admit that my wife quite picky de. You really need to plan for contingencies too.
  18. Wow, You are lucky like striking 4D. At least COV saved can be utilised to do Reno to your liking mah Wishing you all the best for your Reno journey!
  19. Hi HappyAng and FFF, I was told that it is an industry standard to use lamiglass.
