  1. Hi Eric, read so many good reviews, pls pm your lights and fan catalogue with best pricing, looking to seal a quick deal for my reno needs, thanks!
  2. Hi all! Need some advise: 1. Am looking for ceiling fans, just plain black ones, without any of the fancy designs. With remote control. Does anyone have any brands and models to recommend? Other than the legendary Haiku fans haha 2. What light options do I have to go with my ceiling fans? I dont like fans with lights, i prefer not to go with having to fix downlights, false ceiling, L box etc. I dont mind a raw feel and my wiring to be unconcealed. Thinking of fixing track lighting, or pendent lights spaced away from the fan but am concerned with the shadows that might be caused by the fan. Does anyone have any experience to share? Thanks in advance!!
  3. Hi Lauer, Thanks so much for your explanation, very clear and understandable! So that means i have to check with the MC as to which works are allowed and which are not right? Now if assuming the works I have listed above are allowed (cos i understand that my neighbours have also done these), should i get a builder? I suppose i do not need an architect and all that right? Would it be difficult to do the ID on my own? Do you know abt the dofference between contractors and builders? Thanks so much!
  4. Hi all, Need some advice regarding renovations, hope to get some help, thanks in advance! My place is a terraced cluster house (part of a condo). I intend to hack a kitchen wall, redo the toilets, extend a room by removing the adjoining balcony, laminate flooring, and carpentry works. Do I need a builder to do these? Are these considered A&A works? I was intending to do the interior design on my own, would that be difficult? Side question-is there a difference between a builder and a renovation contractor?
  5. err, i din know they have other kinds of rocking chairs... anyway, sorry i'm not exactly sure where it was bought, it has simply been around my house for a long long time, kinda like an antique around the house haha...
  6. hmmm im quite new to this thing, still trying to figure out how to post pictures on the forum... can someone help me pls? anyway, u can view it here first... rocking chair its a solid wooden rocking chair, cushions are mine own... goes well with the woody theme if you are into that... anyway, nope, we are not giving it away for free haha... but price is negotiable... anyway, if you are interested first then let me know, then maybe we can work something out! cheers!
  7. hi! i stumbled upon your posting, was wondering if you are interested in a old solid wooden rocking chair. i have one at home that my mum has been hoping to get rid of (takes up too much precious space)... cheers!
  8. hi all... i am facing the same problem too, bought a 26yr old resale and wan to aircondition living and 3 bedrooms. well, im not an expert, still trying to read and find out more, do correct me if i am wrong... as far as i understand, for 4 and 5 rm old flats provided with 30Amps, which i believe ours fall under this category... the max limit for the current for our airconditioner is 8.5Amps. We cant upgrade this 8.5Amp. 15 Amps is the limit of the POWER POINT provided, but for the running of the aircon, 8.5 Amps is the limit. There is an existing power point, which we can choose to change to a new one but we need to apply for a permit to do so. (haven figured the benefits of doing so tho, awaiting a reply from HDB regarding this). Bottomline: we are stuck with 8.5 Amps. (and being allowed to install only one compressor unit) But the good news, PHEW, is that, there are System 4 units that run on 8.5 Amps. I believe these would be the Inverter units, as these allow the current varied. As Genesis has noted, Daikin does have a System 4 that runs on 8.5 Amps. (http://www.daikin.com.sg/products.asp?series=r4) Not sure about ME as yet though... will update if i find more units... and information cheers!
  9. excellent, applefreak, thank you for your prompt reply... just exactly the answers i am looking for hehe, will give patrick a call tomorrow! hehe, of course will start my blog.... once i get started on my renos... right now, too busy just asking for quotes and looking for electrical appliances... before the GST increase!
  10. hi ho bee fans read your posts on ho bee, and am quite impressed... would like to find out more before i contact patrick for a quote, if you can help: 1. is ho bee a contractor or an id firm? ie, do they provide design consultation, or do they major purely on the renovation works itself? do they do drawings for you? 2. understand that they hv their own carpenter, how about stuff like electricals and aircon, do they have their own sub-con, or did u all source for this on your own? if the latter, what about the coordination, did you guys do it on your own, or will patrick do all the coordination? 3. am intending to do some major renos on my 4 room resale, would anyone have any idea the price range it would fall under? hacking a couple of walls, fair bit of carpentery (the usual kitchen cabinets and build in wardrobes for bedrooms), redoing the flooring and stuff... do u think it can be kept below $30 000? thanks.... a million! earth
