  1. just to share my experience here: i am spore PR, and my husband is sporean... we planned to get married beginning of last year, so we started to apply for flats under HDB direct sale. we applied under fiancee scheme, it works... i don't understand why yours doesn't work... of course, our case is a bit different from yours, my husband's name not under any HDB flat, since he stays with parents all the time and his parents stay in private appartment, of course very very old type lah... i remember i once read the terms and conditions when we apply for the flat.. it says that as long as between the fiance and fiancee, one is sporean, the other one is at least spore PR, you qualify already. because last time my husband quite worry that because my PR status, we cannot get new flat. in the end, everything goes smoothly, i mean regarding the application and final transaction... not to mention the pain of balloting and the queue number we got sometimes... below is quoted from HDB website, from Feb 2008 BTO exercise, called "General conditions of purchase of flat", under Eligibility: "2.2 Citizenship Each family nucleus must comprise at least two Singapore Citizens or one Singapore Citizen and one Singapore Permanent Resident. Applicant 1 must be a Singapore Citizen. The other applicant(s) and essential occupier(s) can be Singapore Citizens or Singapore Permanent Residents. "
  2. like that har.... will go and check... don't know how is Goh Ah Bee price??? heard that Goh Ah Bee price very good... i told hb to go there and buy... seems should go to IMM again thanks...
  3. hi alexter, thanks for the info!!! without installation should be cheaper, right? my reno contractor will install the heater for me since it's inside my package already... but IMM where got selling heater? i remember last time my friend bought heater from there, a row of shops there sell heater. but last week purposely went there to look for heater, but just cann't find one. don't know why...
  4. hi alexter, may i know how much they quote you for the two instant heater that you have canceled? thanks
  5. how about the Watt thing? haven't seen any comments yet....
  6. today went to nam wah building at changi south lane. i would like to say that design wise, it is not that fantastic, but price really competitive. like apple said, they use energy saving bulk and e-ballast, we talked to a staff there, he said that their e-ballast and bulk cannot be bought outside. if spoiled, must go back nam wah to replace, expecially the e-ballast, must 1 to 1 exchange, cannot just anyhow go there and buy. now i have a new doubt to clear after talking to the staff. he said that if using energy saving bulk, better get 40W or 54W even better instead of 32W like normal bulk to be bright enough. how true is it? want to buy from them, one thing is that price is good, the other is that the energy saving aspect. but they don't provide installation even we want to pay. they said they only recommend sub-con, not really involved with them, but we have to talk to the sub-con ourselves. we don't like to talk to too many people, our style is like, we ask how much we need to pay if we buy these lights and install by them or their sub-con. if they say we got to talk to the sub-con ourselves, ai... sian... don't like. husband wants to install by himself after heard this. want to know: can it be done by a non-electrical background person? HB said once installed lights at his own home. but i always feel not comfortable to do it this way. any advice here? BTW, we don't have much electrical work, since no false ceiling or L-box, no rewiring... so our reno package no electrical work cost at all, only some minor minor thing, contractor do it free for us. of course we can ask him how much he charges us if we want him to install the lights for us. but before asking him, want to consult experts here first, heehee...
  7. hi apple jie, love you so much!! always got lobang... yeah, heard from another forumer that nam wah got very good price... wah... i also just want the simple ceiling lights, and bright enough... actually just now at balestier, visited a few shops... and in the end thought of nam wah... so on the way back, checked the street directory liao, and will go there tomorrow to see see look look...
  8. harrrrrrrr, like that a bit difficult leh... i don't have the budget to buy designer lights... i just want to buy those normal looking ones... and my flat is quite small, don't want to install those complicated lights to make it look even smaller then how? any suggestion from you? thanks
  9. so that means, when i buy lightings, i should ask for T5, also E-ballast. so what if they don't have these two inside? shall i bargain for discount and then buy outside? or shall i give up this shop and go to another one that has these two? bear with me... another stupid question thanks...
  10. ohhh... like that... thanks, will take note about it.
  11. thanks MaCe for the explanation! BTW, may i ask a stupid question? i know little about lighting. when i buy lighting, let's say those using fluroscent lamp one, what are the things in the standard one light package? does it include those lamp and ballast? do i need to go buy my own ballast, be it e-ballast or not? since we are not going to do any fall ceiling or L-box, so our electrical work is minimum. i heard from one lighting shop that if we buy 8 and above lights, they will install FOC for us. in that case, what should I do? buy e-ballast and let them install? a bit lost...
  12. hi, i just visited a lighting shop this evening, and asked the sales person about the E-ballast thing. he said that E-ballast is 不耐, anyone can comment how true it is? thanks,
  13. hi GAD, thanks for ur info! your PM box full, so my PM cannot send thru. happy new year! regards, rina
