  1. Ya, signal has been activated for Blk 27A try tuning ur tv to 743.25MHz... if you see the starhub test pattern, your unit is scv ready.. else like my case, you will need to get the SCV contractors to link the lines for you, cos the scv box outside the house is already locked (note, if you like to watch RTM2, please ask them to keep a tv pt linked to the antenna for you.)
  2. opps... and I thought I was veri bad previously ;p Just to share... BRC actually dragged my rectification for 2 months after reporting. And on this fine day, while skimming through the HDB webby, I made an online defect report. True enough, a HDB officer called me, and finally within the next 2 wks, BRC came to see and rectify my problems. Didn't like the way they try to push off the problems, but given the choice, I would rather have nothing to do/ask of them.
  3. Hi, Just wondering if anyone applied for starhub maxonline among our new blocks? Understand that the new buildings at tanglin halt still don't have the cabling ready yet...

  5. Hi folks, Jus wondering anyone encountered aircon problem like me? I've placed an order for a Toshiba System 4 Inverter one month back. But 2 days back, the salesperson called me and said the system failed some nea inspection (something to do with the energy saving ticks) and I won't be able to get the system I ordered. Anyone in the same situation as me? He offered to replace with other systems that he said cleared the inspection (Namely Mitsubishi Heavy Industry and Fujitsu.) He also added if I wish to keep to Toshiba, there'll be a new set released mid of Jan next year. Just wondering is all this true? Thx..
  6. As still water has a flat horizontal surface regardless of whether the container is slanted or not. Hence water level (shui xian) refers to a marking of a reference height in the whole house, not in regards to the floor. And tiles are layed with respect to this water level to ensure the floor is flat.. Other uses? Air con trunking can only be done when this has been taken. Else how would they know if the water will flow out/down when the floors may not be flat? Spirit level is those instruments we use during dnt to ensure the surface we are working on is flat. The contractors will be using this all the time when they lay the tiles/screed.
  7. Screeding should have been done to level using those 'spirit levels'.... But heard that certain flats flooring is not exactly flat by default (ie. the lego set didn't fit exactly). Heard from the contractor, he has encountered cases where 2 ends of the new house actually has its floor higher/lower by 3 inches! For my place, after taking the water level, i found all my room floors deviate by ard 0.5cm to 1cm, which is considered quite lucky Hope this helps...
  8. Is it becos you are doing a small door header thingy (ie. chinese call it men kan)?? Oh, and I started on my renovation... in my case, told the contractor to make it flat also (no 'men kan'), else i gotta cut the gate too...
  9. haha... okok... how about sharing ur window contractor? some of us may be interested in following suit, and can get a discount by changing together? And thanks for sharing so much
  10. Hi Vince, Can I just check if the aircon ledge window is considered part of the original fixtures that we are not suppose to touch? Cos my contractor says it shouldn't be touched... Tried looking up hdb webby, but no useful information
  11. Hi folks... Anyone managed to get a system 4 compressor (other than Fujitsu) onto the aircon ledge? If yes, pls advise.... Our ledge window measure approx 70cm (W) x 72cm (H)... (pls note if u sourcing for aircon presently !! )
  12. Hi, For those who have completed renovation or in the midst of it, may I know if a system 4 compressor (Toshiba or Mit Starmex) can go out of the aircon ledge window? Thanks....
  13. Hi, Just to share some of the new things I learnt about aircon when I visited Best Tech on Sunday... Who are those who should consider Inverters Aircon? eg. For a single room, if you turn on the aircon for 8 hrs daily, you should consider an inverter. However, if you only require it for an hr or 2 daily, there should not be a need. Difference in the way non-inverters and inverter aircon compressor work? For non-inverter, typically has only 1 speed of operation, whereas inverters can work at different speeds. Difference in the way the motor works? For non-inverters, since it only goes on or off (no inbetween), more energy is used up whenever you need to start the motor from rest repeatedly. (ie. non-inverters always turns on/off inbetween usage, off when the desired temperature is attained.) As for inverters, the motor will be in operation continuously. But based on the needs, it's speed may vary. To explain how inverters save more energy, lets imagine if we are driving. Over a trip that takes 8hrs (regardless of distance), which would use up more fuel? One that has lots of traffic lights, where you have to continuously start and stop every few minutes? Or one where you just start off, and move at a continuous speed? Hope this sharing is useful
  14. Hi, Talked with the salesperson on inverters before... generally, if u do not turn on the aircon for more than 1 room frequently, an inverter doesn't save much on electricity. eg. for 2 rm, save 10% for 3 rm, save 20% for 4 rm, save 30% (pls correct me if these figures are wrong) Though of getting a system 4 as well.... but on second thought, since we may not use it that frequent, and at most frequent, only for 1 room, i'm thinking of getting 2 system 2s... Benefit 1. Should 1 compressor spoils, at least i can still use the other system 2. Typically a system 4 is not powerful enough to cool 4 rooms simultaneously. (ie. not enough to go ard). But 2 separate sets of compressors shld solve the problem pls comment....
  15. Me and my fiance? Hee.. jus joking... but no intention of going for IDs... will only be doing up the basics... nothing extravagant... so only going for contractors
