  1. It is really a matter of choice whether to buy a dryer or not. A dryer is useful if you have a lot of laundry and limited airing space in the house. It is good for drying cotton bedsheets and towels especially during the rainy season. But hey, the sun always comes out. You must know that you cannot tumble dry most of your clothing (check your washing labels on clothing) - the elastic bands spoils quickly, some clothes shrink and every piece of laundry actually "thins" out. You'll get this fluff collected at the front of the door. You'll have to sort your laundry, so you may end up not having much to be tumble dried. I use the Electrolux with a stacking kit (total $630) over the washer. Here in Singapore, over one year, used it less than 20 times or maybe 10, mostly for sheets and towels. SUNSHINE IS FREE.
  2. Hi Mace I am not familiar with alexandra village. Is that near Queensway Shopping Centre? Cheers,
  3. Does anyone know where I can get rattan strands or PE rattan (synthetic)? I have 2 old wooden chairs with rattan seats that need repairing. Will attempt to do the weaving myself if I can get the supplies. Or if someone knows where I can get my chairs repaired. Thanks!
  4. Did you eventually move your hood? some tips in the ariston catalogue :- may be useful 1. Cooker hoods should be mounted 650 mm to 800mm from the hob for optimum results. 2. Replace aluminium/disposable grease filters every 2 months or sooner. 3. Charcoal filters remove odours. They last up to 2 years depending on your cooking style. As a general guide, replace when the charcoal bits inside the filter do not make rattling sound upon shaking. (If mounted too low, the hood tend to blow the flames if you are using gas cookers.) Think I'll do mine at 800mm.
  5. I got someone (from Classified Ad) to relaminate a wardrobe some years back. Paid $750 to do just the outside of the doors (I think abt 9ft long and 9.5ft height). I did this cos I thought I would move out in 2 years. Guess I overstayed. hee End result - if you are not fussy, it looks okay but on close-up, you can see uneven patches. I watched him do the stripping of old laminate - some of the ply underneath tore off. It is quite inevitable. Furthermore, you need to have a working area for him. He would dismantle the old doors, lay out everything etc. The smell of glue was very strong. In my case, I was living in the house so it was a little inconvenient for 2 days. The upside was I didn't have to empty my cabinets. In my opinion, if the carcass is in good condition changing the whole door is better. If the insides are old, making a brand new cabinet is best. May cost more but it'll give you the all new shiok feeling and you can change the configuration to make it more funtional.
  6. Is that with rods running up and down the centre part? Usually used for French doors? Fersina?
  7. Not solely. HDB rule :- Dunno how to insert link. My condo bye-laws along same line.
  8. Aiyo your MC don't care hah. Then see if your plumber can trace the leak. See, sometimes it is not the inlet pipe (clean water) that leaks but could be the area near the waste pipe (dirty water). Hope you have nice neighbours or better still nothing serious. True, downstairs unit always point finger at upstairs but then upper neighbours don't suffer if nothing is done. You will have water raining down on you if you don't share cost to repair. Sometimes upstairs neighbour will avoid you if they don't want to pay anything. That is when the MCST bye-laws come in. For me, actually I see it that I was at the losing end leh but bo bian. We agreed on a contractor. They suspected leak from floor trap area, so they injected grout (to save on hacking tiles) but the grout "ran" and choked up my toilet bowl. Then they have to remove the toilet bowl (wc broke in the process, this I didn't claim from neighbour) to hack the grout and then got to hack the floor too. Worse part was not being able to find matching tiles. The repair went on for 3 weeks. See the trouble. That's why upstairs people, whether HDB or private, can be difficult in this situation. Anywayz, hope your case isn't so bad.
  9. Call your MCST. They will advise you. It 's usually share cost 50-50 if it's a leak between floors. Sometimes it is difficult to trace the point of leak. Or simply leaking from your own storage water heater above the ceiling board if you have one. Your plumber can check. If it's a leak below the upper floor slab, you bear the cost. I shared 50-50 repair cost with neighbour downstairs.
  10. Thanks for the alert. I thought so good deal when I saw the ad this morning.(even cut it out) If i can guess the 4D first prize, I might as well go bet at Singapore Pools to win more money.

  12. Hi Am looking for ceiling fan too. Which KDK fan you bought and how much?
  13. he funny Oppsgal, hop on your thread.. Am also looking for hob and hood. Thinking of Franke. Anyone got comments on Franke hob and hood. They are more well known for their sinks, eh? For hobs, the burners come in diff. power like 3.1kw or 2.8kw or even 4kw. Actually, how hot is that? For hood, there's the 3 or 4 speed motor, air circulation, noise level. Thinking of one - 4 speed , 900m3/hr, 40db. Anyone knows what is effective? THANKS.
  14. Oh I know which shop. . high end stuff. They bring in the Viking range too but it needs a transformer. Not designed for local use and price is wow! Consider... consider... Came across Rina Elect and KHL Marketing on the internet - many brands to offer. Also high end. THANKS
