Do you get permit from HDB for removing the window?

My husband intend to fix it himself.... hope he can do it.... In the contract, the fixing of the exhaust fan is included. The contractor said they only do for square exhaust fan but not round. We were very disappointed... Hope to get ideas how to install DIY and cheap....vitamin M already exhausted....don't feel like spending extra few hundreds to get this thing done....

Hi, I am in deep trouble..... My contractor said they do not know how to fix a round shape 15WUD exhaust fan....Electrical point everything done... If asked KDK to fix cost me hundred plus per exhaust fan installation using acrylic perspex.... anyway to do cheap... Called dama quote me around hundred plus too.... Can anyone enlighten me? My house nearly everything done except this fan....

hello everybody... Just want to check if anyone knows how to remove special stain done by my artistic daughter. I have a study table (already 6 years and still in good condition) that I wish to move to my new place...however, my daughter used liquid paper to write on the table and use black marker pen to go over it. Also the table itself also turns slightly dirty. (It is yellow in colour)... I used magic sponge to clean but it will turn the surface of the table into patches. Any good suggestion?

Blackapple, If you have already got your ID, ask him to check defect for you.... My ID went together with me to check the defect and found a few things - main door hinge no screw, toilet bowl no water coming in, bomb shelter door hinge defect, mbr toilet bifold door cannot lock properly, all room doors got crack, all rooms window got water mark under the window. Water Duct and Electricity Duct door unable to open (outside the house)... I called HDB immediately and the TO is so helpful. He called the contractor for doors and toilet to come immediately. He also said he will followup to make sure Town Council come to do a new lock for the duct... Thank God, the contractor will change all the defect doors, the plumber came and repair the toilet straight away...I no need to submit defect form... Ask your ID to go to your new house so that he will know how to design your house accordingly to the socket points, lighting points... Guess what, I spend 3 hours checking defect and talking about the design at my place. Afterwhich, we went to our ID office to finalise the costing... another 4 hours... Thank God, My ID and his assistance has been very patience with us. Just pray the workmanship will be good too!

I'm getting my keys in 14-Nov-07. Hurray! Hi Candy, Did you activiate the electricity and water supply and go to your home on the same day? If yes, is there water and electricity when you are there? I asked my ID to go to check defect on the same day when I get my keys.... Hope there is water and electricity when we get there. Because of my tight schedules and my colleagues taking leave, I have no other time to go down to check defect during day time.

Hi blackapple, welcome to the world of renovation..... Before you get any quotaton, it is best that you have some idea on mind what you want... I have studied many ID's package and I realised never have one the same... Either this one don't have MBR feature wall, or that one don't have dining feature wall. So it really depends what you want, what material you want to use. Shower screen depends on whether you are using temper glass full glass with door and handle, or just one piece of temper glass (1/2 cover) or aluminium sliding door? Change of sink involved changing tiles on the wall.... (depend on your sink whether is the vanity top that already sticked on the wall or a normal sink) MBR sliding door also depends on how many feet you are doing.... Study table depends on length of the table too....whether you want cupboards or shelves on top. This is what I learn when I went to ask for quotation... We have to read properly what the quotation included when we asked for quotation. Just give you an example... HDB given me a vanity top of 6ft. The package quotation the ID given me is 5ft. I have to top up 1ft difference. When you do raising up of the sitting room and TV area, rewiring might be involved. (this depends on how low is your SCV cable and electrical point situated) If you no need to worry about budget, then you can pay accordingly to what has to be altered or changed during the renovation. For me, I really make sure everything is quoted before I start renovation or else, I don't not where to get the extras M to pay.... So far, my ID has quoted me package $18,000 (include feature wall for TV, console, feature wall for bombshelter, MBR sliding door, vanity top cupboard 5ft, kitchen cabinet post form solid wood, L box for living and dining room. False ceiling for foyer and walkway to bedroom, kerb for kitchen, fridge, washing machine, toilets, etc. When I asked for shower screen, study table, one more cupboard, kitchen to add 2.5 ft, vanity top cabinet (1 more ft) shoe rack at the bombshelther, the price shoot up to $23,000.... ha! ha! I think there will be more....

Hi Albert, my ID told me that once I get keys called him immediately to do defect checks. Did your ID tell you that... I actually told him to take a look at the unit first (since it is opened) so that he can get an idea where is the socket point, TV point, pipe, etc.. When he reached there by himself, he called me immediately that there are some defects...Maybe you can ask your ID to help you do all the necessary too... Irin and garfield... just my opinion - if you have already got in mind which ID you are going to engage, ask them to go and take a look at your unit since it is opened.... Normally there are many minor things not included in the renovation quotation, eg. changing the electric powerpoint, adding telephone sockets...In order to expedite, maybe this is the best way. Also I heard many contractors will not be working one week before Chinese New Year and 15 days during CNY...so you have to calculate your timeline....

Congrats! Hope to see your 3D drawing and come to visit you one day during your renovation..... Will sure go and pay you a visit....

Albert, have you got your official letter from HDB about getting keys?

I am thinking of hacking the kitchen walls. But the circuit board is on that wall. That's mean have to shift the circuit board to another side. don't know how much the contractor will charge... Renovation depends on what you want... simple or complicated. Whether you want L-box lighting or nothing. Whether you want feature wall for sitting room and dining room. It all depends what you want. Do you have any theme that you want to follow - zen, modern contemporary, resorts... It really depends.... I am still sourcing around... there is one ID offer $18k include most of the thing. But read from the renotalk, work always delay...others offering $23k... I think the kitchen cabinet already taken 1/4 of the price. Kitchen top also makes a difference in price.

Wow.....you finally going to get keys. Congrats! Maybe when your renovation start, I can peep... Ha! ha! I think you are going to start reno straight away and moved in before Christmas.... How much are you thinking to spend for renovation? The kitchen is my big headache... Sooooooo Smallllllll.....I have asked a few company to quote for kitchen and most of them quote approximate $7000 to $8000. I wonder why so ex... only a few cupboards...My present house kitchen about $4000 and it is much longer than sembawang's flat... Also guess what, there is no telephone line and antena line in study room and the other 2 bedrooms. I wonder why?

Albert - went to our block and take a look this morning - all the doors unlocked... you can go in and take a look. HDB has done the retiling for the kitchen, toilets...I think they are doing electrical works now. So, I think you can get your keys soon.

Albert, hdb officer called me just now and said probaly I can get the keys in November.....He said most of the touch up is being done....I did not ask about the door...btw when you book your unit? If you need Mr Ang's telephone, I can email to you. Going down to Home and Deco tonight to see anything special. Chemie, which block did you book? 357?

Albert, I called HDB headquarter last week and told them I need the keys asap due I have already sold my present house....Ms Ong said she will note it and put it in computer. I then called HDB Sembawang and left a message for the officer in charge to call me. Received a call from Mr Ang and he said he will try his best to expedite the process as the contractor will only pass the whole house back to hdb in one and a half month time. He said he will go and take a look on the process and will call me back. Maybe you would like to call him direct.
