  1. Thanks Tessina, Makan, Greg and Jingyi for your comments and vote. The wet works for the flooring and bathroom/yard have been completed this week. As per schedule, the peranakan tiles at the foyer were the last to be done. Ah Meng laid them out on Wed and everyone had to jump over the area to enter/leave the house for 2 days ! I did managed to snap a quick shot before Ah Meng covered it with a protective cardboard layer.
  2. Hi vanessa. I love the way you are doing up yr EM too with open kitchen and study we did considered an EM in tampines and even drew up layout plans on how we wld do up the space ... Until we considered the stairs... As we will grow old in this house, we decided better to keep things on the same level!!We decided to order new doors as the new tiling has raised the floor level. Ah Seng came to measure last nite and left us a brochure of designs to choose...
  3. The masonry works have been going on for the past week. Glad that we had chosen well with the Betula naturale tile so the living room & kitchen look so much brighter now (even with old coat of orange paint on the existing walls). The completed flooring have been covered up by Ah Meng so I have not been able to snap any photos to share. Will do so once the flooring is unveiled. Yesterday, Tikiman had a call from our Contractor. Ah Meng had reported that the MIC Blanco wood tiles meant for the bedrooms have some degree of warp when he laid the tiles according to the pattern drawn by Tikiman. We rushed down immediately to check on the severity of the problem. Using the finger test, we could feel the slight bump of unevenness along the joint line. After some brainstorming with the sub-con Ah Weng, we agreed to modify the tile laying pattern to a staggered 5cm incremental step. Ah Meng then redo a section and it was much better with hardly discernible wrap. What a sigh of relief ! We thanked the tillers with a carton of isotonic drinks and some Old Chang Kee curry puffs.
  4. Hi tessina, we have chosen the ground-floor unit bec of the high ceiling. It is also more convenient for Tikiboy to do his walks and we have large green spaces to grow some plants. Hopefully, once we move in with Tikiboy, the meow meows will stay outside.
  5. Hi Makan, I've seen Vanessa's Scott on her t-blog. He looks really cute, like my Tiki at that age. My Tikiboy is a lovable 8-yr old GR who still behaves like a puppy !
  6. Love the old wood cabinet. Is it solid or veneer? Is the store door from yontat? Looks like sliding barn door. Can share with me the quote? Thanks!
  7. Hi June, I think its not the degree of difficulty for this job but the amount of time required to do a good whitewash effect on the 3 doors. As we understand from a friend who is in the furniture line, it would take a workman at least 3-4days to complete the job. This will work out to almost the same cost if we were to change new doors. Hence, our contractor suggested changing the doors and we can choose the designs we like.
