  1. ReNoVaTiOn UpDaTeS Towards the beginning of the end ~ We are finishing with furnishings! (Cont') - Commercial break beings - *It's the Pumpkin door knobs and our Blue kitchen* Part I Love our pumpkin-design door knobs? We have SIX (6) spare GREEN "pumpkins" which were shipped over in the wrong colour, meant for our shoes cabinet doors in the hall They are unique but we don't fancy this colour fitting our theme. Anyone interested to take over can PM me for details. - Commercial break ending in 1 minute - Part II Another bad purchase which can't fit our blue kitchen due to the stainless steel finish and mis-calculated measurements above our cooking area. A multi-purpose condiments & utensils holder which you won't want to miss for your kitchen! Regretful that we can't keep it as it allows us to store our cooking & kitchen necessities ALL IN ONE holder. Do PM me if you are interested in this piece! - End of Commercial Break - THANK YOU FOR WATCHING
  2. ReNoVaTiOn UpDaTeS Towards the beginning of the end ~ We are finishing with furnishings! (Cont') *Next Up! Our Cabinet Doors Got Company!* The door knobs and handles for our cabinet doors are finally installed! Specially sourced and purchased from Taobao, transported across the South China Sea and finally to our home! These ceramic and porcelain door knobs and handles are so hard to come by in Singapore...thankfully, we managed to get what we wanted! Made of ceramic, presenting our Rose-design door knobs and Dropped-Drawer Pull handles for our Wardrobe in our WIW. Close-up shot of our rose-design knob and dropped-drawer pull handle. They are heavy and of good quality Made of porcelain, our Vintage Pumpkin door knobs for our Kitchen Cabinets are here to stay! And now, there are lots and lots of little pumpkins in our blue kitchen One of my few favourite corners in our house now... Simply old-fashioned and homely!
  3. ReNoVaTiOn UpDaTeS Towards the beginning of the end ~ We are finishing with furnishings! (Cont') *TA-DA!* Guess what is this? This is no ordinary birdcage...for this is our "Angbao box" which my decor team had made specially for our wedding at the reception table! Since it is so very precious to us, we decided to modify it to something more useful yet meaningful to our new Maison! Love the way this unique "cage lamp" hangs after the entrance of our master bedroom, inviting second looks from anyone standing at the living hall and passageway
  4. ReNoVaTiOn UpDaTeS Towards the beginning of the end ~ We are finishing with furnishings! (Cont') The two other important doors ~ Now with a touch of warmth & country cottage charm (Our headache from post 58) *dancing queens* We managed to soften our "cold & modern feel" bathrooms by adding lace curtains at the entrance + throw in some warm T5 lightings! Though not super country-feel, we are satisfied with the effect which was achieved easily with simple furnishings & lightings! Yeah! Will be decorating with pops of flowers & paintings to both bathrooms and hopefully, the effect will score more thumbs up! Pass-able for a country bathroom?
  5. ReNoVaTiOn UpDaTeS Towards the beginning of the end ~ We are finishing with furnishings! After a 2-week hiatus, I'm back to update on the last few phases of renovating our Maison *First up! Our doors!* Our Master Bedroom Door Remember our Laura Ashley inspired Duck Egg coloured wall and ceiling at our third bedroom (in post 52)? Now! This inspiration has also gone to our Master Bedroom door! A quaint & lovely sight awaits at the end of our passageway...... Really love love LOVE this classic design which we have chosen for our MBR door as it is so uncommon and fits our theme & the colour PERfectLY! I'm really soooo in LOVE with the colour! When I first started researching on the interior design for our house, I remember coming across this salient point - to showcase consistency and/or a common palette in your concepts or design throughout your house. With that, we came up with this common palette using Laura Ashley's Duck Egg colour to bring a twist to our French country-home! *Ta-Daaaa!* Our highlights of the house! Pretty isn't it? Our 2nd door Maybe this door is not as impressive like the first We have gotten a clear-glass PD door for our third bedroom (i.e. Hubby's Toys and my Gym room!) I like the idea that we can see through this room yet not half of the room or entire room on the inside. (Sorry, the protective stickers/film are still on the door's borders! Hehe!)Sidetrack - Notice our air conditioner above our PD door? Yeah we got our air con units installed during the last 2 weeks too! Panasonic ECONAVI Inverter Air Conditioner with Nanoe G technology - some very chim technology that produces fresh, healthy and (I-do-not-have-any-idea-)nanoe particles which circulates the room as we enjoy the cool temperature. It's the Hubby who chose it...should be a good choice! LOL.
  6. Really salute you for your full of ideas & melody of colours! What a happy house you & the hubby has built! I will come home happy after a long day of work.... Your shoes cabinets is really cool! Certainly doesn't look like a shoe cabin at all! Your contractor is nice to DIY together with you!
  7. Hi Donno... We got my pebble like tiles from Hong Lee Building Materials along Defu Lane. Cost abt $3.50/sq feet. These tiles are really old school and hard to find. After what we have purchased, I heard they don't have much stock left. But they have 2 others in different colours. U can check them out. For our kitchen cabinets, our contractor uses laminate, MDF boards & paint! Superb-ly nice!
  8. Hi bsxk, The laundry sink was purchased from Taobao. Here's the link - http://detail.tmall.com/item.htm?id=41230192396 See my pointer in previous post 91 regarding the mixer tap for this basin. We are placing our washing machine and dryer on the other side of our service yard. Have requested Mr Plumber to extend the wiring and piping from our common toliet for both machines. The side where you see our laundry sink placed at is the original point which HDB has provided. I guess you could use the same piping for the washer and laundry sink but I'm not sure if the water pressue will be affected since one piping is shared for the washing machine and sink. There is no space to place both at that corner for us anyway. Unless the configuration of your serice yard s larger, you cld consider
  9. Hi xaurorastar! Here's the link to my laundry sink. http://detail.tmall.com/item.htm?id=41230192396 One point to note, the basin tap hole is only suitable for mixer taps i.e. cold and hot water taps. We bought the sink in only to realise it when we have already bought a normal tap. Thankfully Mr Plumber was able to help us solve the matter Rgd my contractor's contacts, will PM you separately. Cheers!
  10. Hi Clar06...My carpentry is inclusive in my reno works under my main contractor. I'm unable to share the carpenter's contacts with you since we go through my contractor for his services. You are looking solely for carpenters? Just curious, shouldn't your main contractor be coordinating the carpentry work and quotation for u?
  11. Hi ohseolki! I nearly missed your questions! We bought our french furniture locally - not TB (which I kinda regretted as you can save almost 40%, of course with compromise in the furniture quality). We are very pleased with our selection anyway as we got a good deal with good-quality french pieces! The 126kg of TB loots are all the other stuff in our house rather than our furniture. I engaged Peeka as our local agent and I would recommend them, especially for fragil items as their packing is I think we paid about 300+ bucks for their economy sea shipment (including concierge/handling charges to Peeka). For the math, shipping & concierge fees costs about 30% of our total purchase value...may be a little pricy if you only engaged a freight forwarder but we are willing to pay a little more for the convenience provided by Peeka For the fans (FANCO brand), they were purchased locally too. We didn't thought of buying our fans from TB since we are a little concern about the electrical & wiring issues. This link, may be of interest to you http://goodmoodhome.taobao.com/?spm=2013.1.1000126.2.W5w0rC Enjoy!
  12. Hi Naomi & shpesft! Thanks for your compliments We had not engaged any ID but designed our flat interior on our own. Let me know if u are still interested in getting my contractor's contact. Cheers!
  13. Hi lync! We will go down whenever there are major works eg tiling, carpentry & installation of lightings/toliet & kitchen fittings. I wld say we will head down on average about once every week...we thought even with ID,it's impt that the house owners head dw to check on the progress & outcome. But probably more frequent when u engage only a contractor since you are the "project coordinator" for ur own reno. No ID to be that bridge
  14. Lovely! I feel like I wanna eat yummy food & desserts whenever I would step into such a kitchen! Great job folks! Sweet beginnings to your new home! And I like the idea of drilling the leftover knobs under the breakfast counter table....I can see myself hanging (or rather hiding) all the groceries & stuff after returning from supermarketing (omg becoming so auntie )! Love your kitchen concept - even my hubby said so...did u guys spent quite a bit on your kitchen? Our kitchen has the less priority in our Reno budget and I'm so surprised kitchen can be so costly! Even with so small kitchen like ours Haha....ok, I'm a know-nothing-about-kitchen! Oh and your fridge! We had a hard time finding a white fridge too! Is urs Hitachi? We ended up with a grey fridge in the end....u mention abt "washi tape" - what's that? I think we are desperate enough to go that route to DIY our fridge white now!
  15. Hi lainyc! Yes u can start small with Taobao first! When u selected an item, look at the seller's ratings, monthly or total sales of the item & if u can figure out, read briefly on buyers' reviews of the pdt. Use a local agent & pay a bit more to save u all the hassle of communicating with the sellers directly! I would recommend peeka as their service is prompt & my items (half of them are fragil) all came in tact! Their packaging is very solid!! Jiayou & have fun! Don't get hooked to TB!
  16. Wow! Where did you get ur carpet? Nice design!! Can send me the link? Oh ya clownprince & princess, not sure if I missed any posts, think u haven't shown us ur kitchen...all done up? I wanna see the baby blue & pink cabinets!
  17. Hi clownprince & wife! Wanted to check with u both too - is ur original wall uneven (i.e. uneven patches & scratches before painting started)? Coz I think ours seem uneven & after our painter painted our walls, some parts of the effect didn't turn out well. Not sure if the painters did a poor job or is it the walls' problem! Before I get my contractor to repaint, I thought I better ask ard first. Hehe..
  18. Hi benetay! What a cheery kitchen u have! I like the striking orange stripes which add taste to ur white glossy cabinets! And well done on creating a removable plank above ur drainage hole in case of flood! We did the same for our cabinets too! Wanted to do concrete initially buy it's too costly! Solved the in-case-of-flooding issue by asking our contractor to create this removable plank too!
  19. Clownprince's prince - Are u in marketing or corp comms? Your "advertisements" & description of ur TB loots rocks! LOL! Anw, can u share the link on the coloured stools pls? Thanks in advance!
  20. clownprince's wife! Thanks for the suggestion! I will source for curtain/valance from TB! I believe fabric + my flowers + painting should soften the cold modern feel of our toliets! I enjoy looking at your toliets too! Nice wall tiles and great idea of the huge mirror to make the toliets appear bigger! Your wall tiles remind me of honey combs and bees! Hehe!
