  1. i agree, communication is very very important. when you hire an ID, you definitely want some level of consultation on design etc. but you also have your own taste and preference for what you like too. the best is a balance between what you like and what he/she advises. when we started, our balance was like 70% us and 30% dave...then after listening to him, i find his ideas always work out better than ours so now it become 10% us and 90% dave haha. i think its becoz he know our taste well enough and understand what we like/don't like so he can select for us better...also on our part, we really trust his design and taste so we are not worried. jule, talk more with her more, im sure things will be ok la some things cannot change is normal and fair as long as they tell u in advance. but no matter wat, always just be truthful and say ur true feelings if u dun like (even if cannot change) coz they might have other ideas to help. mitevo: currently we are installing the carpentry in our place, they half finished yesterday - its quite scary coz everything is coming together and all the choices we had to make with colours etc will be seen now. so far, very happy with what we have. everything should be finished by next week - so now we'll be furnishing up the place la...curtains, sofa etc. which all haven't buy yet.
  2. though i personally feel what you written is a bit unfair, i thank you for sharing your views as this can help everyone learn more. as yours is a 2nd hand account, i fear you yourself may not know the full story or why even your friend decided to tell you things in a certain way. this is between you and your friend and will not benefit everyone here to continue talking about it. hope my following thoughts are more helpful: costing is a very subjective thing and its a bit unfair to just focus on it without any mention of quality. there is much more to any reno project than just cost - my wife and i don't believe in paying for things that are 'cheap and good' but rather we believe in paying what is fair for a quality standard we desire. i urge all of you not just to judge on a number but also on what you are getting. this is so that you do not misjudge those companies who really give u quality and service. honestly when i chose intra, i already knew that their price isn't the cheapest out there but what we wanted was quality and not just low cost. we wanted creativity, initiative, reliability, good understanding of our needs, sound HONEST advice, superior workmanship, and if possible, a very nice experience. so far, dave/intra has met all our needs and even exceeded them. if anyone wants more detail as to the quality of intra, just let me know and i'll show you so you can see for yourself
  3. so far im very happy with Dave also, things are not only going smoothly but we are having quite a lot of fun as well...as someone from a similar line, i can really see the good fundamentals he has in this business...i suppose thats why he (and intra in general) is so popular. Dave went the extra way and helped me in stuff even outside his scope which saved me a lot of money...not going to say wat here wait he scold me workmanship wise, can't really comment now coz i haven't seen finished stuff yet esp carpentry. so far so good good luck to you too mitevo2007 (love the car too), anything not happy with him, we can complain to each other haha.
  4. thanks another reason to get the 772...actually i realized that the knobs feel a bit loose...hopefully that was just the show piece and it won't wear out :/ wrote my signature so u can see wats the same thanks for posting the prices u also put in my mind another option...the nice looking stainless steel one instead of glass...
  5. hmmmm im really quite convinced already, now must consult with my wife whether to get the 2 burner one - i tink she wants the 3 burner one just becoz it looks nicer...eeks maintenance wise i tink will be better...cost wise is very minor difference i just checked the price...er sry to say it is cheaper :/ careful, the place i suggested accepts CASH only
  6. hmmm ok thanks for the advice! i'll check with my partner - eh u and me choice of shops v.similar
  7. wa everyone is buying the 772...im like the only 773 buyer :/ may i ask why you all choose 772 over 773? the 3rd burner (middle small one) no use ah for pricing, my strong suggestion would be to give Goh Ah Bee a call to check - they are very helpful giving price over the phone so its just a simple phone call. Goh Ah Bee: 6288 8611, 6280 3962 if anyone find cheaper than them pls let me know!
  8. wow thanks for the information! really think its not supposed to work that way and must be a fault with the hob - hope they fix it for u not so sure abt the 772 as i was looking only at the 773 which. wanted the 772 also but my partner say look nicer if got 3 la etc. dunno how useful the 3rd center medium burner will be as we have almost 0 exp cooking lol
  9. I'm also curious about the Fujioh Hob performance. Currently they are having a sale for the FG773 (3 burner) model and i'm eyeing it. Wondering whether to get that or the Tecno T333TSV for about $100 more. From wat i understand fujioh is very good with hoods (which we are getting) but tecno is better with hobs. We hardly cook at all so i guess maybe looks more important (fujioh wins in this case). Just wondering if anyone has really bad exp with their hobs?
  10. ya, i've been using it for abt a month already - phone came directly from the US as a present and I cracked it myself. I'm not super good at computer stuff etc. and it wasn't THAT hard. Can easily find resources online with a simple google search. simpler alternative is to just buy directly from one of the shops selling the phone here - though its more expensive. i tink the phone itself is limited in its functionality regardless of the cracking etc. things like no 3G, MMS, Video, lousy cam blah blah - my fav thing abt the phone is the slimness, awesome aesthetic value and ability to sync with my outlook ^^ rumours are out that a new version of the iphone will come out in March addressing these issues...
  11. ask dave the problem solver dun tell him i say lol wish i can help u out but i have no house yet too...
  12. Hi Welcome We have started our renovation with Dave for about 1 month now - so far we are really happy with him. Hope things will keep up like this.
  13. my place is a 5 room 133sqm 23 yrs old in Tampines. The reno costs me nearly $60k - i really change everything - no furnishings yet! becareful coz when your place is big, a lot of things cost more like furnishings like wat cornetto said, WIRING, carpentry, aircon etc. CHECK if your place can support double compressor...otherwise like us, we're so upset that we dun have enough power to airon our living room also take note that these old flats probably cannot 'conceal' much of the wire trunking so it will be very ugly. My ID was very careful abt that point and took a lot of pains to hide it. However you will NEED false ceilings la, built in this and that to effectively hide otherwise will spoil our design with the trunking. So when those ppl show u drawings or ideas be VERY sure bring up this point.
  14. Hi gingerbread82, in the end, u defn are the biggest person coz u are paying the bills ma i'm sure he also knows that and didn't mean to put that point across with any other meaning. I agree with weekeong, his pattern is like that one and maybe for some it takes a bit of getting used to If it helps, you can just be equally direct with him and tell him what you are thinking...so far i've been doing that with him and i feel i really like his straightforwardness. I'm a bit kiasu one so i'm always disturbing him almost everyday with emails, smses and phonecalls...but he is ALWAYS contactable, very responsive and patient to handle all my issues. i like it when he challenges my ideas becoz thats wat i hired him for ma...his expertise and experience. just sharing my thoughts, wish u all the best!
  15. Hi all, i know this is a very asked question but can i have Kelvin's contact as well, thanks!
  16. just found this forum 2day and realized it really has a wealth of info! !! just met Baroque today for the first time, ID Miko. she actually saw us on short notice and stayed all the way till 9pm to sort out our designs. seems quite ok and all that but was quite hesitant to provide drawings for me (unless i put a deposit). anyway i insisted on seeing some drawings and she said she'll just quickly sketch out something in the end. anyone have any exp dealing with her? i keep seeing ppl here recommend mike but he wasn't there. thanks for all the advice ppl! i've learnt so much here, will share all my exp to help others too FYI im doing an extensive renovation with a $35k budget for a resale 5 room A. other than baroque, i have visited A&D but wasn't too impressed. may just visit one more Intradesign.
