  1. We went to look for ourselves, visited Poh Joo, Universal Union and Hoe Kee. Bought from UU and HK half half of the wares.. I find the pricing in HK is more transparent, while the others are typically very much "marked up", so you need to negotiate for discount.. if you do not bring ID, think can ask for more discount, as they do not need to "reward" ya ID (commission). Bought the accessories mostly from HK as they have more range and better priced, as well as our MBR glass bowl basin, Blanco kitchen sink + taps. From UU we got our bathtub, rain shower systems, storage heater, cooker hob/hood, CBR basin, and 2 WC.
  2. so far things are ok.. they lay sort of protection layer over our tiles in the living and dining area after filling the grout.. couldnt check the quality of the grouting except those uncovered side areas, which look ok. The tilers pretty good, got checked which tile sound hollow, and take them out and re-lay them. the chips, not that bad, small little ones at the corners, which looks ok after grouting.. although there are some big ones on our kitchen floor tiles.. gonna inform our ID after a thorough inspection. to my understanding, glazed means a layer of harden protection that help the tile to be more scratch resistant.. which isnt easy to see the diff unless you try scratching with a hard object the delay in my wall hacking approval is pushing my handover by a week who is ya ID? ours is Amy, and she had been very attentive to our needs and questions.
  3. BTW not sure if other ID charges GST, but a few including Homely do not charget GST. So far the progress is ok, at least everyday I can see somethings were done. Anyway, should the tilers put the cupboard sheet once they have put the tiles? Cuz they didnt do so in our bathroom.. Also the tilers.. dunno brainless or what.. i dont mind if some tiles are slightly chipped at the corner (probably during transport?), but they should not put them in the middle of the wall, so ugly.. probably to the one corner, or somewhere that will be ultimately be hidden).. Our 600x600mm glazed homo tiles came with packaging labelled "unglazed".. confronted the ID, who then checked with shop.. they said the chinese supplier often anyhow use the packaging boxes.. not sure whether to trust them or not
  4. They started the hacking on last thu and scheduled to complete coming monday.. but our schedule may slipped cuz will waiting approval for some wall hacking from HDB Will post pic when more work is done, now is just a mess. I think its applicable for all, better think carefully what you want b4 u sign on the line, subsequent changes will cost money.. So far, I had made a small change to my dining ceiling, install one more row of L-box, and got charged $270 for it + the extra lite point initially.. negotiated down to $200 Anyway our ID has been very friendly, prompt, and give sound advise.. think she may be quite busy with projects, so hopefully she does not slip in managing ours.
  5. Just pm u ekardo. But I advise u to wait for our feedback on the installation, if you can are not in a hurry.
  6. Everywhere i go, they are using standard things like GR23, 3/8" insulation, horizontal 16mm vertical 13mm drainage pipes.. if better need to top-up.. seems like the major players are at least. Not planning to use the a/c often, so didnt really bother as long as my contractor uses new standard parts.
  7. Abit high imo. Nothing is free in this world, "free" stuff already added in cost. Certain things like labour for this and that, hackhing, etc i find its better to sum up all and compare, rather than comparing individual items. See if they can absorb the GST. My ID does not have GST.
  8. Is ya panasonic non-inverter system3? I just signed with Natural Cool for Panasonic non-inverter system3 CU-3C20GKH and CS-C9GKZW*3 for $1729 including stainless steel bracket, plus '"trade-in of existing a/c" (which I think is a marketing gimmick). Initially I call their hot-line, and they say only 1 trip, extra trip need to pay. But i was recommended to a guy call Gary by my ID, and he ok with as many trips as my ID needs, now at 3 trips. Not sure if this is a good buy, but seems much cheaper than the quotes i got from IMM AB and GC, $1849 and $1949 respectively. Hopefully they do a good job..
  9. Yup, just signed up with them today, and selected our floor tiles already.. one disappointment was initially we selected a very nice super gross homogeneous tile @ $3.90 psf (although our max was $3.50), the ID was ok actually.. after selecting everything, we were told by the sale person that the $3.90 no stock!.. i believed it was because the ID didn't want to lugi, so told the sale to inform us to use the non super gross but similar tile @ $3.30 psf well.. this is my speculation lah. Our ID had been very patient and friendly throughout.. kekeke she even made a mistake on one of the tile for my bathroom (mistaken $5.00 for $2.50), but honour her selection lor so overall we are quite pleased with them up to this stage.
  10. hi Carnetto and Oonik, can share where you got your rinnai? the places I been to cannot offer me at these prices leh..
  11. Just wish to know what is the norm, to remove the existing aircon trunking? Will the ID do it for you, or is the aircon supplier suppose to do it, and any charge if so? Thanks!
  12. Just went to visit the Geylang shop and attended by Penny (.. was hoping Wendy or Irene..). She was polite, though a bit young I think, and brief me on most of the products, as I will be getting alot of kitchen and bathroom stuff. For a maclarie wc, was quoted $200 for dark colour, $190 for light colour, and $180 for white colour.. was reading somewhere someone buy a maclarie for $168? Fujioh (FG793GL + FX900), originally $788, she offered me $720.. was hoping for more actually Rinnai (RB-3SS(GB) + RH-90ERi), originally $736, offered $595.. read somewhere someone bought from this place (RB-3SS+ RH972) at $600 which originally was $812, so the discount given to me seems a bit.. Anyone got Fujioh hob/hood? it seems Fujioh give 3 yrs warranty while only 1 yr for Rinnai? The bathtubs she shown me was pretty ok priced, from $270 to $320 for 1500m (L) unit, excluding handles $55 and something called the pop-up (sort of tube for overflow?) $45.
  13. Can anyone PM me the Geylang shop address? Thanks.
  14. Have not viewed.. are they good? Will be bring them to view my unit for detailed quote this weekend.. planning to start 2nd week of Jun. Btw what the size of your unit and the quote you got, if convenient to share?
  15. My ID is Amy. We are considering between Baroque(Andy) and Homely; Homely quote is slightly higher than what Baroque offered, but I quite like Amy's attitude (not to say Andy's is not good, he is also very patience with us, but was reluctant to put some of our request in black and white, just said will absorb..).. she was the only one to sketch on paper 3D perspective of our layouts at this early stage. Strange they have so few review here, as they are listed in HBay too, although is not RADAC. I am just worried that Homely may not deliver as well as their level of responsiveness and post-reno service..
