  1. Sighs.. feeling 'hopeless' 😩😪now... But really appreciate your kind advice though. Thanks again symphony! Wow you must have gone thru a lot of hassles.... dreadful indeed! I did 'talk' to my neighbour on several occasions... Each time he says he'll try to keep the noise down. But he changes his habits n 'patterns' every now n then. For a period he would blast his radio at 6+7am, so loud that I cld even feel the tremor in my rm! One thing for sure will not improve is his 'elephant' steps, Bad habits die hard! (Note there are others staying in his unit, only he has this foot stomping problem.) Sighs...
  2. Thanks so much symphony! So so glad to rec a response alas! Thought many people having similar problem (I could see many viewed this topic)... Really no one could resolve at all? Your insulated ceiling really did work out huh? Coincidently I'm arranging a false ceiling maker in to see if something can be done for my bedroom. He suggested using layers rockwool and baseboard. He did mention can't totally soundproof but can reduce noise. You know I'll do what ever possible... I'm living in misery😪 Do you know what's the material used on your ceiling? Can advise on price range? I even call a acoustic co, they say they do sound absorption... Not soundproof? Perhaps my 'business' is too small for them😒sighs
  3. just to clarify... i'm charged one cost for hacking/removel of existing tile skirting + another sep cost for new skirting (which in your case is included in the $XX/ sq ft cost) --- that's the inconsistancy you see. in any case, i'll clarify/neg further when they come down for site measurement. anyway, thanks greg for your kind words....(oh not forgetting your 'tips' mentioned earlier, on installation re trimming material, workmanship etc - which i've already 'clarify' prior deposit - all say good good no prob blah.. - hope they'll delivered what is promised!) after this flooring matter, my next project will be the kitchen. i love your kitchen sink fr taobao. looking for something like that too - big, deep and squarish -- v practical when it comes to washing big pots/wok. hope to hear your feedback on this - whether it's durable n sturdy? (...actually i'm afraid to buy online when you can see and feel the materials) btw, have you solve your 'hiccup' on the kitchen? fully completed? guess i'll need to come back and consult you further... cheers
  4. thanks so much greg. i'm getting same flooring as you, my costing has an additional/optinal cost for skirting leh? (hacking existing tiles skirting is another $$). i managed to bargain FOC for trimming of main/bedrm/storerm doors (total 4) though (this is of course if need to). So will it kinda compensate me for what i'm paying for? ...or should i go 'bargain' some more? yikes! note there is a wastage charge in the cost... ie (flr area + 10%) x S$xx/sq ft (for supply, install, accessories &10% wastage) -- i thought this is a norm practice so did not question?? anyone can advise further? thanks!
  5. Hi, may i chk when we get quote for laminate/vinyl flooring eg $xx/sq ft... what is included in this cost? Does it include skirting material (or a separate additional cost)? what is meant by 'accessories'? is it norm to pay an extra 10% wastage cost?
  6. no response.... sobs something wrong with my settings (post/topic)? pls pardon me, i'm newbie to RT. patiently awaiting for advice
  7. Hi everyone Need kind advice from those who have overlay existing tile flooring with laminates/vinyl/HERF flooring.... Should I hack away old tile skirting and replace with new matching skirting material? Need to pay extra $$ for the hacking & new skirting, so wondering whether to do it or not? Will it look ugly (or any other problem) to leave the old tile skirting as it is? Any pix to show? Thanks in advance!
  8. Hello everyone! I've been constantly disturbed in my sleep by noises coming from unit above (eg footsteps, door screeching, dropping/dragging things ). I could also feel the 'vibrations' of footsteps! even after shifting my bed away from the wall. Searching thru forums, it seems many are sharing the same plight. There's few reviews touching on this topic, but are a couple yrs' back and none provide concrete solution.... I really need to know if any members has really 'tried and test' any co... soundproofing on ceiling or room? Is it effective in blocking the noises (mentioned above)? Pls recommend. KINDLY HELP! Thank you Sleep-deprived!
