  1. @JohnJohn finally you are out in the light and got your own tblog! From the photos, the ebony colour looks nicer. I would prefer my wood to have some texture than smooth
  2. Apology for the lack of updates, am really very busy with work and running around to get stuffs and many detail discussion with the ID. Low energy level = you give in to almost everything. But am really glad that my ID is very good! can really 放心 and let her run the show. Day 9 to 17 Alot of work has been done during this time, but not exactly visible or visual. They includes: 1) Aircon pipes 2) Aircon partition box 3) Electrical Wiring and Lan wires to all rooms. 4) Relocation Fibre Point by OpenNet 5) Partition for my living room to level up the indented wall 6) Making good of the walls and parquet floor 7) Fresh white coat of paint for all the walls including the bombshelter. 8) Overlaying of carboard to protect the tiles. The floor is still looking like a post warzone. The cement screed will be the last thing to do after all the carpentry work are done. They patched the broken parquet along the edge of the room. It will take a few days for the glue to settle before they can sand down and varnish it. Day 18 This is an exciting day! as the basic lights are up! Finally I don't have to see the house after work in total darkness. Taken from outside the kitchen, my service yard has lights! Small space inside, but I'm happy that it belongs to me. The guestroom only had 1 6w warm tracklight installed and it's already so bright! Actual place is quite orange, but strangely doesnt look that orange in photo. MBR, loving the toilet tiles now, not as dark as it used to be like.
  3. Am in the midst of renovating my resale hdb flat, and just realise I haven't thought of where to put my full length mirror. Any tips on this?
  4. @nextstep wah seh! so NICEEEE! like showroom! Where you get the ladder for your bathroom?
  5. Day 9 Photos are taken by my ID. Aircon's pipes are to be installed today. The aircon I've gotten is Multi split Inverter R410A, 28k BTU sys4 at a rather good price from Mr Loo. He installed the aircon for my brother and mum's places, and provide very good service! Even clean up my aircon ledge which used to be very dirty! Materials used for the aircon pipes. First time I see how they make partition! - with metal bars and wooden board. This is to flush that wall with a slight indent. K Kitchen floor tiles are laid! The wood texture look like the same tone as my bedrooms's parquet but these are actually porcelain tiles! The cement screed wall has dried up and is showing nicely Laying the area where cabinets are. My ID says they will do the living and dining cement floor at the final stage to prevent it from damaging from the construction works.
  6. Day 8 The subway tiles are up! I'm happy that I've picked dark grey grout (the fillings between each tile) and they look pretty nice! Not as harsh as black grout. Just realise that there's a gas pipe there, forgot to ask how will it be concealed. Cement Screed next to the sink, hope it looks nice after it dries up. Mr tiler cleaning up the grout. Currently eyeing at this TV Mi TV 3 60-inch http://xiaomi-mi.com/tv/xiaomi-mi-tv-3-60/# 4k display, comes with free soundbar too! I was hoping that the UI's language can be change to english instead of chinese.
  7. Day 6 Progress seem to have slow down a little or rather things that they are doing not very visible. Electrical works, shifting points 2 layers of waterproofing screed for the wet + dry kitchen, preparation work for wall tiles Toilet tiles are up, common bathroom. ID suggest to increase the shower kerb space a little, to give more comfort during bathing. The workers setup a red cone for peeing, So creative! My MBR toilet, so small too Spotted and kill 3 little cockroaches in the bomb shelter . Believe there will be more gonna place some baits inside. Btw the ant baits is for my current home, tot they look cool together in this pic. lol
  8. I need practice! or at least use it to pick up dead roaches!
  9. I NEED THIS! http://www.amazon.com/BB-B2001-Spider-Catcher/dp/B000X26IRE/ref=sr_1_6?ie=UTF8&qid=1460019368&sr=8-6&keywords=bug+grabber Hope it's good for roaches too!
  10. @Ahyong81 Haha, seeing the progress each day is exciting! I went to read up your T Blog journey again, so nice to see how you document them from day 1 to now. Actually there's alot of detailing to consider, toilet tiles grout colour and pvc trimming colour, the finishing between the toilet to the walkway, etc.
  11. @JohnJohn Thanks man Hope it will fit in well in my new house later on. Tilings will take quite a while. So much details to consider, like how to tile them, the grout colours, the pvc trimmings, etcs. Jiayou ahh. By the way, does anyone know where to get this teardrop shape pendant lamp for my dining?? The one I saw on taobao is too reflective and plastic looking. Wanted a matt finish for it.
  12. @JohnJohn All the best for your reno too! Day 3 The tiles and cements are here! Excited! Things are moving faster than expected. For the Toilet - Cement tiles, they look very raw now. Tiles for the kitchen, I love the grains! look so realistic. The toilet is getting ready for overlay, my ID LOL when I told her it looks like doing face mask hor. And my own Canvas painting, 1st attempt and got not bad results, more fine art style (but of course with alot of references online) I always dreamt of having a big house with a koi pond, can't realise it, a painting will do
  13. @bykaraanne is it this one? TYNGEN Mirror with shelf, white, ash effect I want the wooden one @JohnJohn Thanks man! I've already shortlist the sofa from Muji! I'm getting the grey one. I think it will look great against my glass wall, as it doesn't have much height. but the cons will be there isn't much back rest. Thinking is will be great to lie down and nua the whole day watching TV. haha Furniture shops I've been to so far: Commune at paragon and Millenia walk - They have a few nice pieces I KIVed Hommage - I bought the KarmaKamet scents from there, furnitures nothing caught my eye yet Second Charm - Probably will go back there again, cause they allow customisation of my dining stools which are of non standard heights Comfort Design - Went there but didn't fancy anything except the metal lamma bench Danish Design - has very nice Scandi furniture pieces but not pocket friendly at all. CB2 - One of my favorite window shopping place, but probably getting the some accessories. Crate and Barrel at somerset - Similar to CB2. Knots Living at Paya Lebar - Found nice hobby tables there! Gotta try to bargain with them. any many others which I can't remember. It can get very tiring! Might wanna go check out Tan Boon Liat again.
  14. Need some help! Does anyone know where can I get this mirror with a wooden box frame?
  15. @owlNbear: Thanks for sharing my excitement! Day 1 & 2 I'm really excited to share my Journey here! Alot of hacking is done. In fact I'm amaze how much can be done in just 2 days. The biggest bang comes from hacking and drilling and is UNBEARABLE, please inform your neighbours before hand if you are doing this. I feel so bad. Walls down for bedroom 3! More natural lights into the house! The space is all open up and make it appear more spacious! If you can see false ceiling marks, it took up so much vertical space! Goodbye U-layout kitchen, too cramp imo. All cleared! The workers work really really hard, bought them 3 cartons of 100plus, let them OTOT take and drink.
  16. Pre-Renovation Today is the auspicious day to 开门! Huat ah! Finally I'm the owner of the unit! A simple cleansing procedure, using incense(given from a master from bencoolen street) with rice + salt + tie guan yin. According to him, I need to do this 3 times, Open door, before reno and before move in. Living Room. That TV feature wall + room walls going down! From another corner of the living room, bomb shelter. Gonna remove the wall between the kitchen and dining. Kitchen MBR. Not very happy with the MBR door when it's swing open, it hits the shower screen. Can be a hazard in future. I like this window from the aircon ledge. It's windy here! A small view of the waterway park. This road leads down to punggol end/ punggol settlement. But neighbours can peek into the room. Unblock from my living room. Though it's by the main road, but it has nice street lights at night. BTW, the renotalk image upload is cranky, I will try to fix the missing images soon. Can't wait for the start of the transformation!
  17. Pre-reno Updates 1 Finally the floorplan from my ID is here! First Draft of the 3Ds Open Concept Kitchen I'm quite happy with how it looks! Cement/Wood/white, that's exactly the theme I'm looking at. Got the Muji feel to it. Just not too sure about the tones of the wood. The shoe cabinet + feature wall that conceal the bomb shelter looks like 1 mega big wooden built in cabinet. Thinking if I can add in a hanging light on top of the dining. Wet kitchen area White Cabinets with subway white tiles and Wooden floor tiles. Things I wanna change: 1) Gonna change out the chimney hood to a slim one, and have additional storage on top. 2) Don't really like configuration of the cabinets, especially the drawers at the corner, like not feasible. 3) Remove poles for hanging items beside the stove. 4) Hope to see more alternative to the subway tiles. 5) Either the floor tiles wood tone doesn't feel right, or change to something more geometric. Meanwhile.. taking up a challenge to create my own painting, stay tune.
  18. @pankponk Take this time to plan your house! before you know it, it's here! I'm collecting keys in 15 more days!
  19. @kcsek Thanks but finger cross! Now you have more experience, definitely better than the first!
  20. Good idea for the shoe cabinet! Haha my drawing not to scale, not trained ;p i prefer to have wall space to hang paintings
  21. @OceanEleven theres built-in shoe cabinet on the right side of the maindoor, haha picture not clear enough to view. Haha Opposite the dinning, is a tall cabinet unit with holes to slot in a 2door(top/bottom) fridge and a built in oven.
  22. Space Planning Some updates, this version I did up just to illustrate how the space aga aga will be like. (not from my ID.) Open Concept Layout, the kitchen island which is the main highlight of the house! Guest can either be at the island, watching tv/playing ps4 at the living room. Hobby room's wall is replace by glass wall and glass sliding partition. Hobby room Do my personal work like DIY crafts, painting, terrariums, going to try to explore making wallets too. Occasionally, can invite a few friends over to do some boliao handicraft together . Lan party to play dota2! A small tabletop beside the shelve for my computer. An 3 feet planted aquarium! Bay next to the window, either for sitting or putting my plants, or can be hang down from the ceiling. Open shelvings for books/ collections. Convert the hobby table for dinning with my family, when my elderly mum who's on the wheelchair. Planning to rent out the guest room in the future. Any takers? hahaha
  23. @owlNbear Thanks Gonna get busier as it's nearer to key collection. So by that time gonna show photos instead of drawings. haha. I'm also considering to get stuffs from Taobao too, but I'm a total newbie on this. Please guide me along!
