Applefreak : Yep we have similar kitchen layout type, only difference is that yours got a sink concrete support, mine don't have. And I don't know whether Ho Bee is the one who did the kitchen works for you although I know you used Ho Bee. I used my parent's in law's lobang for the kitchen layout. Top & bottom cabinet quotation is freaking ex with box up of the pipes as my kitchen cabinet length is about 13ft. (Actual size is bigger if counting by the size of the kitchen room?) So decided only to do the bottom cabinet instead. Did you use just all white laminate without pattern for your cabinets? Have you put up your racks yet? xlan : hehe saw your blog too. your place looks not bad also! My DIY-Ing is just so so but thanks for your kind compliments! Cantona7: you're very bad to both sets of parents. LOL. If my parents alone, I will go crazy when it comes to music cos my parents are music lovers. Those kinda folksy tunes and the classic types. My parents in law, I don't know yet Btw, your toilets look good! I see also want to enjoy the 'hotel' feeling haha. Haroldism : Easy, get a chair put outside your unit and sit there smoke outside. Like this also can enjoy a view while smoking.

What to do. Tahan all the way since parents or parents in law not staying with you right? I would say the painting is quirky in a way. The painting is a good buy actually considering such paintings of medium to big sizes are more ex. Why envious about the balcony? Balcony is not big in terms of sizes. considered decent enough to walk from one point to another point only.

Greycat: Thanks for the welcome part. Both furniture & lighting are important essentials in creating themes for the house besides the colours. Your place looks nice too. Saw your blog a few months back when I started out here. Cantona7: My sentiments too. My parents in law didn't find the grey & red colours appealing during the period we'd were painting the living/dining and before the flooring was up. 'Cos the colours were too sombre and dark in their opinion, you know traditional outlook in older generation. Now it is better with them due to the flooring adding a touch of warmth I took some pictures of the house in its bare condition but as I'd changed phone so the photos are gone. Only have the photos of the sample unit when I went to both showroom & sample unit some months back then. Thanks. Like many other first-timers, its not easy to start off on the right track. Doing this feature wall for the living room was a little tricky for DIYing as we've been looking and browsing through RT and a few other home blogs. We had a small hitch with the paints we'd bought from the Nippon warehouse clearance sales. My other half thought the white shadow from the matt gloss collection was a light grey so we got the 1 Litre can . But turns out to look slightly a darker shade of pure white. Also it was at a 11th hour thing cos we'd had furniture coming in the next day then, we'd had no choice to mix some of the darker grey colour with the white shadow to become the light grey (Too late to go out buy light grey already) So rush rush through the night to come up with the final result. Candyprincess's striped wall was actually the focus idea that inspired ideas for grey/white theme. For those intending to DIY paint themselves than engage painters to do the work, it is best to be prepared for some 11th hour 'emergencies'

Applefreak: Thanks,Its a kind compliment coming from you, a well known resident in RT. It is only a replica of the original design which is no where close to it 100% as the original one was made in 1980s. Very limited edition worldwide and I was about to give up looking for it until I found an replica with 80% resemblance to the original design in Lightcraft.

We bought quite a number of stuff so having Ikea ppl to deliver and do the assembly for us, including the Grundtal racks. I don't have any electric drills to drill into the kitchen tiled wall. Or else can save a bit on the assembly charges though. But pocket much more lighter after some shopping today for a sofa bed + shoe cabinet at tradehub & the misc stuff from Ikea.
-
Applefreak : Here's some updates for you in case you've not gone down to Ikea at alexandra to get the 80cm rack. I just went down to Ikea and bought 2 80cm racks + 1 120cm rack. There is stock available left for 80cm rack, not many stock for the 120cm rack.
-
Hehehe, must keep us updated if you try the method out and whether it works or not?
-
Applefreak, Blueberi : Not a problem. It was interesting to read that part in the 8 Days. Btw, blueberi, the 8 days is with Zoe Tay's bikini shoot on the front cover. You won't miss out that if you have not bought it yet. I also wondering whether that actually works or not.
-
No wonder you ask me this. hehe.

I think its cos JW is pretty undeveloped back then so the demand for flats in JW wasn't high enough. Left a surplus of unoccupied flats for a long time after they'd were built. I believe that the demand for flats + the property prices have given more appeal towards JW now that its also becoming more developed. Only one thing for sure is that, still need many many improvements in transportation. I hate the morning traffic rush at the MRT & the only one bus that actually stops outside the block of flats, takes a very long time to arrive too.

Blueberi: This part about Mark lee's wife, catherine sitting on zoe's bed to eat mee sua is verified by Zoe tay in an interview with 8 days. Zoe's interview is in this week's 8 Days.
-
Keitong: No. Am staying in JW. You?
-
Wah, looks like i got to go down to ikea after work this week. Hope still got stock or no choice but wait for available stock. !!

To each, his or her own.. it is also not a big issue as long as one is comfortable with the choice of design for the place !! Just found out that my block all units taken already though there are some units that are not occupied at the moment. Seems that there will be more ppl moving in very soon to our neighbourhood! !! What about your block?
-
Applefreak: Many Thanks! Terazzo, Keitong : Means that even if i make a trip down, also not many or none left to buy by then?

I'm not sure about the flies part as I don't see any at the balcony at least for my side. Only the ocassional fly when light is on. It sounds like you'd went on an adventure with your comforter in your block! But seriously, we'd do most of our hanging indoors unless we'd need to hang more clothes outdoors. Wouldn't have any issues with this part but will take care in future, thanks to your pointing it out. Your place really looks cool, wish my place has such an effect of being in a stylo condo-retro environment also. Mine is relatively simple and kept to the minimum except for the mess still left around. I think we being the younger generation take everything for granted in the past so everything is very easy for us until we buy a house. So got to treasure alot of things thrown your way whether it is good or bad. Still got many more to go, just spent over 1k on misc stuff again
